  • "Dark Victory: Operation Jaywick: Singapore 1943," tells the story of a daring special forces raid, on the night of September 26, September 1943, where Australian and British Z Special Unit commandos paddled folding kayaks into occupied Singapore Harbour, blowing up and damaging several Japanese ships.
    Produced as part of the War and Peace in the Pacific Program in collaboration with the National Museum of Singapore and supported by the Australian War Memorial.

    My dad was a special air service regiment long distance sniper with the Australian special air service regiment in Swanbourne perth Australia and he was chatged in tully special forces response operations in tully Queensland

    My grandfather John Roberts was a telegraphist in Darwin post office during the bombing of Darwin 19th of February 1942

    Operator Jaywick was only 6 ships, but that's not the point. The point is they succeeded, the Japanese did not expect Singapore Harbour their stronghold to be attacked. It was a small sabotage operation but 6 ships where damaged or sank and took them out of the war. Soldiers and sailers needed supplies not supplies means delays.
    Unfortunately the local population was blamed and many taken im for questioning. Tortured for answers. Brave men and women both civilians and the men of operation Jaywick. Lest we forget..
