I was raised in the Christian faith. At age 11, my instructors decided I was more trouble than I was worth so they asked my parents to remove me from the school. Everyday, I would ask them questions about what they taught us about God. The questions I asked were not the type they expected or accepted. I was alone in this world, surrounded by adults that seemed to hold onto childlike fantasies of imaginary friends. That feeling never went away.
I believe there is a creator of the universe, but I don't imagine he is like the God my parents told me of that exists in organized Christianity. This reality could be simulated by a higher power as some sort of scientific simulation. When you look at the magnitude of clusters of stars in galaxies, and then of galaxies themselves, I can see that they were likely not designed individually. I think the creator has a set of formulas, or algorithms that utilize the elements that we are aware of.
Has anyone else lived a similar experience?

    • @urworstnightmare9382
      @urworstnightmare9382 2 роки тому

I would say mine is a little similar. Except I don't believe there is any "creator" because it simply can't be proven, only theorized. Though I am not saying that the Big Bang theory is also correct, I believe that some event took place that made the universe the way it is today. It could be possible that each universe within the multiverse has its own set of rules, however we have only discovered less than 1% of our own universe; so that has yet to be proven. There are too many unknown factors for anyone to say what is right and what is wrong, until we find out more when humanity technologically advances further. We still have yet to understand what "dark energy" is which could be a possible factor in determining the age of the universe, as of now we are going off of how far the light as traveled (this is my own theorizing, not factual information). Until the human population discovers more, we are only left theorizing for the moment and debating what could be and what couldn't be.

I have. While I personally admire several of the teachings of Jesus Christ, I found truth in Islam, which emphasizes a personal relationship with God that does not require middle men. The idea that God is greater than everything else there is and ever will be makes much more sense to me as a central tenant of faith than worshipping a human being - no matter how great they were.
Sure, there are people who corrupt the central message in this faith (as in all in faiths), but there is an enormous amount of knowledge and goodness in it.

  • @nycgangbanger

Thank you for this highly inspirational and positive message. Most great ideas are very simple and just need to be broken down to be understood for people to understood them. I like the way Mr. Langan says "parse things out". This is essentially just very calmly and patiently explaining things to people who perhaps just don't understand larger metaphysical ideas/aren't interested in the realm of deep thought (by dissecting language and breaking things down to understand syntax/sentence structure/word origin/what things REALLY mean). Any detractors from Chris' message don't know what they're talking about (he's said nothing logically wrong/ that could in anyway be construed as offensive). People are basically just jealous/envious of people who are on a higher level (i.e. they want what they don't have). The Universe is definitely designed for Good and people do have a specific theic identity within them. As I've grown/learned to differentiate the voices in my head, I've grown more comfortable in my own skin and become able to distinguish between my inner voices that I hear (ex. Jehovah's voice/ my own speaking voice/ conversating telepathically with others).

Obviously Langan's perception and articulation are vastly more comprehensive than mine, but I've discussed this subject at fair length in the past as well.
One conclusion that I reached was that *We are Nature's consciousness.*
By nature, Nature is unconscious, because consciousness is the result of the animating source (God, spirit, soul, etc.) interfacing with the material neural network (brain, spine, nervous system, etc.), in the same way that light is the result of electricity (animating source) interfacing with the bulb's filament (material element). *Consciousness is the light produced by the application of spirit to body.*
And so, *Through our eyes Nature takes her first look at herself.*
Through our consciousness of Nature, Nature becomes conscious of herself. And she likes what she sees. Much like a female in front of a mirror, our compulsion to explore and discover every aspect of the universe - from the smallest particles to the largest celestial bodies - is her desire to see more of herself.

Racial Consciousness interesting, thank you for sharing that, it was quite enlightening.
This light bulb analogy you brought up especially.
The way our soul, mind and body connect.
The connection of these forces activates something essential.
So essential it far exceeds our capacity of understanding and could be so far removed from who and what we are that it’d be impossible to correctly conclude said purpose.
We may very well be the catalyst to something important for this higher being we call God.
Much like sperm swim towards the egg in order to fertilize it.
The sperm has no mind of its own, even if we told this sperm why it needs to get to the egg and how it serves such an essential function for us, it wouldn’t understand a thing, there’s also no need for us to try and communicate with this thing at all. It lacks the capability to understand, to think even.
We just need it to “do what it does”.
The way we live. The way we “do”. Might very well fuel this greater force we call God.
Like the sperm fertilizing the egg. We may never understand here and now what it is we are engaging in but it could be to serve an incredibly important purpose that simply exceeds our ability to ever hope to concretely locate or even understand.
What we hope to understand could literally be unfathomable to us.
Imagine trying to delineate to somebody who has and always will be deaf, what sound is.
First off , they wouldn’t even hear your description, even if they could, what we would be describing would be so foreign and unimaginable to this deaf person that it wouldn’t compute.
It’s a sense that they lack.
Perhaps the senses required of us to understand our purpose have yet to be brought into reality.
We need to transcend what we currently are to experience these new senses. Like a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly.
Perhaps death, is the mechanism by which we transcend this life into a deeper, more complex and meaningful one. Closer to God.
What we are experiencing right now might just be the sorting process.

I see the universe as evolving intelligence to the point that organic beings within it can explain how the universe itself came into being, as it is not obvious that the universe would know such information, having being built from "bits" of information incapable of any memory of that primal era of development. A baby left on a doorstep doesn't know his parentage, someone must do the research and tell it. Sentient life is that researcher, and the universe is that baby.

He's right but there's more to it than that. God sees us become selfish in the spiritual world and knows when we want to experience relationships outside of complete knowledge and bliss. Our ignorance is born from being in this body and the challenges we face cannot be overcome or learned unless in this state. Ultimately He is the enjoyer who witnesses these developments and we trick ourselves by being convinced it's all about us. It's our own selfishness which brings us here and the lesson is to reunite with Him through complete understanding, but we remain selfish and the pattern continues. God's playground for His pets. You are living in His Energy. The evolution continues. Limitations occur in the material world but cannot be experienced unless within it. What is your end game ?

  • @redace6649
    @redace6649 5 років тому +5

What he just described is what he views his own purpose to be, which is to understand everything, and then he proceeded to project his own sense of personal purpose onto what "God wants" the universe's purpose to be. Only problem is that such a projection onto a "God" that doesn't change, ever, is that God wouldn't have any desires one way or another since God doesn't change one way or another.
A better description for the purpose of the universe would be that since God is that which never changes and is eternal, then the only thing that God can't do IS change, and so the universe exists to complete the circle and allow for things which do change.

This is very similar to how Alan Watts viewed the cosmos when he said:
“Everyone of us is an aperture through which the whole cosmos looks out. It’s as if you had a light covered with a black ball. And in this ball are pinholes. And each pinhole is an aperture through which the light comes out. So in that way everyone of us is actually a pinhole through which the fundamental light - that is existence itself - looks out. Only, the game we are playing is not to know this. To be only that little hole which we call me, my ego, my specific John Jones or whatever. If we can maintain at the same time the sense of being this specific John Jones with his role in life and know also underneath it that we are the whole works… you get a very marvelous and agreeable arrangement. It gives one’s life a great sense of joy and exuberance - if you could carry on these two things at once. In other words, if you know all the theories and predicaments of life is a game.”

  • @xemy1010

The fact that he starts from the position of assuming that the true conception of God must be compatible with all world religions, proves that he is if not disingenuous, then simply looking to unify all religions (a kind of syncretism) for emotional or aesthetic reasons. He is in a sense saying that no one religion is any closer to a ground truth than any other, which is logically impossible if there is such thing as "the truth of the matter". Sounds to me like he's peddling relativism but dressing it up in attractive spiritual language.
I've also heard him tell one of his patreons on a call that it's possible to communicate with the dead, which sounds to me like he's coming dangerously close to being a guru of sorts; someone who doesn't have any qualms about just telling people what they want to hear.
I know there's more to Langan than what I mentioned above, but to me he's a very mixed bag. No doubt intelligent (as his interview with Steve Patterson demonstrated), but he asserts way too many things without even a shred of evidence, and never concedes that he might be wrong.

I have a hunch he's simply relying on the relative ignorance of everyone else. Even the most intricately complex concepts can be put into simple language by people who understand those concepts. Being the CTMU is his own concept, he should be able to easily explain it to his critics. He instead attacks the critics themselves rather than pointing out where they are actually incorrect. I am still unable to clearly understand his concept in such a way that its an undeniable proof or unifying theory. A cool idea, certainly yes, but not a self- relevant proof of anything as far as I can tell. Its artistic at best.

While I agree that the most likely explanation of God resides somewhere within a concept of pantheism, where God is a self evident and self explaining, I disagree about the idea of an essential purge for the purpose of God’s evolution.
This idea produces a very strange moral dilemma, where the objective morality that undergirds our reality is carried out in a fashion of hit or miss by God that cannot be determined in any given circumstance. For example, a baby that dies from a disease and a murderer put to death are indistinguishable as being a purge from God, which results in the problem of an incompetent God, a malicious God, or a moral system where there’s an equal justification for a baby and murderer dying. This often turns the self evident nature of God into a theological buffet, everything good that happens is God and a miracle, everything bad that happens is not of God.
The theory also presupposes that life and death, as concepts, have a terminal meaning, versus merely a redistribution of matter across a system to fall into different patterns. Is it not more likely that the Ego, and therefore the spirit, is simply a particular pattern contained within the larger pattern of the universe? It seems to me that all death really is, is a transitory period of a particular pattern that composes the Ego back into a bunch of other systems, as when you die the only thing that doesn’t truly remain on a fundamental level is the specific pattern, within the specific pattern is all the specific neurological pathways that ultimately define your ego as separate from the external world, all those pieces within that pattern is redistributed out to attach and reform other patterns. This follows the same logic that explains how the death of stars lead to the red color in our blood, the death of the star wasn’t a terminal end to the star but instead a transitory period of the star to continue on as the iron in our blood that gives blood it’s red color.
My idea of where exactly moral system arise actually comes from a simpler predictive pattern that was created by God, or the collective self with the birth of the Universe, this idea allows from free will, as conscious beings can deviate from the predictive pattern. This also allows for an emerging objective morality, as the moral system is evolving and transitioning over time but at any given time is reflected in a particular pattern, so there cannot exist a true and eternal doctrine of moral values because the system itself is changing over time and requires the conscious beings within the system to intuitively deduce that pattern at any given moment and pay very close attention to the system to discover the essential will or predictive pattern of morality that lies below reality.
This theory in accordance with contemporary scientific theories about the infinite space and time theories of the universe would produce a result where each Ego would essentially reform, as well as existing as all other things at some point within the cycle of the universe. This would mean any existential fear of death you have isn’t really warranted, as you’ve already died and been born an infinite amount of times as all things in all places at all times, so if you are akin to the life you currently live, do not fear, when you close your eyes for the last time, you will also open them again for the first.

Yooo -- this sensor thing -- if I'm understanding correctly it's basically that God is using humans as a lens with which to view Himself (in order to make judgements on what part to keep) -- it made me think of the idea prevalent in many teachings like Buddhism and Christianity that tells you not to develop preference/not to judge. It would make sense that this would be so that you can have a clean/unbiased perspective that God could more effectively use. Is that kinda the thinking? One of the parasite cleanse is # 888000, on drhildeclark.com, and herbs site . Pass on the word , Please. Many Blessings. Note = The site is not claiming the parasite cleanse herbs will kill cancer. Powerful people in the AMA, who are making BIG profit from treating people who have cancer, and not curing them, have threatened those who own the site not to make any claims of any of their herbs iradicating cancer.

Does he view Christ as the Bible describes - the word made flesh and his life and death being a sacrifice for the sins of humanity, one in which God's demands in the moral realm are met? If so, then through some union with Christ, can God manifest a real change in a sensors actions that would otherwise not occur by that sensors own unconnected (in the sense of being outside of this salvation in Christ) free will?

I don't think his ideas are wholly unfounded. Part the reason he pushes the idea of a personal God is the fact that any metaphysical theory of reality must explain (1) why the universe assumed a specific form (if no multiverse exists), and (2) the existence of human consciousness/free will (if you are among those who agree consciousness constitutes a legitimately unique property of the universe, and if you think free will is a legitimate property).
These ideas - the possibility of there being no multiverse, the possibility of "consciousness" not merely being an illusion but some basic phenomena that is somehow different from physical objects, and the idea of "real free will" existing - are not settled issues at all and the idea of them being real phenomena that are non-deterministic and non-physicalist is legitimate in the relevant intellectual communities. Langan's ideas (CTMU) and inferences about the nature of metaphysical reality are based on certain views that address these issues; if these views are true, then the universe must be a certain way, and that certain way is the CTMU. I don't agree that his CTMU is correct necessarily, but I'm prepared to grant him that if those positions are true, then his CTMU is probably an excellent theory for explaining them.

Of course, he explains why a finite-simulated-universes theory is logically impossible, because that which does the simulating must itself come from somewhere or be simulated by an even higher level of reality. The Universe, and Reality as a whole, is actually a _self-simulation_, as that is the only ontologically/tautologically sound explanation for "something out of nothing". www.cosmosandhistory.org/index.php/journal/article/view/867
BTW, this doesn't preclude the idea of our reality being simulated by a higher level, rather it just goes all the way to explaining where all realities/universes must come from.

In other words, the ultimate "censor", through which God can express Himself to lesser censors, is Jesus of Nazareth, Who is God in the flesh.
We as the "censors" exhibited a malfunction at some point ages ago in what is referred to as the "Garden of Eden"; the central and beginning location of God's censors.
When the malfunction occurred, a solution was needed, but it was only a solution that God Himself could offer.
Jesus lived on the proper frequency, the way a man is supposed to live, with no deviation whatsoever on that frequency. He was murdered and took upon Himself the due penalty for not being inline with the frequency required to be perfect as God is.
What happened was that reality short circuited when Christ died and rose, defeating death (the total shutdown of censors). Death is a side effect of not living on a proper frequency which is the frequency that God intended us to live on.
Now, since death has been destroyed by God Himself on the cross, we the "censors" can freely choose to accept Christ's sacrifice as our sacrifice in order that we may be restored to our proper frequency after our earthly death.
Those who fail to receive Christ's forgiveness are then discarded upon their death. The side effects of this are coming into direct contact with God Himself having lived in opposition to Him, therefore, that censor's systems, molecules; their entire being is expanding and shrinking all at the same; they are being continuously destroyed constantly at an accelerated rate all while still existing in some abstract form enough to being able to experience this fully.
This is the lake of fire and the 2nd death.
The hope here is that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord Jesus will be saved. If you want God to save you, turn from your sin and ask Him and he will save you. It is that simple.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life.

Do we consist of smaller parts of ourselves or do we consist of cells? You can call it will, or the universe or god. Many philosophers have had this idea, the diffrence they make are between those who view this as a positive (being slaves to the will) or pessimist (rejecting will). I personally would reject it. But most people accept, or love it. Very similar to how this idea carries over to the rest of their lives, they want to be part of something bigger, and in that hope, they fall pray to anything.

A lot of what Langan is talking about is ripped straight from the Hindu Upanishads which were written millennia ago. This "invariant universal distributive force" he's talking about is a one-to-one parallel with the Brahman, or any of its ironically variant referents like Narayana, Parabrahman, Ishvara, etc. that all connote the same primordial indivisible and changeless substratum of existence. Even the individual perceiver that he's talking about is identical with the concept of the Atman, or the Jiva, commonly understood as the formless, bodiless "witness" within each living mind that is subject to individual cognition, self-reflection, and the effect of external senses being relayed to it by the gross and subtle bodies, and that is ultimately subject to dissolution in, and unification with, the Paramatman/Purusha/Brahman/universal soul upon the realization of its own nature as not actually distinct or differentiated from anything else in the perceivable world, but rather that it is in fact one with each other individual which are all in turn together unified with the universal cosmic Self.
I'm fully willing to believe that Langan came up with these ideas on his own, but they're nothing new, and to be clear, these ideas fall squarely within the realm of speculative philosophy, and are in no way related to hard empirical science.

Except other life forms don't possess the intelligence to make moral decisions on the same level as humans, or for that matter, at all. And humans evolved from other animals and are animals themselves. So the overwhelming amount of life forms on the planet that are not human and do not have the level of memory or capacity for reflection as humans do discredit this theory. Unless you are going to take it into the idea of reincarnation, where life forms are slowly working their way up to the point of human beings based on the capacity for moral decisions assuming free will exists, and plants discredit that.
I would love to find strong evidence alternatives to the neuroscientific evidence of permanent unconsciousness via brain destruction, which goes along with terror management theory-- which goes along the survival drive as the primary drive of action in human beings and goes along with evolutionary psychology theory, which I think is important enough that it will eventually become part of mainstream psychology. We are incapable of comprehending dreamless sleep and incapable of comprehending the time before we were born, so if death permanently mirrors these states like most skeptics or atheists attest to, it is also perpetually beyond our comprehension regardless of our intelligence. Its worth comprehending this and anything else with probability, even if you hate it, dark thought experiments are risky but are also potential sources of massive personal growth.. at least while one is alive.
I try to acknowledge the possibility of probability regardless of the emotional burden, but with that said, I am grateful that I don't know everything for the exact same reason and I think that mystery and study helps one cope with dark probabilities.

If it were an endless cycle then god would have remembered it from previous creations. A one-time event doesn't make sense to me given the eternity of god. I find it an interesting conclusion that god learns through self-identification. Rejecting parts, on the other hand, is illogical because that means that god would reject parts of itself. That's how I see it for now, very interesting topics so thanks for posting.

The purpose of the CTMU is to give you a headache.
It's a nice metaphysical idea and has a lot of philosophical value, but the theory has no scientific value, as it's not testable.

@@Ray_Getard42069 I've read it twice and it's all philosophy with a bit of mathematical logic thrown in. You can create and define anything. I can define things in terms of other things that I define and make statements that are true using the terms I've just defined. Here, I'll show you.
A blarg is a bleet that always blorks. Anything that blorks is a blix. If A is a bleet, then it is a blarg and it always blorks. Since all that blork are blixes and since all blork are things that bleet, then all blixes are also blargs. The previous two statements are true, but they are also utterly meaningless.
If you can show that his work represents reality in a meaningful way that isn't bound by his neologisms, then it has value outside of metaphysics. Until then, it's sort of interesting to think about, but has zero utility.

The universe exists unto itself and we are of it. I do not "believe", as Chris does, in a personification of his God. I am convinced that by our own personal perceptions and motivations we make each of our lives what we are. Our actions, environments and situations, both physical and mental, determine what what we perceive as what the universe is. But if some of us want to assign that purpose to a personified God we, of course, can. I simply think Chris's view is highly limited and restrictive, much as in an organized religion.

Well, that throws the infinite universe and probability theory out the window. "An open mind says, what?!" *crickets* Just an FYI, just so you know and maybe, just maybe you might understand that God or god, how ever some people want to spell it, is not an organized religion. I take that you never done LSD before?

How can God evolve if he isn't subject to change? If he is subject to change then he isn't a single identity. If there is a permanent part and a changing part, how do they join? Impossible. Langs God suffers the same flaws as the ancient Hindu's. Rejecting nihilistic physicalism, AND eternalistic theism, find rest in ultimate reality beyond all conceptual elaboration, indistinquishable from the nature of your own mind, luminous emptiness which very essence is compassion.
