Man it’s dam near impossible to instill anything in a kid for a father who’s not in the household. I tried my best but the kid stays with mom and you have to work as a dad. Then if the mother overrides things you tried to instill it’s just a hard situation

The father was not there for the boy when he was a child.The father said that. The father MOVED away and left his son and then later when the son was in trouble and the father finally got his act together he tried to parent. Too late

In my field of work, I'm constantly solving problems. Some are a quick fix, some takes day, weeks, months to fix. Sometimes, I look back on what my dad said, do right and it'll follow. When I was 13, I started hanging with the wrong crowd. One of childhood friends was killed in the 8th grade. I remember that day, I asked if I could go over his house and play basketball. My mom said no. I was angry and I remember saying in my head, "fuck that imma go anyways" but right when I was about to sneak out the house, my dad called me and asked me how I was doing in school. I knew I couldn't ignore it because he'd tell my mother. That warning from my mom and the conversation from my dad saved my life. Ever since then I listened and understood what they were teaching me. I've seen so many of my peers perish due to bad decisions or even lack of understanding of life itself.
