when will kids from 8, 9, 10 and up ever view their parents, teachers, and other "adults" around them as cooler then their friends and peers in the community. how exactly are you gonna tell a bunch of kids being in a gang is not cool, carrying gun is not cool, even if they have 2 parents and the best home enviorment, most kids wanna jump off the porch just to grow up a little and start being older and cooler and get approval from the older kids that he/she is not like the other younger baby kids.
i dont think any parent wants their kid to grow up a gang member or totting pistol or being a "stepper" but just look at the 4 common races and how they grow up, you got white and asian toward bottom, they dont raise their kids to be tough or hard or anything like that, next hispanic they do it a little more but not like black folk, the entire community creates an enviorment where young kids are double or triple as "tough" then the other races. they usually dont have a dad so all their father figures are out in the streets other kids, the moms are much more aggresive then other race moms, beat their kids more often so that toughen kids plus keeps them out the home in fear of getting hit on by mom... now you got young kids who are tougher hanging out with older kids who are tougher, that shit is a recipe for disaster... peer pressure exists no matter the race or location but you bring the whole way young black men act and react to shit around them and have them start telling each other this kid is soft or pussy or he not a real steppa... cmon they gonna either do something about it to them or prove to them by doing something to someone else.

BUT...in a way, I think it's a kind of unfortunate accident. Black music is HIGHLY infectious and undeniably rich. This means that whatever it's content (be it positive or negative), it's always going to sound good and move people spiritually, emotionally and rhythmically. The gangster or the pimp are social roles that are as old as time, and they have existed in EVERY culture, so they aren't just exclusive to black culture. But what has happened is that good music aka black music, simply draws from it's surroundings...and everyone worldwide is moved by it. Because, they can't help it...it's undeniable. I don't have an easy answer or solution. It just seems like an unfortunate cocktail of events.

This is exctly why I told my mom when I have kids, I'd rather raise them how steve jobs and bill gates raised his kids(tech free). Liiting the use of tech is a start of keeping your kids from being influenced by others because even with homosexuality(people are being influenced by that, kids are and are saying I want to do this because of what they see). I understand that homosexuality stems from a chromone imalance, but you can also be influenced by your environment. It's the same with gangs, if a child is in an environment that's influenced by gang culture there's a high chnagce that your child will be part of or affiliated with that gang. We also need to focus on teaching our kids to tell us everything and not allowing them to be around people (relatives) until they're older and able to talk and tell them if someone tells them not to tell you something then tell it to you anyway.
