Courage taught us kids an important life lesson. When ever he didn't know what to do, he would go up to his attic and ask his computer. Who's advice had a 50% success rate. just like in real life.
WHEN i was a kid , i always wondered why a dog who gets scared easily was named courage, then suddenly i realized that even when he is scared he still goes to save his Family no matter what, no wonder he is called Courage , a fitting name for him.

With cartoon networks modern cartoons bright and happy while focusing on dumb, naive characters, Courage would stand out like a sore thumb. And even if they did, they would make it way less scary to fit into that mold. Id hate to see courage warped into a dumb 2d character like they've done to so many. (Rip Teen Titans and Scooby Doo)

Courage the Cowardly Dog was incredibly ahead of its time. "The Mask" might be the most progressive cartoon episode ever created. It dealt with subjects that, at the time, nobody touched especially for a cartoon. Courage the Cowardly dog was funny, clever, thought-provoking, and inspirational. It made you laugh. It made you cry. Just flawless.

I have a very fond and yet painful memories related to this show. Me and my deceased younger sister absolutely loved Courage. Every evening we would take turns to watch our favorite shows on cartoon Network. First, i would watch Dexter and after that my sister would watch powerpuff girls. Then finally, we would watch Courage together. Whenever I do my Courage impression of "things we do for love" she'd laugh hysterically. So, sometimes it is really hard to hold back my emotions whenever i see or hear anything related to these shows. But life has to go on. While i have no control over life and death, she is still alive in my heart. Always will. Anyway, great video mate. I'm subbing. Cheers!
I never thought Courage was scary. I always felt bad for Courage. It was endlessly frustrating to watch Courage ignored and dismissed. The villains seemed to care more about him than his owners. It was endearing and my siblings and I often quote the show... ❤
I thought it was scary, but I felt the same you do. Sometimes I thought Eustace was more of a villian than the actual villians, and that Muriel was mindless.
Courage was one of my favourite shows as a kid! Love this look-back. I think the value of horror cartoons for kids is seriously undervalued by people who grew up in safe circumstances. For kids who go through destabilising childhoods horror shows are a great way of externalising those threats and fears, and Courage's persistence in finding safety at the end can be a real subconscious anchor for kids that might not feel safe anywhere yet.
One thing i never understood as a kid was Eustace's resentment towards Courage and basicly being rude towards everyone, then i realised that Eustace was verbally abused by his mother and brother then his brother died, in a hunting accident and Eustace realised that his mother, wife and dog are the only ones in his life, he had a nephew (through Muriel) that was locked up in a mental asylum he was comfort eating to deal with his emotions.
I really don't want a reboot of this. I don't have any faith in any studio in cartoon network. I am terribly afraid they would make it crap. *Edit - Wow Guys! Thanks for all the likes! Almost to 100 Subs, Huzzah! Also, I forgot to mention but you probably already realized that Courage is one of my all time favorite shows ever!
Unless they bring the creator back, who mind you is still making animated works and has a UA-cam, I don't want shit. We either get a Samurai Jack (original team) season 5 or a Teen Titans GO (new team).
I thought the final episode was the episode with the vet and Courage's parents. Dang that show had the widest range of emotions, even wider than the simpsons, and that has 663 episodes.
I thought the same. That is the only episode of Courage that legit made me cry at one point (having been a kid at the time, seeing Courage's parents being forcibly taken from him when he was so young made me think of what I would do if that happened to my own parents and that is what made me cry).
It's part of the final episode, but not the "final" episode. Courage airs in 20 minute blocks with two 10 minute episodes (with two exceptions in its 52 episode run, as two episodes are the full 20 minutes), the final episode the "Remembrance of Courage" is the first half of the final episode, and "Perfect" was the second half of the final episode.
Violin girl scared the bgeezes out of me, and so did other stuff on the show. But I still powered through it because I loved the quality that his show was in the face of another rerun of looney toons.
I could never understand how cartoon network would allow a show so scary in between two shows that were so sweet and calming but i loved courage i had courage
@@justice777B Well I do remember it was on late also, atleast new episodes, and reruns were in the mornings. Frankly I just want to know what 2 shows you're talking about. Just curious dude. Was it looney toons?
This show was not funny for me neither horrfying. This show amazed me in many ways and it became my favorite. I love the surrealism of this show and how i find it amazingly fantastical yet having a dark humor. The imaginations behind this show was purely a masterpiece. This was so magical to me. And i just love Courage so much.
I always hoped this cartoon would end with rewarding Courage for the fact that in the end he was not that much of a coward, but rather a faithful and loving dog.
Probably the scariest episode for me was when they went ahead to the future and everyone is a banana and they pray to a god in a temple but they cant go inside it, and when someone do goes inside it their a sacrifice to a gigantic monkey. I dont remember much about the episode but damn does it scare me before
I love that last part where there is actual evidence with a couple and a dog that is pretty much a real life version of this show, with the sad part with the couple going missing but the dog was found, some how in the comments no one is talking about this.
@chickenfinger7829 Either it was, or its a pretty dang big coincidence. Nobody can claim for sure it was or wasn't, however I wouldn't be surprised at all if they did get the idea of an old couple with a dog in Nowhere, Kansas from the New Mexico story. All its take is a bit of research, same way Nerdstalgic found it.
It's because they're students. Art school tries to beat the whimsy out of you. They instead want you to do "serious" art. Even though almost everyone that goes to art school wants to make cartoons/anime. The teachers fucking hate it lol.
That's kind of sad. I remember listening to an interview with the show's creator. Just listening to him you get the idea that he has a deep appreciation of art. Hence the Salvador Dali inspiration. He doesn't even confirms or deny any of the fan theories since he leaves it to the viewers to interpret the show however they want.
The Harvest Moon episode is what spooks me the most. The image of the Spirit of The Harvest Moon is still something I am still uncomfortable to look at even at age 24...
Great video but I don't want to see Courage rebooted. Leave that show alone. Reboots RARELY work. I dont trust CN to do a good job with it now. The original is great and does not need to be touched whatsoever .
I always argued with my dad about me watching Courage when I was a kid. The moment he walked in on me with the scene of Eustace's infected big head during that one episode about a giving tree, he hated me watching the show ever since. I had to start dodging him whenever I watched Courage and had to be sneaky. I was about 6-8 years old maybe but I always tried to convince him that I wasn't scared, but of course, he was never fully convinced. It's funny when I think about, cuz It was one of my favorite CN shows XD
Syrus Angi, hah my parents thought this was a bad show cuz almost every episode they call courage “stupid dog”. I still loved it since the shows funny and has a Lota heart.
I remember watching this as a kid - it made me uncomfortable and scared and I had no idea what was happening, but I still watched it. It was nice to see a character that was scared but still battled those demons anyway.
Courage is actually one of my childhood heroes growing up, the fact that he was absolutely terrified in most of the situations he was in but was able to push forward in order to save Muriel and even Eustace (despite how poorly he treats him) always stuck with me, it taught me and a lot of kids that even if your scared, you can also be brave, especially when it comes to your family. To this day not only is Courage is one of my all time favorite protagonists in any media, but Courage the Cowardly Dog is one of my all time favorite tv shows
Despite all of its strong points, the episode that left the biggest impression on me was "The Last of the Starmakers". What a rollercoaster of emotions that put me through as a kid
I always loved courage, something that stuck out to me was that courage overcomes the "bad guy" by empathizing with them and helping them through their problems, it's a more honest and realistic depiction of what "good vs evil" actually boils down to in real life most of the time. I don't see that kind of love and maturity from any other show, especially from shows aimed at adults
It was the element of mystery and "what's going to happen today" in each episode that sparked my curiosity and left me wanting more of it despite the show's horror. It is by far my favourite show on Cartoon Network that made me contemplate life in a way after each episode
I was confused who this was because i didn't recognize the name of the channel, than i heard the voice. Loved courage as a kid, one of the most unique shows to have ever been aired.
yeah, the voice really gives it away. I used to watch CPR when i thought it was good but then I started noticing the format more and more. It might just be that i dislike his style of videos. His videos all mostly feel the same
In my personal opinion, courage the cowardly dog is the best cartoon ever made. It has the perfect balance of comedy and horror. It also taught many viewers some life lessons, one example being the last episode “you’re not perfect” teaching the viewer that no matter who you are you will never be perfect. Courage the cowardly dog is a true masterpiece.
This channel and Blameitonjorge are two channels that I impatiently wait for updates. Only difference is that I can proudly say I’ve been watching you since your first video, literally.

Courage was my favorite show as a kid, I never thought it was scary. I enjoyed the post apocalyptic vibes and the weird stuff that happened to this dog and his family.
I was a scaredy-cat when I was younger but Courage the Cowardly Dog was first out of two scary things I would watch. It didn't give me many nightmares but usually, one nightmare was enough to make me never watch it again. However, it was too entertaining and every episode was so different that it left me to curious to leave alone. Just the fact that I know everything would be okay in the end comforted me and made me forget my fears. It's a frightening masterpiece that I would always go back to watch to this day.
@@RetroDeathReviews666 The second one was an anime movie called Akira. I went back to rewatch it about two weeks ago because I haven't seen it in so long and it was a miracle the movie hasn't gave me nightmares. I remembered it being fucked up but when I rewatched Akira, it was worst than I remembered now that I understand the heavy concepts it throws at you. Honestly, it made me question how did so much fly over my head and who the heck was babysitting me because they obviously weren't paying much attention if I managed the watch it like three times. The movie definitely isn't for children and I advise anyone to watch at their own risk.
I'd only accept a reboot that has the original creator JR Dilworth still as the director. It would be a real treat to have the original composer for the soundtrack on board too. Courage's OST aspect is so underrated.

And even if they did, they would make it way less scary to fit into that mold. Id hate to see courage warped into a dumb 2d character like they've done to so many. (Rip Teen Titans and Scooby Doo)
Kalyrie Wells exactly they would just change the background music and everything they would also change the way that the scary people look and they probably wouldn’t even make it scary at all

Despite being the most cowardly, he was the most courageous
One thing i never understood as a kid was Eustace's resentment towards Courage and basicly being rude towards everyone, then i realised that Eustace was verbally abused by his mother and brother then his brother died, in a hunting accident and Eustace realised that his mother, wife and dog are the only ones in his life, he had a nephew (through Muriel) that was locked up in a mental asylum he was comfort eating to deal with his emotions.
I really don't want a reboot of this. I don't have any faith in any studio in cartoon network. I am terribly afraid they would make it crap.

Ironically enough, ever animation student I know hates this show...so strange given its genius.
It's because they're students. Art school tries to beat the whimsy out of you. They instead want you to do "serious" art. Even though almost everyone that goes to art school wants to make cartoons/anime. The teachers fucking hate it lol.
Art schools ironically hate creativity
That's kind of sad. I remember listening to an interview with the show's creator. Just listening to him you get the idea that he has a deep appreciation of art. Hence the Salvador Dali inspiration. He doesn't even confirms or deny any of the fan theories since he leaves it to the viewers to interpret the show however they want.

Despite all of its strong points, the episode that left the biggest impression on me was "The Last of the Starmakers". What a rollercoaster of emotions that put me through as a kid
Man that episode was just AAAAA
I always loved courage, something that stuck out to me was that courage overcomes the "bad guy" by empathizing with them and helping them through their problems, it's a more honest and realistic depiction of what "good vs evil" actually boils down to in real life most of the time. I don't see that kind of love and maturity from any other show, especially from shows aimed at adults
