- I wanted to check out the leaking roof in the rear of my escalade so I found the issue. Its the rear plug coming from the tailgate into the car. Replaced the foam seal and took care of the issue. GM OEM part number 23487135 foam seal. Same as Yukon and Tahoe part numbers. Use my link below for many discounts on online shopping and will help the channel. Thank you

Thank you I was going crazy looking for this leak. Looks like another GM flop design
Thank you for doing this video. I could not find the leak until I watched your video. Mine did not have a seal but clipted in and the clip was broken, I just used silicone and it worked. My truck is a 2013 2500 suburban.
Hello you are welcome. I am glad it helped you out.
Thanks man! I really appreciate you taking time to put this video together, very helpful for our '16 Yukon SLT. Props for including the part numbers too. Thanks again
Hello you are welcome I am glad I can help. I was going crazy with that leak. Thanks again.
@@ExtremDIY were you able to clean the headliner? What did you use?
Been trying to figure out this leak that I have and now I know. Thank you
Thank you for the help just were my leak is.
Thanks dude. Just noticed my water stain yesterday and been raking my brain since then.
Hello I am glad I can help. thank you
Thanks for your help on this one. Was going crazy looking for the leak
You are welcome
I couldnt figure out where the leak was coming from. Thank you
Now I know where its coming from. Thank you
Thank you I was going nut looking for this water leak I have.
Thanks for the video. I'm going to check out the boot on my 2011 Tahoe! I suspect the problem is similar!
Welcome hope you can solve the issue. If you replace the foam make sure its centered, the foam spec design is kind of flawed.
My 2023 Tahoe leaks there too. Long story trying to get mine fixed but six months later, leaking again.
Oh man sorry to hear that. I noticed that even when you replace the foam its too thin so you have to get it on the middle. Its a crappy rig that GM did on that. That plug is just like the one for their doors but goes on the metal so it seals correctly. looks like they messed up on the design and added the foam. You can make a wider foam. hope it works
Thank you so so very much!
You are very welcome.
Hello no it didnt for me and I used the rear wipers. You could have a broken hose going to the back liftgate. If you look at the plug from the inside of the car you can see there is a union were the plug goes. Have someone activate the rear washer with the tailgate closed and see where the water is coming from. Remove the top plastic cover and you should see the leak if its coming from that connection. Hope it helps let me know if you found your leak. Thank you
My 2019 Suburban is leaking also, so I just went and looked. There is no foam gasket or the the hook on the left side. I will have to call the Chevy dealer tomorrow and see what they have for that. Good video, thanks for the info.
Hello thank you I hope you resolve you issue.
Do you have the website where I can find the foam seal? I tried GM parts direct and was unable to locate the part. I want to try to use the foam seal before trying to Jerry-Rig with silicone around the base.
I have a 2016 Denali, the rear wiper washer hose is leaking in the rear headliner. Hit the wiper pump and the water started streaming from the headliner.
Hello they have some issues. Mine was the plug gasket.
Does the water come in when you use the water for rear wipers?
Now I know. thanks
Can you post the link where you found the replacement gaskets?
Hello here you go hope it takes care of the issue. Be careful when you install it to make sure the rubber cover does not overlap the foam gasket. Thanks
My SRX 4 2014 leaks water by my left foot (rear window washer fluid) and I was told there is a hose that runs up the A pillar from front to rear of the car and the washer fluid was collecting and going into my front speaker by the dash(water stain) How would I remove the interior panel to access this area to replace/repair the broken/damaged water hose?
Hello I wouldnt be able to help you on that one. I dont have that vehicle and dont have the knowledge for that issue. I have the Escalade but have not had that issue only the one on this video which is a water leak from the rear foam seal. Hope you resolve the issue. Thank you
I see there was 2 plugs above the tail gait in that area, did you have to replace both gaskets of them or just the 1?
Hello I just did that one one the video. The other one I believe has a raised metal around it that looks like it wont allow water in. I put more water after the video was done and it was fine. Just be careful I think that the plug comes with like duck tape on it so dont remove it. I had to glue the thing up after. Its a poor design from GM. Make sure the rubber part falls on the foam part and doesnt overlap the foam. Test out with water to make sure. Hope it helps. Thank you
Can’t get the tail gate to close now. Did you have any issues after you plugged it back in?
Hello I believe you have to close it manually and then you can use the remove or the button to open. Also check the plug to make sure you dont have some corrosion. I cleaned with Qtip and added some WD40. Let me know how it goes. thank you
Did it ever stop leaking after you did that repair
Hello oh yes. Perfect its the foam gasket.
What is the name of the part?
Hello it has a generic name from GM - Generic Electric Application Tape- just use the part number 23487135. When you install it prior to installing the inner top cover test with water hose. The new foam seal is a bit narrow so when installing pay attention to the edges. Hope it helps
