It's 2022. This albums been on constant rotation in our house since 2017. If I'm alive in 2030, it still just might be there. What an absolute masterpiece.
I am brand new to The War on Drugs train. I picked up "A Deeper Understanding" on vinyl and have been listening to side A on repeat. It is beyond beautiful and intoxicating.
There's plenty of room on the David Ramirez train too, my man. Do yourself a favor and check out The Bad Days, and discover him at your leisure after that. Peace! ua-cam.com/video/V_FkhCVg-1s/v-deo.html
Thanks to the waitress at Tipton's Barbecue in Wilkesboro, North Carolina who identified this song and band for me yesterday(Sunday, August 12, 2018). Knowledge is beautiful sometimes. Glad to know about this fabulous song and band now.
this song is extraordinary, beautiful, I love it. So much to relate ... At some point of my life it made me cry like a kid with all these bad feelings and black cloud around me. But a very important thing to remember with this song is that it emphasize the importance of resilience, to encourage me to find strenght in myself, and to continue seeking out what can't be found. Thank you so much ! I'm feeling a lot better these days and I'll never forget it. Still overcoming everything but I'm sure I'll be fine !!
Soul stirring. It summons forth to mind the ghost of a memory once forgotten; and now remembered, it is as warmth of the sun on my face during a time when all I knew was the innocence of childhood.
What a beautiful song it saved me from my hard drugs addiction, my marijuana addiction, it healed my mental state and my heart❤, I resist what I can’t change this song changed my life! Thank you guys for this beautiful album and soul cleansing song named pain.
This is such an incredible band. I discovered them years ago through KEXP and I'm so happy to see them back again. Thanks to KEXP and TWOD for providing great music. I really appreciate it.
Go to bed now I can tell Pain is on the way out now Look at the way the domino falls away I know it's hard looking in Knowing that tomorrow you'll be back again Hang your head and let me in, I'm waiting So long I was staring into the light When I saw you in the distance, I knew that you'd be mine Am I moving back in time? Just standing still? I met a man with a broken back He had a fear in his eyes that I could understand I can't even shake the hand Without breaking it I've been pulling on a wire, but it just won't break I've been turning up the dial, but I hear no sound I resist what I cannot change And I wanna find what can't be found I'm aware of the time we lost Like a demon in the doorway, waiting to be born But I'm here all alone, just begging…
Every time I hear this song, it sounds new again and I can’t help the crying. It is so beautifully written, and the musicians are so incredible. All of it comes together in a place that goes to your heart that I have never known before. 1:16
I have listen to this song about 100 times and every single time brings tears to my eyes. The lyrics are so beautiful the music is astronomical and I don’t think I’ve heard of nicer song, I’m more beautiful song in a long time
I was pretty certain Strangest Thing was the best song on the album. Not so sure now. What a band. Can't believe they keep following up such amazing records like they are.
It’s great to hear music that’s not afraid to be reverent to past styles and make some excellent original songs without cheesy gimmicks. ‘Strangest Thing’ is real good, too. Glad I found this, and them. Dominoes are fun.
I just saw them Sunday oct 15 in Denver live and I will never get to see a show as amazing as that. This band is unbelievably talented and will forever be the best of their kind. I can't explain how grateful I am for their music.
Caught Saturday, twas epic! Perfect fit for the Ogden...shame they'll be bumping up to larger stages soon. Would be great at The Filmore, and possibly Red Rocks...but a lot would be lost.

Great Album..
God that resonates too strong....... I WANNA FIND WHAT CANT BE FOUND
Going through some chronic pain right now. It messes with your head. This song sums up a lot of what I cannot express into words

Man I would love to hear this on my dad's huge analog home stereo! I bet it sounds amazing. It just sounds like it was made for vinyl

One of the most beautiful songs I´ve ever heard!
KEXP and especially Cheryl have championed TWOD from day one. What a band they've evolved into.
Proof that familiarity can be just as transcendent. Absolutely gorgeous piece of Art.
Damn, this song is beautiful.
I swear, this is the best song in the world.

Randy f*cking Marsh on the drums!
LOL
I love that guy. So many drummers need to be pushed off their stool for looking like they are bored shitless. Not Charlie.
Look at him go!

The drummer looks like he's well and truly losing the war :)
Underrated comment man xD
Bravo, Standing ovation
Counter opinion - he is winning the war - with respect to this song (only)

I adore him. He is like the happiest drummer over ever seen

I been waiting so long for this.
I seen these live in Scotland at T In The Park, what a find. 2016. I bought the album. Class 👍🏻🏴
I love his voice so much. Love this band even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing feel, amazing mix, beautiful song, perfect arrangement! Goosebumps...
God bless artists like Mark Knopfler and Al Stewart :D
👍👍👍👍👍
I wasn't the only one who thought Al Stewart!
so many poetic freggin lines in this beautiful song :)

Simply Sensational...
This band are fantastic , the feeling of the lyrics and the playing, comes through in every song , truly special, remind me a bit of the water boys
favorite one from the new album.
Sometimes i feel like bands should just record their studio albums in the KEXP studio.
You're so right, my friend. I've also had similar thoughts. They've got phenomenal engineers who know their craft and love what they do.
Amazing, pure inspiring band, as always I have goosebumps! 10 of 10 Points! Regards from Barcelona!
This band ROCKS...👍👍
2021 still waiting for you
I heard this song for the first time on a flight from Japan to Paris and the truth is that my soul was higher than that plane. ❤
Strange how he switches lead, for acoustic and even some, electric solos.
I like it.
His voice reminds me of Bob Dylan, especially in the Album "infidels"
It's beautiful !!
Jules Henriel I saw them in San Sebastián (spain) so long ago and I thought... this voice is so so Dylan... By the way, I really love this band
so i'm not the only one thinking that!
Ann Kristin Vestnes :)
Actually this song in general definitely has a very Tom Petty vibe.
Joker man!
Just bought tickets to the Sydney show for February, so excited
Bass player wearing a Soundgarden t-shirt! Can't love them more

That was my exact thought when I found this song...
Between this and “up all night” for me. Great band
Best Rock Guitar and Synth this time

Lewis Russell *I’m aware you’re tired and lost
Heston Blumenthal your wrong buddy 👍🏼
Lewis Russell haha I have the lyrics with the album and it’s certainly not what you said!
simplemente, amo este tema
Bob Dylan vocals, Springsteen rhythm, Neil Young solo
Exactly what I thought after first listening: that is like Bob Dylan meets Neil Young
I definitely see the Dylan, and more so Springsteen, but I also feel a huge Phil Collins vibe in all this!
Don’t forget the Fleetwood Mac vibe
To me he sounds more like Don Henley, but I can see that
The Neil Young "3 note solo"
Got to be one of the best guitarist of this generation.
All their song get stuck in youre soul, love it!!
Randy Marsh tearing it up! 2021 & still a great song
Steamy ray Vaughan
The Best! Big thanks from Brazil.
Probably the best song ever written....
Wow. It's all there...and then some more. ❤🎵🎶🎸❤🎵🎶🎸❤😃❤🎸🎶🎵🎶🎸😃😃😃
2021 and still rocking this masterpiece 💯🔥❤️
"Pain"
Go to bed now I can tell
Pain is on the way out now
Look away and domino falls away
I know it's hard looking in
Knowing that tomorrow you'll be back again
Pin your head and let me in
I'm waiting
So long
I was staring into the light
When I saw you in the distance, I knew that you'd be mine
Am I moving back in time
Just standing still
I met a man with a broken back
He had a fear in his eyes that I could understand
I can even shake the hand
When I break it in
I've been pulling on a wire, but it just won't break
I've been turning up the dial, but I hear no sound
I resist what I cannot change
But I wanna find what can't be found
I'm aware you're tired and lost
Like a demon in the doorway, waiting to be born
But I'm here all alone, just begging
Pull me close and let me hold you in
Give me the deeper understanding of who I am
Yeah, I'm moving back again
I'm waiting here
I'm just pulling on a wire, but it just won't break
I've been turning up the dial, but I hear no sound
I resist what I cannot change, own it in your own way
Yeah, I wanna find what can't be found
All sublime musicians but that drummer is unreal.
I love this song!!! Oh yeah!
Discovered this yesterday under Indie Darlings iTunes playlist! Very Cool vibe slightly reminds me of widespread panic
