I find it funny the JW’s avoid “arguments” now but back in the 70’s when I was a Jehovah’s Witness they trained to argue. But now that others have better knowledge of the Word they want to avoid not having answers or their followers being led away from their truth. After growing up in that religion, and then being a Christian for 39 years it is very difficult to witness to them. Unless God opens their eyes it is next to impossible. I praise God that He open my eyes to what the Bible really says and what it really means! Great job, Preston keep it up!

Tonga Khan Greetings to you with the love of Christ! I can understand your skepticism, however, I became a Christian during a time when there was no social media whatsoever. So to assume I was snagged in by someone reeling in with false narrative when it doesn’t apply is really not a fair statement. I came to Christ from simply just reading the Bible! God was tangibly present that night! There was no one but Him and I and His Word! I did after that experience go to a church but it was a non denominational one. But that is besides the point. I am a follower of Christ because He is real and tangible in my life period not because of what others say or not say. I pray that He reveals himself to you in that same real way! May the God of all creation cover you in His love!

Patricia Arrigoni: With respect. People who read the bible and believe that God has given them a singular understanding end up starting a church of their own and having followers of their own (Acts 20:29,30).
The Ethiopian eunuch was trying to read the scriptures and understand them, Philip was sent to help him.
Today too, God has only ONE organization as promised (Haggai 2:7, Matthew 24:45-47). He promised to restore true worship during our time (Isaiah 2:1-4, Micah 4:1-5). By implication, it means all the churches which have existed for centuries have been part of false worship. Else, what need was there to restore something. These worshipers and disciples of Jesus would be used by Jesus to fulfill his prophecy at Matthew 24:14.
If one can identify these being used, then one could say that one has found God's people and thereby learn the truth (Zechariah 8:23, John 8:31,32).

The Perry's can do NO WRONG. PERIODT!!!

  • @ewankerr3011
    @ewankerr3011 4 роки тому +8

The first "red flag" for me is right at the beginning when Perry claims that Russell founded the JWs. If he cannot differentiate between Russell setting up the Watchtower and Bible Tract Society and the JWs who were set up after Russell's death, this does not augur wellfor the accuracy of his presentation. He then fails to differentiate between Bible interpretation / understanding and false prophecy. The Watchtower did not invent prophecy but tried to interpret the prophecies about the last days in the Bible . The best they can be accused of is a wrong interpretation, just as many have throughout the history of Christianity, including some of the greatest names in the movement who also got it wrong. Indeed, there are many scholars who argue that the Apostles and early Christians believed it was the time of the end in their writings. Does that make them false prophets too ?Perry next discusses John 1:1 and takes issue with the JW Bible's translation of this verse. However, he fails to mention that other Bibles have translated the verse likewise and differently from the King James. He does not explain why. Nor does he look at how similar Greek is translated elsewhere in the Bible and that the word "a" is added when it suits the translators. Indeed, the whole passage is glossed over in simplistic terms. He certainly does not deal with the issue of the Word being !with" God and at the same time being God. Nor does he deal with the fact that the prologue of John states that no one has seen God at any time but they all saw Jesus. It would have been helpful if he could have explained all this as the JWs will be sure to raise these points .He then looks at the Greek behind Col 1 :15 , the first born. Here he may be guilty of redefinitionism. He really struggles with the passage in Philip 2. He forgets what he has already said about what the JWs believe about the role of Jesus in creation and fails to acknowledge that the JWs believe that Jesus was a perfect man who had the potential for everlasting life but willingly sacrificed himself to die for mankind. Mr Perry resorts to a "straw man " argument to get out of difficulty. Likewise in verse 9, he fails to explain how God exalted him and gave him a name which is above every name. If Jesus is God, he would not need to be exalted or given a name. etc. To confuse matters further, Mr Perry starts using the word worship that does not feature in this passage in my KJV, nor does he appear to understand how the word is used in the scriptures and how the meaning of worship has changed over time in the English language.I was very disappointed with Mr Perry's talk. He did not even try to explain why they are called Jehovah's Witnesses. He failed to address the issue of the divine name entirely. He claimed a Watchtower publication was full of scriptures but that it was heresy, yet he did not give us any examples or say what the heresies were. He discussed his claim that Jesus was fully God and fully man, but gave us no supporting scriptures to use. Perhaps I am being harsh and Mr Perry was limited by time in his discussion. But if he thinks that this is really going to help people in their discussions with JWs, he is sadly mistaken. Mr Perry really has limited knowledge of his subject matter and you know what they say about people with a little knowledge.

Matthew the 3rd chapter versus 13 through 17. Highlights the baptism of Jesus… 13 "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, in order to be baptized by him. 14 but the latter tried to prevent him, saying: "I am the one who needs to be baptized by you, and are you coming to me?" 15 Jesus replied to him: "let it be this time, for in that way it is suitable for us to carry out all that is righteous." Then he quit, preventing him. After being baptized Jesus immediately came up from the water; and look! The heavens were opened up, and he saw God's spirit descending like a dove and coming upon him. 17 Look! Also, a voice from heaven said this is my son, the beloved, whom I have approved."
Markt chapter 1 verses 9 through 11, the baptism of Jesus… "In the course of those days. Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John, 10 and immediately on coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens being parted and, like a dove, the spirit coming down upon him. 11 and a voice came out of the heavens: "you are my son, the beloved: I have approved. You."
Luke the 3rd chapter versus 21 and 22. Highlight the baptism of Jesus… "Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus too was baptized. As he was praying the heaven was opened up 22 and the Holy Spirit in bodily form, like a dove came down upon him, and a voice came out of heaven: "you are my son, the beloved: I have approved. You."
A most interesting thing about these 3 accounts is something that should be noted. We are constantly told that the Holy Spirit is a person. But how can this possibly be true. When we consider the words of these 3 accounts of the very same incident, the baptism of Jesus. It is notable that in all 3 of these accounts. The Bible does not say that the person of the Holy Spirit came down upon Jesus, it does not even intimate that the Holy Spirit is a person, if the Holy Spirit were a person would it not have been more appropriate that its appearance would've been in that of a person? This would've been the perfect opportunity and would've left no doubt that the Holy Spirit was a person. However, the account does not reveal the Holy Spirit to be a person. Yes, we see the account says the Holy Spirit came down like a dove… Interesting, it says like a dove, obviously what was seen, of it descended upon him… But it was not a dove, but the action of it, descending from heaven was like a dove, likened to a bird in flight landing upon Jesus. What better opportunity could there have been for the Holy Spirit to manifest itself as a person. If it were indeed a person. Despite what Trinitarian say about the Holy Spirit. We given the opportunity for it to be manifest in Scripture, it is interesting to note that it is never manifest as a person. It has been manifested, appearing as if it were tongues of fire, it has also manifested itself landing upon Jesus like a dove, if the Holy Spirit were indeed a spirit person would it not have been appropriate for it to appear. Having the appearance of a person…? If it were indeed a person. This would've been the perfect opportunity for it to show itself as having the appearance of a person… And yet that is not what we see in the Scriptures at any time, the lack of evidence in these 3 accounts written from 3 different perspectives, omits any evidence of the sort.

The Holy Spirit is a person, He's not an "it". Acts 5:3-4 "Holy Spirit" and "God" are used interchangeably. John 15: 26-27 (The Spirit of Truth who proceeds, not which or that). Isaiah 48:16. John 14:16-18, the word "Another" prefixing Helper, in the Greek language, means of the same species or one like me (i.e. God) here as well "whom" and "He" "Him" is used not it. So many other scriptures outline this and it's notable that Genesis 1:1, the name of God used there is "Elohim" which is plural for Eloha and supports Deuteronomy 6:4, the Bible says the Lord is one, "one" in the original language is "echad" which means compound unity, this is the same "one" used in Genesis 2:24 that speaks about the man and woman becoming one flesh. This is opposed to the word "yahid" which is the singular "one".

Preston you say that The trinity of three Father Son and Holy Ghost, did you know that Matthew 28: 19 is very controversial, some of the earlier Fathers believe that was a corrupt verse from Oregon. To be Baptized in the name of Father the Son and the Holy Spirit (Ghost) so let's see what it says in Acts 2:38 .....in Matthew it points out that all his disciples were with him when he said this in verse 19. And Peter being taught by Christ wouldn't make a mistake in repeating what Jesus said in Matthew and we see what exactly was repeated here in Acts 2:38. And if you do what it says in Acts about repent something would be a gift.

I beleive that first before Jesus was born of Mary He was The WORD. In heaven God is One in essence. Only when the Word decides on His own to be the Messiah and to empty Himself of His Eternal Glory is when it is revealed that God is 3 in person. Prior to that their only was The Almighty ElShaddai we see this in Isaiah 10:21 where the Word is being exalted. Before Jesus being born the Trinity was not as clear as it is in the N.T. as we know it now. Yes in the O.T. there was GOD one being one essence but it was not understood as God 3 in person. The Hebrew word ’elo·him′ (gods) appears to be from a root meaning “be strong.” ’Elo·him′ is the plural of ’eloh′ah (god). Sometimes this plural refers to a number of gods (Gen 31:30, 32; 35:2), but more often it is used as a plural of majesty, dignity, or excellence. ’Elo·him′ is used in the Scriptures with reference to Jehovah himself, to angels, to idol gods (singular and plural), and to men.
When applying to Jehovah, ’Elo·him′ is used as a plural of majesty, dignity, or excellence. (Gen 1:1) Regarding this, Aaron Ember wrote: “That the language of the O[ld] T[estament] has entirely given up the idea of plurality in . . . [’Elo·him′] (as applied to the God of Israel) is especially shown by the fact that it is almost invariably construed with a singular verbal predicate, and takes a singular adjectival attribute. . . . [’Elo·him′] must rather be explained as an intensive plural, denoting greatness and majesty, being equal to The Great God.”-The American Journal of Semitic Languages and Literatures, Vol. XXI, 1905, p. 208.

Did God make a mistake that sinful men needed to correct? The Bible makes it very clear Elohim refers to Jehovah. Jehovah is not the name of the Father, rather, Jehovah is the name of the Godhead, which consists of the Father, Word and Holy Spirit. These three are one God, Jehovah.

"Firstborn"(Grk prototokos) can mean ANYTHING except "first one BORN". You say it means "Preeminent". The firstborn son was generally Preeminent receiving his father's blessing. (Jacob/Esau) but prototokos does not logically exclude "firstborn" as first generated. Mary had a "firstborn" son Jesus. This does NOT mean Jesus WASN'T born FIRST but just "Preeminent". Matt 1:25 KJV

@year1914 This will open up a Can of theological worms for you brother. (Beware) I suspect Arius of Alexandria cited Col 1:15,Pro 8:22(LXX),& Rev 3:14 to Substantiate the prehuman Logos was the "First of the creation of God,""The Lord created me FIRST". The binitarians countered ,Christ was "Eternally GENERATED but NOT made". (See Apostles Creed) God the Son IS "FIRST"in RANK of creation. Jesus was "Created" NOT in sequence(time) but in dispensational work or OFFICE of commencement. (Redeemer)Hence they want the best of both worlds. (Good luck kid. You're about to Hit the beaches of Normandy on this one.)

Preston....it was the "Word" that empty himself not Jesus, when the "Word empty himself he did give up his divine powers, all his miracles and words were of the Father not of himself. Bring Lazarus back to life was a act from the Father through Jesu the human. Yes he continued to have the nature of the Godhead (2) but stripped himself of it. Yes he was God in the Flesh . What did the "Word" (Now Jesus the Human) ask for when he returned to Heaven? He asked for his divinity back like it was before the "Word" became flesh (Jesus).

the REAL Question ?????????? is , Is Jesus a created spirit person or is he a uncreated spirit person...……...The bible says yes while trinitarians say no.…...Jehovah says YES, trinitarians say no .Jesus says I live , because of the father, trinitarians say no. does Jesus he has a God? Y-E-S, trinitarians say No .Last but not least does the bible tell the true truth YES , TRINITARIAN theology, not so much...….sad if this is not so ,please prove it by scripture and example...…..

But I think he wants you to provide a "scriptural systematic" understanding of the relationship between the Subordination of the Son to the Father ,while maintaining his EQUALITY in NATURE to the Father. Good Luck. This is an Old debate ,circa 325AD.

Instead of listening to this guy rambling on and on., WHY DON'T YOU READ THE SCRIPTURES FOR YOURSELF? please read Revelations 14 verse 1 to 5 for yourself and see if it does not speak of the 144,000 who were redeemed from the earth ? Then continue on to verse 6 and see if it does not speak of THE EVERLASTING GOSPEL FOR THOSE WHO DWELL ON THE EARTH.? PLEASE READ IT FOR YOURSELF.
PLEASE READ MATTHEW 5 and verse 5, BLESSED ARE THE MEEK FOR THEY SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH.
PSALMS 37 verse 11, says, THE MEEK SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH AND SHALL DELIGHT THEMSELVES IN THE ABUNDANCE OF PEACE. And verse 29 says, THE RIGHTEOUS SHALL DWELL UPON THE EARTH FOREVER.
IF JESUS IS GOD, WHY did he say at Mark 10 verse 18, WHY DO YOU CALL ME GOOD, NOBODY GOOD BUT ONE, THAT IS GOD? IF JESUS IS GOD WHY WOULD HE SAY THAT?
IF JESUS IS GOD, WHO THEN WAS IT WHO SAID, MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAS THOU FORSAKEN ME? and who was he talking to, HIMSELF?
IF JESUS IS GOD, 1 JOHN 4 verse 12 says, NO MAN HAS SEEN GOD AT ANY TIME, didn't people see Jesus? BESIDES NO MAN CAN SEE GOD'S FACE AND YET LIVE, DON'T YOU KNOW THAT?
1 JOHN 4 verse 15 says WHOSOEVER DECLARES THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD, GOD IS IN HIM AND HE IN GOD.
1 JOHN 5 verse 5 say, WHO IS IT THAT CONQUER THE WORLD BUT HE WHO DECLARES THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD.
ANY SENSIBLE PERSON WHO READS DANIEL 12 verse 1 and 2 must conclude the both accounts are speaking of the same event and the same person, MICHAEL IS JESUS. If MICHAEL is not JESUS, how then did he get the book (scrolls)? Revelations 5 verse 1 to 5 says, NO ONE IN HEAVEN OR ON THE EARTH, IS WORTHY TO OPEN THE BOOK ( scrolls) OR EVEN LOOK ON IT, but JESUS. SO HOW DID Michael get the book.??
It is nice that you are misleading these people into believing that they have some big TRUMP CARD to play against JEHOVAH WITNESSES,, when they do, the witnesses will be able to teach them the truth and let them read it for themselves.

Sal Suazo: Is this a new theology or an old one?
Galatians 4:4 But when the full limit of the time arrived, God SENT his Son, who was born of a woman and who was under law, 5 that he might release by purchase those under law, so that we might receive the adoption as sons.
John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that he GAVE his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.
Best is to let the bible lead one to the truth.

This poor child is all twisted up. He think he know the JWs beliefs but he's so far from it. In John 1:1 the question is, in the beginning of what? That Is the question. There are two separate in the beginnings. 1. In Genius 1:1 and 2. In John 1:1. One is the beginning of creation and the other is the beginning of the Word. If you believe that Jesus is God then you cause a contraction of scripture. For example, John 1:18 say no man has every seen God at ANY TIME. no matter what type of body he may possess. any time mean at ANY TIME. now there's a problem, per this guy teaching John 1:1 and John 1:18 is now a headlock. Why? because 1000s of people including his disciples saw him in person John 6:46 and. Exodus 33:20 say those who did see Jesus, if Jesus is God should have been dead a long time ago before Christ was every crucified. Since no man has seen God and live.
