PRS guitars are sooo beautiful in shape and specially in sound
I love these vids, they actually show the guitar on multiple settings unlike EVERY other vid on the internet.
That clean korina sound was really nice.
5 way selector splits the coils on the humbucking pickups. so you get the sound of 2 singlecoils as well as 2 humbuckers. hope that helps.
position 1> bridge set to humbucker
position 2> bridge set to single coil
position 3> bridge+neck , i believe set to single coil
position 4> neck set to single coil
position 5> neck set to humbucker
This guy is a great guitarist; shreds like crazy on metal guitars
Nice guitar. I would kill for Paul's job.
Dude he is reviewing the guitar, he shows how it would sound on all pickups to give the viewer a chance to hear it.
the tone on the c24 reminds me of some classic AC/DC sounds
Opeth uses PRS guitars, they get brutal distortion along with beautiful cleans! You should check them out bro!
I wish they would tab what he plays cuz I'd love to play it!!! especially his solo on the CE Alder...
So what amp or effects or both are you using and running through? very nice tone and riffs by the way Paul....Thankx for your reply Ray
Sorry, maybe I was misunderstood in my last post when I said "I can't reccomend them highly enough". I love PRS guitars, they are fantastic instruments and would suggest everyone at least play one to experience these fine guitars. I've own one for years and it is simply the best guitar I have ever owned. My appologies for any confusion in my previous post.
@sebsoriano19 top switch is volume, mid switch is tone, bottom switch is the pup selector.
the ability to split coils is great. I dont know if i am a huge fan of a rotary switch though.
Ive had the CE Mahogany 24 for around 3 years which sits inbetween these two (tonally), I cant reccomend PRS highly enough to anyone looking for a pro standard guitar.
The CE models are discontinued now but you can still get the Swamp Ash Special and the Johnny Hilland models which are boltons exactly the same as the CEs just using different (and in cases higher grade) woods.
BOTH SOUND GREAT ALDER IS A SUCH A GOOD WOOD FOR ROCK.....
I have the exact PRS CE24 Alder guitar Paul is playing in this video and it's for sale. It's still new and has not been played. If you are interested let me know. The guitar is located in Minnesota.
And why is that? Any particular thing about Schecters that you do not like?
Have you seen the Tempest Classic. Looks Great, Sounds Great, and the reviews suggest that it is very well put together.
The guitar reviewed here is over 2000 dollars.
i like the les paul switching the best. also its the best for switching tones and volumes because of the 2 volume controls. its great for playing ryhthym on one pick up and then going to leads on another. very convienient
On the Mira. . how well does the intonation sound with the single tail piece? Sounds good to me on the review that Paul did. . but are they hard to dial in - the intonation above the 12th fret. I am leaning more to the Starla - the model that does not have the Bigsby.
man this guy is just immense at guitar watch the epiphone prophecy range review
the playing is just amazing
hey there's the c-1 classic it's got sweet inlays that are vines and they cost like 700$
@dpapaioannow the wraparound style bridge has a set screw on each post and is machined so that if you get both E's perfect, all should be good... and FYI, no guitar intonates perfectly...
i Have a korina flying v, this wood really makes the guitar sounds peculiar
So the 5 way switch changes the pickup from humbucking to single coil?
thats unusual oO
i liked it.
Korina sounds so damn nice
@Manaslash i have played a epiphone les paul for some years(before i bougth a prs se custom 24) . the epiphone is realy great, but if you like it i think you will like the prs se guitars more
the only Ibanez I know of available in korina is Paul Gilberts Fireman and it's $10,000. As "evidenced" by this vid and vids of the fireman, korina and single coils go AWESOME together.
PRS is d best electric guitar hands down!
@SchoepsMusic I couldn't agree more! Of course it doesn't sound exactly like a Stratocaster 'cause single coil pickups are also a part of that sound and the PRS CE Alder 24 features humbuckers which makes it sound more like a Charvel than a Fender Stratocaster ;) I'm also somewhat put off by the prospect of buying a korina bodied guitar after watching this video. The Korina McCarthy's mids sound hollowed out :/ I hope I'll see another video which would convince me on a positive judgement though
is this guitar good for metal as well? im looking for a guitar and im in between jackson bc rich and prs any suggetions?
Especially the 1st one (CE Alder), sound is very vintage no matter how much gain he threw on it. Starting at 4:10 it still sounds vintage-ish, not saying that's a bad thing I love vintage tone. anyone know the amp being used?
sound like AC/DC, Paul you're the best.
generaly what kinda sound does alder give? is it more a mid-range or high rang sound?
i guess in comparison for tone to the PRS, I like them as a lower priced guitar, but in terms of against a good strat or gibson I wouldn't say I like them because of tone. Also some schecters I have tried feel weird because of the necks and the way they are set up stock
i want a Paul Reed Smith... fender and prs are the best guitars in the world. a sweet sound.
That rotary control knob is a deal-breaker for me. You would never catch me buying a guitar without a blade or toggle switch, so you know exactly where you are going.
I have a problem with the volume drop when splitting the coils. Any way to get that fixed?
I wanna have Pauls Job! :-))
yes, I'm not a huge fan of schecter though. I did like the C-1 I think though.
The stop tail bridge is great for intonation, you have to know how to set it up, it has height adjustment. The truth is prs make great quality versatile guitars. You can not argue otherwise. Especially against a lot of the shit Gibson puts out.
@jedlro Ya the telecaster is an ornament on my wall...And the Les Paul r8 is the one I play. For what ever reason you like Fenders, no big deal ! I just think pre cbs they were decent but not now...
Great guitars...
what amp is he using and is he using any effect pedals ??
Brilliant vid, damn wish i could afford one!!
PRS or ESP?
Of course you can compare them
PRS was built to hybrid a Les Paul and a strat
certainly sounds strat like... not like a real strat, but sure it has a really hearable touch! like it more than the "original" custom 24!
does the whammy hold tune after a divebomb?
what does he mean the first one doesn't sound like a strat?
@MrHaakon386 they are pricey but its not like youre paying for the name. you pay for the quality and tonewoods used. theyre totally worth the money! i have a high end 24 and its a huge difference from the se's
how much do they cost?? please i need the price
@88mpny Thats a good point. I played one and also didn't find it to be amazing. It was decent, but nothing special. Besides Carvins are like half the price.
awesome!
@davidrg1550 Why can't you recommend them? Plenty of pros use 'em.
By the way, I'm not saying your money is wasted on mahogany because it sounds bad, I'm saying that manufacturers just spend way more money on it because it's traditional, and now there's trade restrictions which hike the price up. Money is better spend on African mahogany or a different wood entirely. but many manufacturers use Honduras still despite the price.
what colour is that model in
@StephenFiorentini depends on what you like and your playing style
bolt ons rock. bolt throughs are even better. the wood on wood action makes for much better transfer than glue allows. if the pocket is well done, the fit should be extremely tight and result in a great sounding guitar.
@sebsoriano19 Yeah it does, the 2nd knob is the master tone :)
prs have a versatile clean tone. and it's distortion sound is a lot of pick attack. whick good for shred. maybe not suitable for death metal stuff tho.
wat genre is this good for
awesome
How much was it?
fuckin love watchin this guy play man!! he dus the most decent reviews and demos on youtube!!! and reminds me of michael J fox lmfao
I wonder what amp he uses when he does guitar reviews....
can some 1 send me a link for somewhere to buy this
why he keep changin pickups?
They sound great, but it's really annoying they're telling what amp he's using, or if there's any pedals involved. Both come into play quite a bit, and yet it's being ignored.
The alder PRS sounds best. I like PRS in general, but I just wish that wouldn't have to practically sell my house to buy one. Then again, most are US made, so I can partially sympathise with that.
my god only if i could have tht sound
prs looks cool but i dont think they make heavy sounds. maybe if u add seymour d blackouts n heavy distortions. n the thing suck is the whammy...u cant pull bac
6:48 Paul playing WHITE LION "WAIT" slowly though
PRS do not measure up to the Strat sounds (they do not have the bite or the wolf tone).....their Les Paul sound is more convincing...I own five so this is not just idle speculation. Their strength is in my opinion their versatility ,ergonomics and superb woods and craftsmanship. I also happen to dislike their new outline birds that look cheap to me...any opinions on the subject?
"Does not sound like a strat" Yes, it does. A strat with PRS humbuckers. :p (Not that it would be a bad thing of course.)
PRS GUITARS ARE SO FUCKIN BEAUTIFUL
CE doesn't have a tone nob?
im hopefully getting a custom 24 for my bday!!!!! hehehehe im fuckin stoked
Micheal J. Fox works are Guitar World now?!?!?
at 9:00 sup def leppard licks?
yeah dude even tho theyre not meant to be heavy but opeth, slipknot, linkin park, chevelle, breaking benjamin, between the buried and me made prs heavy
He says it sounds like a prs. i think it sounds brighter. when i think prs tone i think Gibson
man i wish i could have Paul's job, and these guitars are damn sexy.
when i said heavy i meant the tone. plus their tones arent even heavy......thats y i names those band up that made them heavy
That Korina is the only PRS guitar I've heard sound good.
@moseseseseses You've never played a prs have you? do you realize the quality that goes into making these? after every process, such as the finish, set up etc...it is sent out to quality control, if it doesn't meet spec they send it back and the process is redone. If they have a guitar that can't be fixed they literally SAW IT IN HALF. price is determined by cost of production, quality, and demand. PRS have high cost of production, unparalleled quality, and high demand= high price
@MoneyPieBoy Basically all your doing is taking away the low frequencies of the sound. Bass Booster would do the trick im sure
Loving my Fender doesn't put it in the same class as my PRS. Look into g&l it's what Fender is supposed to be.
You cant compare prs and gibson they re both good
Schecter offers coil splitting on most of their guitars.
@church400c yeah rocks
great guitars but to expensive. i recomend the prs se custom 24.
great............
The korina sounds like a fat strat to me, but man I love that sound and the guitar.
@UhMysteryGuest for sure
@Songwriter4God He said he can't recommend them ENOUGH
It must be hard recording for 10 mins.
"Better tone" is a dumb term. It's purely a matter of preference. Mahogany doesn't have a "better" tone than alder, they have different tones. People assume because mahogany costs so much money that makes it "better" Better, no, but it IS the tone of lots of wasted money if that's what you're going for.
PRS guitars are very well made and give you a good bang for you buck. Maybe a tad overpriced (75-150 bucks or so), but honestly, what guitar isn't (unless it is a REALLY cheap guitar)
easy for u too say....i only have a telecaster...huhuhuh...i wish my mom would give me a stratocaster this christmas...
so is a squier.
