    • @wolfgaunt

What I think is happening is that his arm is just providing tension to the other side and giving him some leverage, while the jacket is actually doing the choking.

Fights aren't stationary, and while it is important to come to grips with what you are doing in a dead drill, a demonstration of how it works in a live drill would be appreciated to show how to get to that choke and what entry to use, as well as when it is applicable.

Fun fact! The blood choke works by only needing to put pressure on one side because of baroreceptors. What you are actually doing is stimulating the Vagus nerve on the side of the neck. One runs on each side of the neck but only one side being stimulated is needed. What happens when this nerve senses increased pressure it creates a sudden drop in your blood pressure, causing you to pass out. Very complex body mechanics for a simple end result :)

I would love to see an episode dedicated to defense against an armed opponent. Particularly one armed with a knife. General strategy for either disarming, disabling, or evading attacks with a pointed or sharp edged weapon would be brilliant!

They'll say what everyone else does, if you are out armed best to start running

David Oh I don't disagree, making an exit is almost always the best decision, but should anyone ever be in a situation where the individual with the weapon is between you and the exit, say in an alley or in a room with one exit, being able to either control the situation in such a way that allows you to be re-positioned to exit, or if thats not possible disarm or disable. But first and foremost if you can simply vacate a situation safely that's absolutely the wisest choice

Whistling Duck Pro, I'm teaching a seminar on this subject in a couple of weeks! I will let the Brian and Jason know we should add some edge weapon defense to the list! :)

What's the point, choking is my signature move, I can already lift people by the neck.
