    Pro-tip for those watching at home: If you're going to use a sling, swing it away from yourself. Worst case scenario: Rock releases early and lands in front of you.
    Also: Solid pouch is good for more uniform projectiles and a split pouch(2 or 3 string) is better for rocks and darts, if you're into that sort of thing.

    So what you guys made are called Short Slings, these you normally won't swing around like David and Goliath style as it won't do much, and in reality you can just swing and throw it as if you were throwing the rock itself. Also, if you do make a Long Sling (something that you can actually swing), make sure you do not spin it like a helicopter as fast as you can. You need to go just fast enough to keep the shot in the pouch. The point of Swinging it is so that who ever is wielding the tool knows when to release. After a few dozen attempts you start to 'feel' when the rock naturally wants to leave and go in the direction you want it to. Get the feel then on the last spin, right near the end, give it a flick as if you were throwing something and it should go where you want it to.

    As someone who has about an hour of experience with a sling, one thing I figured out was to put a knot in the string without the loop, at the point you grip it [and that point should be where both sides of the pouch are even), both for a bit more grip, and so you can quickly find that point. I never got to try for accuracy, because the only place I had access to that I deemed safe a beginner, was from a beach, to the ocean, and there are a distinct lack of targets in the ocean.

  • @NPC20567
    @NPC20567 4 роки тому

    The sling shares a principle with the slingshot (or any weapon for that matter) the more aerodynamic your projectile, the less air can move it off target. So a flat baggie was probably the worst choice you could've made. That being said it's also a good skill to learn how to make your own weapons out of cordage and other materials that can be naturally found

  • @joewilson3575
    @joewilson3575 4 роки тому

    I've never held para cord, but it sounds vaguely elastic. If that is the case, some of the energy is used stretching the sling instead of throwing the stone, for example wool yarn slings are so stretchy that so much energy is lost to make them not useless but very close to it.
    I've seen another comment mention split pouches, which I can attest are versatile for stones of different shapes and sizes and also they're probably easier to make, store compactly (for you tactical concealed carriers out in the states) as they use less volume and in my opinion look pretty cool compared to the woven kind shown here.

Although you will want a longer sling:body ratio than you currently have, you seem to be suffering from projectile dysfunction

    If you keep hitting the same spot every time like that, don't try to change your entire upper body motion... just turn your feet a few degrees counterclockwise in the case of the rock, or clockwise in the case of the change bag. You'll be a lot more successful, because you were very consistent with where you were hitting.

    I made one of these to throw mini tennis balls for my dog. The other comments are right, throwing overarm is much more reliable and easy to aim.
