Welcome to this years Moisties, where we reveal the best and worst movies and video games to hit the screens for the year. This year has been a major dampener for nearly everyone, but luckily Moisties season doesn't take a siesta. Remember, these are SCIENTIFICALLY ACCURATE so any other opinions are factually wrong. We don't make the rules. The Moist Meter does.
The Moist Meter is an experimental measurement system that you can use to safely gauge just how moist a video game or movie is going to be before playing it or viewing it. Avoid the dry products and only use the wettest.

I will never forgive michael olson for spoiling that there was an invisible man in The Invisible Man
I don't... What?
Yeah, I haven't seen the movie myself but I'm pretty sure it would be a better experience to watch the movie while not really knowing whether Invisible Man is real or just part of the main character's imagination. Not knowing the truth from the get-go would be part of the thrill. Classic example of a movie trailer giving away too much.

Fun fact: In 1917 the way the scenes were shot was inspired by Red Dead Redemption. The director saw his son playing the game and was mesmerized by the camera in the game so did something like that for this movie.
That's actually really cool. A great movie inspired by a great game.

The point of 1917 is that you’re seeing a day in the life of two soldiers in active duty. They don’t sit around and talk about themselves and their home lives. Of course you’re not gonna get to know them. That’s kinda the point.
Ye the scenes are gritty and real unlike some over-exaggerated hyperbole of a movie that is most of Hollywood war films.

the way that one of the main character(can’t remember the name) is killed by the heartless German pilot and stabbed is really shocking and shows how delusional and dedicated some Germans were to killing the British and how awful the war made people act and survive.
@@owenJCC wow bro
Exactly, people who hate on this film are pretty dumb if the writing is their reasoning.
@@owenJCC how were the British any better?
Yeah they were treated as numbers in the war, not people. I like how they kept the characters as somewhat "blank slates" as that's how every soldier was viewed as by their fellows / superiors, just fodder.

The characters in 1917 weren't written that deeply because you weren't supposed to connect to them too much. They were supposed to be seen as just 2 normal soldiers being given a very important task. How their journey plays out is what the story is about, not the two of them specifically.
EXACTLYYYY
Perfect explanation 👍🏻
As a Brit who’s area was heavily affected by WW, the fact they’re regular soldiers impacts the film more (for me anyways). The shit they went through during the film could’ve happened to any soldier from anywhere in the country no matter who they were. I think them not revealing much about their past was also a nod to the fact of how much soldiers changed during WW1 being away from their home for so long in such horrid conditions.
I feel Saving private ryan is a better version of 1917...ofc the cinematographer of 1917 was better but story wise saving private ryan was just amazing

@@noncog1 for what reasons?
@@noncog1 and don’t say it was confusing cause that’s just on you
@@milesclaussen3689 what was confusing about tenet? It was straightforward and pretty much every plot scene was specifically there to explain something or say "hey dont think about this part because we thought it would be good for the movie but we wont know how to make it work in the movie, so yeah, just dont think about it" they literally tell the protagonist not to think about the main mechanic... there's no character development, it feel like the protagonist cares about the girl solely because the writers wanted him to care about something, the Indian women's entire contribution to the movie was as a way to tie things in, as a matter of fact that's most of the characters. Dialogue was shallow, action wasnt engaging, plot was a string of cool ideas forced together, which can work, look at hardcore henry, but they didnt work, it all felt forced and shallow. I dont see how anyone can be confused by a movie that puts all the answers in your face, I can however see how someone would be disappointed by a movie so poorly written that they have to put all the answers in your face, because they cant work them in naturally, and yet still some people dont get it. They didnt even give the lead character a name. That works if it's a "it's about the story, not the characters" movie, but it wasnt, they tried to give him character, the sub-plot with the girl proves that. And the character of the antagonist changes scene for scene depending on how they wanted the scene to feel. Why didn't he just kill his wife? After the painting fiasco played out he had no reason not to just up and kill her. He should've killed the protagonist instead of trusting him, why did he want to end the world? I know why they say he wanted to, but again it felt like they just wrote in the laziest answer. And the whole future destroying the past back-plot is the most egregious example of lazy writing with no effort in really convincing the viewer in the whole movie. Plot lazy, writing lazy, dialogue shallow, action un-engaging, characters lazy, film bad. I'm not the only one who feels this way, plenty of critics agree, I saw one review that ended by saying something along the lines of "the fact that Hollywood wanted me to risk public health for this movie almost feels insulting"
The noncog guy kinda destroyed you lol, but yeah Tenet really wasn’t it chief, and that’s coming from a Nolan super-stan. It just didn’t have a plot/story good enough to go with the zero-character route, kinda like how he did in Dunkirk. That movie was successful to me because we all went in knowing it was first and foremost an explicit depiction of war. I went into Tenet with the expectation that it would have a nuanced, interesting physics/sci-fi story akin to Inception, but we both know Inception is tiers above Tenet, when it shouldn’t be at all.
2020: Garbage Can Movies
2021: Moist Meter The Movie
Unfortunately America canceled New Years so we’re stuck with 2020

I sense a lack of Borat 2
All though the invisible man trailer did suck dont just blame the person who was in charge of editing the trailer don't forget the person that approved the trailer
I’m sad no ones mentioning Aaron Sorkin’s “Trial of Chicago 7”
That was so fire
True, amazing movie
Aaron Sorkin never disappoints
I JUST DIDI'T FELT THAT WAS SO GREAT... TOO MUCH OFF OF REALITY
because it’s shite
TENET was my favorite movie this year. I had a wonderful opportunity to be the only person in my theater haha so I had an excellent experience. Ended up seeing it 3 times in theaters and bought the Bluray! Weathering With You is also an incredibly beautiful animated movie! Definitely one of my favorites this year!
While it has all the traits of Nolan movie, I feel like it's one of his weakest works.
@@TheLightWing I dunno... I mean I feel like it gets better and better every time I go back to it. I've seen it 5 times now and I find myself picking up on new things every time. I just admire the filmmaking on display. Every part in the movie where the film is in reverse is just stupidly impressive. Not only that but I find it to be one of his strongest action films. The movie all the way through is pretty spectacular, and the soundtrack is the best I've heard in recent memory. I certainly enjoyed it a lot more than Interstellar and a few other Nolan films. Give this a few more years and I genuinely think It'll get the respect it deserves.
@@fablejoey3666 [SPOILERS] I agree that movie gets better by re-watching but here's where I feel it lacked, Nolan is known for his character development and this movie simply has none. The scientific concept of pincer movement in time is explained in 2-3 dialogues and it makes hard for the viewer to follow. The protagonist promises the female lead only to betray her with the painting just because he wanted to get close to Sator. He didn't care for her then but cares enough to put his life on line when she takes the lead to travel through inverted world which didn't feel organic and felt like it was just dragging the plot. Important death at the end didn't feel impactful because there was no reason to even care for the character. And at the scene of hypocenter, I bet half of the people didn't even know what's going on because of the shaky camera movement. Despite all these, the movie is pretty good in terms of soundtrack and cinematography. As they said, I tried to feel it and don't understand it but I didn't as there was no emotional investment in the characters. Just a reminder that it's my personal pov, don't attack me tenet fanboys, I like the movie too.
@@TheLightWing(Spoilers) I can definitely see where your coming from. However I guess I feel for the characters a bit more than you do. Kat specifically is actually one of my favorite Nolan characters. The boat "flashback" scene in the restaurant in particular the 2nd time I saw the film really hit me. I also really enjoyed The Protagonist and Neil. I just think it's really interesting to learn the protagonist was behind every single thing that happened in the film. I think it leaves a lot for the viewer to think about, which I appreciate. I also think the Protagonist has a change of heart with Kat after he realizes the true situation that she's in because of Sator's behavior, and just generally how brutal he is. I feel like after he sees how violent Sator is, with that gold brick scene and when Kat breaks down to him, he kinda realizes the situation she's in a bit clearer. With Neil I can see where your coming from, I guess I just like him a lot because of Pattison's performance, and learning that he's kept the fact he's actually very close friends with the Protagonist for the sake of the mission, was pretty great for me. (Also I know it would never happen but I feel like a TENET sequel that explores that relationship further would be wonderful.)
@@TheLightWing Anyway absolutely not hating on you or your opinion, I think you had such an awesome way of explaining some things you didn't like! Not just saying "it was too loud" or "it was confusing" like a lot of critics out there. (I also wanted to mention something you said about TENET lacking the emotional aspect that Nolans other films have. Because for me anyway I feel like no one talks about Inception the same way they do TENET. (Don't think I dislike Inception it's one of my all time favorites.) But I really only care for DiCaprio's character in that movie. (And Fischer however you spell that) I'd argue that everyone besides those 2 have little to no character development either. They don't necessarily have the strongest reasons for joining Cobb. There just kinda there, and they're all useful in some way. Still though they are really enjoyable and entertaining characters! That's kinda the same way I feel about Tenets side characters. Their relationships are kinda subtle and I personally enjoy that a lot. (Sorry if that was super confusing, been a long day lol.)
A little disappointed that soul wasn’t on the list cause Pixar shit on Disney’s movies and they just did a good job on it
The invisible man wasn’t trash? Man that trailer was bad then
Dude I know right! It looked like another shitty Blumhouse production but now hearing Jesus talk about it I wanna watch it
every movie on this list is trash
@@Animagus30 is your favorite movie endgame
@@Animagus30 what movies do you think should be on it then!
the movie was way worst than the trailer im actually surprised its not in the worst movies vid
An underrated goofy movie is: "the platform". Did he see it at all?
Probably not. That was definitely one of the greatest films of the year.
Don’t think so, your referring to the Spanish movie right?
The platform was good but not top 3
Ah yes. A worthy take on capitalism.
@@DhamaalGuy1 yeah maybe I mean I don’t even remember what movies I’ve watched this year that we’re as good
"I don't want to risk my life to go to the movies"
Theaters in Central FL might be the safest place in Florida right now. Everybody avoiding the theaters but they're packing into Pubelix like it's a nightclub
Doesn’t Florida have some of the most Covid cases though?
Kkonaw always #1
@@fakebird000 we have the highest Covid cases and the lowest cinema attendance. I saw Tenet on opening weekend in a completely empty theater. I thought I'd just gotten lucky, so I tried my luck again three more times. Never saw a soul in that theater besides myself and the staff, all of us wearing masks and keeping social distance.
So following the logic that no one is going to the movies, don't you think it would be safer than going to Disney? Or even your local grocery store? Aside from Target, most stores haven't even enforced masks *for employees*. That's before accounting for the dozens of shoppers who come in every day maskless.
I saw tenant a few nights ago, its spectacular. The way they use time travel and shit is mind blowing
The liberator on netflix is a pretty good show, yea its not a movie but it has 4 episodes and they are like 40 mins long worth the watch
The gentlemen and 1917 came out in late 2019 LOL
I really thought that "I'm thinking of ending things" would be on this list
Best movie of 2020 by far
I mean it is borderline inaccessible. It’s a movie that only film snobs would watch and enjoy. I don’t think Charlie is quite on that level but he’s pretty close
easily the best movie of the year. it's a movie that needs to be watched at least twice though and probably is pretty difficult and unenjoyable for the average viewer
@@frankmerker630 I mean the idea of the (spoiler?)
janitor and Jake being the same seemed pretty obvious from the start but the ideas it presents of how media informs our thoughts is so profoundly expressed
Because it's nothing special. Below average.
Host deserves an honorable mention because its basically a movie revolving around the pandemic and is also scary as hell.
