When he said The Mummy was a terrible movie, I about had a heart attack. And then I realized he was talking about the 2017 film and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Mars Needs Moms was a really depressing movie around the point where Gribble gave his backstory. He literally watched his own mother get vaporized in front of him, dooming him to hide in the trash disposal for decades with no ounce of affection or human interaction. The acting of his character was solid because I tear up every now and then when I see that scene.
It's so fucking great to hear Charlie talk so highly about Treasure Planet. That movie still remains an absolute staple in my childhood. It's a core memory for me.
I love Treasure Planet. It's a shame that it wasn't well received. Especially since Clements and Musker dreamed of making the project for years and the project was finally greenlit on the condition that they had to make: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules.
treasure planet was probably my favorite movie as a kid. i really related to the main character, my dad wasn’t home much and i just did my own thing while my mom worked her ass off to help me while my dad was busy working. i always dreamed of going on some big adventure away from the small town i was stuck in. i watched that movie probably a million times when i was a kid, good memories. edit spelling
Treasure planet not doing well because people didn't want to see 2d movies kinda makes sense because of how well dreamworks and especially Pixar were doing but at the same time Spirited away made like 300 million and howl's moving castle made like 200 million and those were both distributed by Disney at the time, so i feel like there has to be many other factors.
Treasure Planet is one of the main reasons I became a pilot. I have seen the movie so many times and every time I watch it now, all I can rememeber is the feeling of going to a faraway place, discovering new things and realizing that I accomplished my dreams I had when I watched that movie as a kid.
Treasure Planet was absolutely heartbreaking, I love that film and actually got a tattoo from it on my arm in May. It's such a lovely movie that doesn't rely on cheap relationships, and it can be really relatable for a lot of kids/adults.

ngl, I feel like Titan AE has the same "issues" with it that Sindbad (2003) does where it wants to tell this grand tale but is stuffed full of stuff and has poor pacing. Like, they're nostalgic as hell for me; but seeing them again as an adult definitely knocked them down a peg in my mind.
one thing was I´ve never heard of it, my friend had the dvd from somewhere, not sure if it was in cinemas in europe. That´s where i´ve seen it first I think and it happened to be on tv every onc ein a while. Must´ve been 11 around tthe time and I really loved it. Enough to find a physical copy and buy it after all this time
@@Moizsh10 yea you´re right the pacing and some other things could´ve be done better, but I still do like it. Probably wouldn´t like itt this much ,had i seen it as an adult first
Fun fact: The Final Fantasy movie only had one character with long hair because the animators found it so painstaking to animate at that point in technological progression.
Same thing happened in with Red XIII in the other movie they released. They had Red XIII show up for literally 2 seconds and it cost them like $180,000 to animate him
Titan A.E. was FIRE 🔥 it was one of those borderline adult cartoons that was edgy at times but I could appreciate it the older I get. I’d give it a 8.5 out of 10 for sure.
Turning Red being a flop makes sense when you take into consideration that Disney released it as another Straight to Disney+ film. it's like Disney actively wants to prevent Pixar from succeeding.
@@Gildedbeachrat I guess because Toy Story is a household name and Disney thought it'd be safer to put movies nobody knew beforehand onto a streaming service and put a "Toy Story" (those were sarcastic quotes) movie in theaters.
Moonfall feels like you're watching an apocalypse movie and when you're about halfway there ur instantly watching the entirety of the star wars saga. Its a true masterpiece

47 Ronin had some awesome special effects and a very interesting art direction. I don’t remember it being like the best movie ever or anything, but I remember enjoying it a lot
some times just because a movie floped dont mean its bad, just like just because a movie break records is good, look at fast and furious for example, each new movie break the record of the last and they are worst each year
"Treasure Planet failed because audiences didn't want 2D animation" Treasure Planet failed because it ran at almost no cinemas & had little if any advertising. There's not a kid I knew growing up who didn't love it but the studio seemed to hate it
So disingenuous to say it was 2D animation's fault too. It's hard to find 2D animated movies nowadays that are actually bad since all of them have stupidly high expectations to work towards.
You all have to remember that 3D animation with Toy Story and Shrek was the new hotness. You know how in Toy Story 2 how Stinky Pete talked about how Astronauts overtook Cowboys almost instantly? That's how it was in the early 2000s for animated movies. Gen X was also particularly annoyed by the anime invasion with Sailor Moon and Pokémon, and no they didn't differ that from other cartoons, and subsequently 2D animation was on the downswing. It was only with Princess and the Frog that we started to see studios care anymore. P+F was even advertised with the hype of "Finally! A 2D movie in the theaters again!" We all love 2D now because we're sick of 3D and CGI, plus the Anime Invasion has fully taken over. We all enjoy 2D animation in some form now.
Can confirm Titan AE was an amazing movie. Plots a little fuddled and the pacing can be off from time to time but I genuinely enjoyed it, even as an adult.
There's are some great animation flops, Iron Giant and a lot of recent stop motion movies for example. It's a real shame, but it's also nice when you find a hidden Gem that not many know about.
I wholeheartedly agree - was surprised to find this gem of a movie flopped in the box office. I almost feel like the movie might resonate more with audiences today. However, even as a kid I connected with the characters. The plot was maybe more “serious” than some other Disney animated films but I would still recommend it today.
Titan A.E. is one of the most underrated animated films ever. It's really in the same vein as Treasure Planet in terms of vibe, visual style, mixing 2-d and 3-d animation, flopping super hard at the box office, and having dedicated followings who consider them severely slept-on.
Yo fam I’m an upcoming UA-camr, and I make a range of entertaining reactions, vlogs, and a variety of other content and I’m still working on versatility, and quality but I guarantee you will find something you will enjoy🙏🏾‼‼
The Mummy 2017 had 2 memorable scenes that were awesome; the mummy in London and her powers and Jekyll/Hyde beating the absolute piss out of Tom Cruise's character.
Hyde beating up people was the best scene in that movie. In my opinion if it was a stand alone movie and wasn’t a continuation of The Mummy series it might’ve been okay. Like my mother enjoys the live action Milan despite it being nothing like the animated movie. I see Mulan, live action, as a stand alone movie and not part of the animated series which makes it okay in my opinion. I’d definitely watch Mulan over The Mummy though
Disney movies like Atlantis, Treasure Planet and John Carter are so underrated that they did not deserve to flop and the reason why they did was because Disney didn’t have much faith in them, saw them as a distraction and wanted to move to the next big thing that’s popular like CG animation or Star Wars.
Actually Disney had really big plans for Atlantis and was even planning to make an Atlantis section in one of its theme parks. But as u can see it flopped. So all big plans for it ended up being trashed
Vector embeddings are a slightly complex topic. So first off what are Vector Embeddings. You can store them in your own database. What are vector embeddings? Lets look at text embeddings. The word "food" can be represented by lots and lots of numbers. Now say you want a computer to scan a word's meaning. We want to capture a word's semantic embedding. Its about similar words converted to numbers. To understand how these numbers can help with other words, I have no clue because I am just typing what this vector lady is saying in the add to make my typing better as I am recovering from a head injury. Have a good day!
Titan A.E. is an underrated masterpiece and a true work of art in every sense of the word. Watch that movie ASAP and thank yourself for doing so later. The sad, inconvenient truth about why it flopped is because of a poor and confusing marketing campaign that failed to emphasize that the movie wasn't made for just one demographic. Whether you were a kid who loved animation, an adult who loved adventure, or regardless of age you simply love a good story; this movie was made for all of us.
I only ever say the trailer for Titan A.E, but it always stuck with me. So when first heard the words "Attack on Titan" with no context I thought it was a sequel
I actually remember seeing the first 5 seconds of ads for The Mummy, I really thought the dead silence was intentional, but I never did see enough of the ad for realize that it wasn't
I watched Mars Needs Moms as a kid, and I loved it. It taught me to love our parents, because you never know how good you've got it till you lose them.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within was the first photorealistic animated feature film and patient zero of the video game film adaptation model we see today. Unlike recent disasters (aka Halo), I enjoyed it. It had a very Sci-fi horror, Prey vibe. It was captivating to a much younger me.
Spirits Within was doomed to fail because it was a science fiction movie and had nothing even moderately related to Final Fantasy anywhere in the film. Audiences were completely baffled. It would be like if I were to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie where the entire film is about a reporter trying to uncover a scandal. Sure, it might be great, but there's nothing TMNT related in the feature!

Titan AE was actually a really good movie So much potential to expand on the universe either with comics or maybe even a cartoon. Too bad it flopped. I never realized how much it underperformed.
Went to the comments to say the same, I fucking Loved Titan AE as a kid! Hell, all of my friends did. I was bummed for a long time we didnt get a sequel. It would probably work as a show even better.
I absolutely loved moonfall. I was dying laughing in the theater at the end while they were flying around inside the moon. Added to my list of my favorite bad movies
@@quackkith you'll have to watch the movie, but the last 30 or so minutes is absolutely hilarious because the entirety of physics was ignored 🤣🤣 To quote another one of my favorite UA-camrs "we don't need physics where we're going!"
I remember how crazy people thought it was when these two Matrix movies were released within months of each other. It's commonplace nowadays with Marvel and a lot of other studios doing it, but it was a pretty big deal at the time.
I remember when I was a little kid, my mom rented Mars Needs Moms. I watched it, and I remember being so scared that my mom was going to get stolen if I didn't appreciate her enough. It's certainly funny to look back on now.
damn that must've been a time to be alive. i was a mere infant back then, but i still watched the movie all the time growing up, and even used to play the old pc game.
I remember making a comment about the Warner Bros. scene in Matrix Resurrections once and how it made me experience a feeling similar to what I imagine psychic damage feels like and someone got pissed off at me for it. It was literally an entire multimillion dollar company admitting to making crap on purpose and it's supposed to be... "genius"? It felt like art itself dying before my very eyes and the actual cyberpunk dystopia set itself in with the corporate pride infecting everything.
the key line from that scene was the "we're contractually obligated for one more game." just tells you the wachowski's didn't have a choice, so they didn't care. its not meta, its not genius, its just their warning to the audience that "we had to make this stinker so here's your warning, cuz fuck WB."
I love the original trilogy so much, yet I haven't seen Resurrections. When I started to hear that it wasn't good and only one of the Wachowski sisters wrote it, I wondered if Lana was just a weaker writer/director? And doing it solo lost some sort of magic Lilly charm? I like your opinion on the WB scene, so that's why I'm asking ya! (I'm also an admitted movie dumbass, I know nothing.)
@@sdfE36 Even if they didn’t have a choice, making crap on purpose is disrespectful to the fans, the people who poured their blood, sweat and tears into making the movies, and themselves. They could have spoken out publicly against warner bros as much as they wanted instead of trampling upon their own creation.
@@sdfE36 nah that's what they want you to think, the director lost her magic already since 2012 (Cloud Atlas was their last good movie). Everything after that has been mediocre or downright awful. Flopping the Matrix was the nail in her own coffin not the one of WB
Mars needs moms is one of my favorite movies, Gibbles backstory, along with the ending with his mom, brings me to actual tears. They did an amazing job at expressing how you should love and appreciate what you have before its gone, I still love this movie.
Even as a 7 year old I realized that the whole movie is a message that reads „your loved ones could die at any moment, so appreciate the time you have with them“. This movie fucked me up for months after I watched it. Even though it‘s been so long since I‘ve seen it, I can still vividly remember how scared I felt when the main characters mom is nearly vaporized.
I remember seeing the Fantastic 4 reboot in cinema with my older sister and being so hyped for it until the moment in the movie where they got drunk and decided to go on the teleporter ship thingie. That's when I realized that we were watching a bad movie.
The only positive I'll give Tom Cruise's The Mummy, is that Wayforward, the company behind Shantae, made a really solid tie-in game called, The Mummy: Demastered, a Metroidvania horror game, where, instead of playing as Tom Cruise, you play as an unnamed soldier, working for the old dude from the movie, sent to neutralize the Mummy Princess from the movie. Due to a restriction in his contract, the game could not use Tom Cruise's likeness, so his character had been completely written out.

Titan A.E. wasn't bad - it's the least known part of the underappreciated 2D movie trifecta together with Atlantis and Treasure Planet. All absolute master pieces of animation.
I gave the Titan A.E. a watch cause the animation style gave me Treasure Planet and Atlantis vibes and it honestly wasnt bad but I would rather watch Treasure Planet and Atlantis any day.
I remember I watched Mars needs Mom's when I was little and coincidentally my mother was out of town. During the end emotional part I got upset and had to get reassured by my dad that my mother was, in fact, coming home and not abducted by Martians
For the sake of future prosperity I am obligated to say that The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is a truly underappreciated movie from Terry Gillium who directed and co-wrote it and plot wise is a mix of Don Quixote and Lucien of Samosata's A True Story.
Bro I remember Mars Needs Moms vaguely, there’s one scene I just couldn’t get out of my head but proceed to forget the rest of the movie existed and even the name, so I only had the one scene that stuck with me. It’s felt like a fever dream for so many years, now that it’s jogged my memory, I actually remember really enjoying the movie as a kid.

I'd take Treasure Planet over Mars Needs Mom any day. The humans felt like Chernobyl survivors due to their uncanny appearance, and the Martians are absolutely gross to look at. The animation of the former is beautiful and Jim alongside John Silver had amazing chemistry, the other characters are likable per se but my god isn't that film so underrated in the same level as Atlantis The Lost Empire! I'm really sad that Titan AE failed because it's such a cool animated sci-fi film for teen to adult audiences, Final Fantasy The Spirits Within on the other hand? Nearly killed Square, and I'd always prefer Final Fantasy VII Advent Children as the definitive FF movie. Also, the original voice of Milo(by his mocap actor, Seth Green)was accidentally found when a UA-camr reviewing the film finished up splicing, extracting, and compressing the audio to his thoughts on Mars Needs Moms. He eventually uploaded the audio on a SoundCloud-esque site after. To end off this comment, Zyzzyx Road went into theaters and only earned $30 box office wise? What an ordeal for a film that's obscure, and didn't have a weird and disturbing site like with South 32 so it'll be discussed about by ScareTheater.
I agree with Atlantis, great movie, imo deserves a live action remake but not by Disney but by actual fans who care about the movie and its details as we all know Disney just wants money
My god, just seeing that Zoom scene brought me back. That was one of like 3 movies that was stashed in the van as kids (yeah we had the one with the little tv) and my family went on road trips a lot. I've probably seen it 70 or 80 times because my brother and sister loved it and each time it was painful, but it holds a special place in my heart none the less. The other options were Doogle and Daddy Day Camp, so there was no winning
Our family trip movie was always Talladega Nights with Will Ferrell. Bet you can’t guess what part of the US I’m from lmaooo 💀Hicks in the sticks ass movie
OMG haha We used to have an oddysey and we even got one of those Dvd booklets because we thought we were gonna be roadtripping so often an collect movies, Nope. We had 1 movie on repeat, it was Shrek 3.
Treasure planet flopped because of the animations, I can't remember specifically but apparently somewhere along the line Disney basically got scared that animation style wouldn't be liked due the fact 2d animations were going out style, so executives at studio decided to not fully invest their reasources in the movie.
God looking through those old trailers, made me realize just how much I love 2000s and 90s movie commercials. I love their style, it’s very unique and different from what we see today, and I love it! But maybe I’m biased, cause I grew up in the 2000s and would see trailers like this all the time on the bonus features to my dvds. Man, those were the good days
I loved watching trailers for other movies in my DVDs. The bonus features, behind the scenes, commentary, music, and sometimes even mini games gave me great joy as a kid. DVDs only held one film (or 2! Or 3!) but they did everything they could to make the film more than just a consumable.
King Arthur: Legend of The Sword is unironically one of my favorite movies of all time. It's actually a good movie in my opinion. Great scenes, funny dialogue, amazing OST. Can't go wrong with Guy Richie.
5:51 So Turning Red was SUPPOSED to be in theaters, while I worked at the local theater, there were talks of us getting the movie. We had posters of it up and everything but it was kinda like a last minute decision from Disney to pull it from theaters and turn it into a straight to Disney+ movie.
I saw Mars Needs Moms when it was new, I must've been around 9-11 at the time and the only thing I can remember is that the movie made me feel incredibly sad and anxious, the plot literally flies over childrens heads. Doesn't shock me that it was a flop.
Mars needs moms was surprisingly a great movie, the best character is gribble His acting, back- story and emotions are amazing, wish the movie could get the recognition it deserved
every time i see it mentioned, it's always in a negative light. people talk about it the same way you would an illumination movie, with the same animation like the polar express and probably a chrismas carol
"The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" is actually a really enjoyable film directed by Terry Gilliam, features a lot of the Monty Python cast, and features quite a lot of cool visuals. I actually recommend checking it out. It was recommended to me by the chef at a restaurant I used to work at.
Baron Münchhausen was a real life German noble from the 1700s. The folk tale about him is that he spun a lot of incredible and unbelievable lies (probably the most famous one is him riding a flying cannonball). Those have been collected in various volumes and also filmed multiple times. It's a fun children story even today. The movie by TG absolutely rocks afair.
Some of the greatest movies of all time were originally flops like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” were both films that never got their fame until they began airing on T.V.
im so happy to see someone talk about monkeybone, its one of my favorite movies and i thought it was a fever dream for so long because no one knew what i was talking about whenever I'd mention it
Adventures of Baron Munchausen is actually an amazing film by Terry Gilliam. Sadly, a lot of this list is some good movies that people just didn't feel like getting up to see in theaters. 13th Warrior is one of those movies where pretty much everyone who's seen it enjoyed it, but it's hard to get people to watch it.
Just one look at the first 13th Warrior trailer (when it was still called Eaters of the Dead) and you can tell that movie got screwed hard by the studio. It still ended up being a passable movie but damn, I'd pay a ton of money to see the version the director and crew first envisioned.
Breaks my heart that Treasure Planet is on this list. I was in primary school when it came out and I absolutely loved it. I even remember having it on audio cassette. Thanks for reminding me of this masterpiece, it still makes me cry at 25.
Oh my god. Titan AE is a movie I tried to remember for almost 20 years now. We had it at home, and I saw it as a 5 years old kid when my sister thought it was Treasure Planet that I really liked back then. This gave me nightmares for like two weeks straight. I was so afraid of aliens because of this I just couldn't sleep. I remember it until now, how the water became frozen ice in space... I can't believe that this actually exists. Every time I brought it up, my sister claimed that this never happened and that we never saw the movie together. Thank you Charlie, you're helping me deal with my childhood.
6:45 Titan AE is one of my favorite movies of all time. Watched at least once a week all through elementary school. It had this cool blend of animation and cg that blew my 7 year old mind. Still holds up pretty well in my opinion
I watched Titan A.E. countless times as a kid, I loved it. Even though growing up I could tell the CGI was terrible but it fitted the evil aliens fine since they were supposed to be made out of some sort of solid electricity. I rewatched it a few months ago and it was still good.
Absolutely! The CGI aged badly, but its a 2000 movie and it didnt have Lord of the rings budget, so its understandable. I still think the animation is awesome, I love Don Bluth's style. Also the worldbuilding of the movie was super interesting.
Funny enough, I remember some how getting the chance to go to the premiere party of Mars Needs Moms when I was like 13-14 I remember seeing Zendaya and Bella Thorne in a white dress as we all crossed the street to the red carpet as well as the kid who played Gabe from Good Luck Charlie at the after party.
That Final Fantasy movie had a big hype back in the day. It was the first main stream animation film to try to create realistic humans. It was all around the news back then. I'm shocked Charles hasn't even heard about it lol.
Glad that someone finally noticed that Turning Red was a flop WHILE also mentioning that it went straight to Disney+. Seems that others mention that it flopped only to justify calling it a bad movie without regarding the fact it went only straight to streaming in most countries.
the thing that gets me is that turning red was the most streamed film not just on disney+ but across all streaming platforms for like 2 weeks and is really highly rated by critics.
I feel like the term is used to widely when it comes to movies. Did it not perform as well as other Disney movies in the same year, nope but it was the same quality and not a bad Disney movie
Titan A.E is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Animation was so cool, soundtrack was great, and the characters were interesting. Kicked off my space obsession so hard
It's crazy how I explained it to someone as a Sci-fi horror where aliens abduct mothers, and they instantly remembered the name (I was asking them what the name was). I find it funny how we both just accepted that it was a horror movie, because of how it traumatised us when we was children.
im surpised it flopped so bad since i watched it, back then as a child my parents never had the money so its a shock this is one of the ones they took me to in retrospect
Finally someone said it. Daniel Pemberton knocked it out of the park. Jackseye's Tale, Run Londinium, The Devil And The Huntsman gets your heart pounding and delivers such an energetic beat. Man I love that movie. It wasn't phenomenal or anything but I had a fun time watching it and that's all it is, a fun and enjoyable movie.
Titan A.E. is awesome. I saw it in theatres when I was like 17 and just kept thinking how the early CGI and animation worked so well together. Not to mention it's Sci-Fi post apocalyptic theme and story were dope. Treasure Planet is way underrated.
i bought titan a.e. from the local gas station for $5 when I was a kid. I watched that movie like once a month for like 3 years. defiantly going to re watch it now

Titan:AE is unironically one of my favorite movies ever. It's probably considered a flop because of who's in it vs how much it made (it was never a widespread success) it featured Matt Damon, Drew Barrymore, and Bill Pullman as the main characters and in my opinion had a good story, and an excellent soundtrack, but some of the cgi visuals are admittedly not great. Easily my favorite animated movie, and one of my favorite movies period.
Never saw anything about Titan A.E. before but as soon as I saw the animation in this video I instantly knew Bluth was involved. His animation style is very distinctive. Assuming the writing is OK it should be a good movie, I know the animation has to be top notch stuff.
Him never seeing Titan A.E. or Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within just blows my mind. Because I would have confidently guessed otherwise before knowing this lol.
Honestly I feel like stuff like Titan AE was just ahead of it's time for American audiences, stuff like that and Dinosaur's just had really strong content for animation at the time. I remember loving those movies as a kid but also being really depressed after 🤣
@@lilqueso8190 hahah damn I had forgotten about that. I LOVED Titan AE as a kid but yeah always felt like I was watching something much more adult than the usual cartoon.

I remember watching Zoom as a kid. God, this video brings back so many odd memories. Even back then most of the humour was lost on me except the one little kid character. Also I like how a key line in the trailer is *"THEY MAY BE UNDERAGED"*
Titan A E is actually a really good movie. It came out around the same time as Treasure Planet and suffered from the same things it did with its release. Would highly recommend.
When it started off with "What's the best goofy movie of all time" I immediately got hit with a nostalgia grenade and thought "the first one" loved the original Goofy movie as a kid. Then I was promptly informed that was not the kind of goofy movie inquired about.
I forced myself to watch the first 15 minutes of Tom Cruise's 'The Mummy' when looking for something to watch on TV once. So mind-numbingly boring. I don't remember a thing that happened in the film itself, but I do remember thinking that there was no justification for the title to be 'The Mummy'. The focus was absolutely not on the Mummy. I also vaguely remember watching a YT video about it after. Apparently Tom Cruise made so many changes to the script to make everything revolve around his character, and it was supposed to be the first film in like a 'multiverse' of paranormal characters (e.g. Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde). So as far as I can tell, Cruise may have single-handedly destroyed a potential franchise before it even started.
The only good things to come out of the Mummy reboot are the ADR only trailer, the continued existence of DarkUniverse on Twitter, and The Mummy Demastered which was one of the best recent movie tie-in games ever
Y’all know that movie with rdj with all the animals and stuff dolittle or something that was so boring 😭😭 I kept falling asleep so I would go back to see what happen to only fall asleep again 💀
For the Final Fantasy movie, my dad actually watched it and showed it to one of my brothers and I. It was actually very sad because all the main characters except for 1 die in it. Funny thing though, the voice actor of Hades from Disney's Hercules voices a character in it. The twist that the creatures are ghosts and not aliens is just weird.
@@dondog1278If I remember correctly, they are actually humans from another planet and were at war, but a massive asteroid hit or they bombed themselves to extinction. Anyways, their hate was so strong that after their planet blew up, a piece of their planet broke off and floated through space. Their hate was so strong, they became ghosts and consumed everything living. Also the Earth needed to heal because their presence was that bad for the planet.
Adventures of Baron Munchausen is a wild movie and worth the watch - great cast and directed by Terry Gilliam (of Monty Python). 13th Warrior is also an INCREDIBLE film that absolutely needs to be seen at least once by everyone. Seriously one of my favorite action/adventure movies ever made.
INCORRECT! The best "Goofy" Movie was the first with the Powerline Concert. However I did thoroughly enjoy a Goofy Movie 2 as well with the X-Games, both were instant childhood classics!
I have/had (can’t remember right now) the VHS of An Extreme Goofy Movie with the cut scene still on it, where Brick gets launched into the giant ‘X’ by Brad and it catches fire because of the rockets, Goofy and Max went to rescue him. It was cut because of 9/11, but dozens of re-uploads of the cut scene exist. Subsequent releases of the movie (and on D+) the scene has not been re-added, AFAIK.
Titan A E was a masterpiece and one of the best parts of my childhood. It flopped because it was a unique project for the animation studio and they had no idea how to market it, quite a shame really.

Especially since Clements and Musker dreamed of making the project for years and the project was finally greenlit on the condition that they had to make: The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules.
Treasure planet is one of the goat animated movies of all time.
treasure planet was probably my favorite movie as a kid. i really related to the main character, my dad wasn’t home much and i just did my own thing while my mom worked her ass off to help me while my dad was busy working. i always dreamed of going on some big adventure away from the small town i was stuck in. i watched that movie probably a million times when i was a kid, good memories.

Treasure planet was my favourite movie as a kid too, I couldn’t remember why until I watched it as an adult and I cried so hard lmao
Treasure Planet and Titan AE are both movies that flew under people's radar.
Also... CAN YOU TAKE ME HIGHER?!
Yeah, Miyazaki actually bothered to animate his movies.
I remember reading that Disney purposely gave it no advertising, which was a big factor
Treasure Planet flopping can be contributed to it coming around the same time as Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Wasn't Treasure Planet up against Chamber of Secrets in the box office? I remember hearing it had super stiff competition
The piss poor direction with marketing was the biggest factor for why Treasure Planet bombed
Treasure Planet is one of the main reasons I became a pilot. I have seen the movie so many times and every time I watch it now, all I can rememeber is the feeling of going to a faraway place, discovering new things and realizing that I accomplished my dreams I had when I watched that movie as a kid.
Congrats on accomplishing that dream! Now ya gotta aim to be a Space Pirate.

Didn't actually watch it until recently when my wife suggested it and I liked it a lot. Definitely a movie I would've loved as a kid.
Good job! We’re happy for you.
Does it feel the same landing at LAX as it does to discover treasure planet?
Treasure Planet was absolutely heartbreaking, I love that film and actually got a tattoo from it on my arm in May. It's such a lovely movie that doesn't rely on cheap relationships, and it can be really relatable for a lot of kids/adults.
Would you mind me asking what your tattoo was from the movie? I also adored the film when I was younger.

Don Bluth films always had that special charm and weren’t afraid of exploring some pretty dark themes for kids movies.
ngl, I feel like Titan AE has the same "issues" with it that Sindbad (2003) does where it wants to tell this grand tale but is stuffed full of stuff and has poor pacing. Like, they're nostalgic as hell for me; but seeing them again as an adult definitely knocked them down a peg in my mind.

Titan AE,Treasure Planet and Atlantis the Lost empire are literally three of the most underrated animated movies ever. I will gladly die on that hill.

It’s the holy trinity of lost masterpiece animated films
Yeah, the weird animated sci-fi trinity.
The 2000’s middle parted hair trilogy
Didnt treasure plant and atlantis get games too, pretty sure atlantis got a sequel as well
Fun fact: The Final Fantasy movie only had one character with long hair because the animators found it so painstaking to animate at that point in technological progression.
The DVD extras on Spirits Within contributed significantly to me pursuing a career in 3D. The movie holds up.
I saw that in movies when it was released. I had some experience of 3D modelling and stuff, so I had to go. It was amazing!
They spent a really good portion of their budget on her hair alone. That breakthrough lead to better animation
Fun Fact: My 3rd grade class was the first test screening of Mars Needs Moms
I am partially at fault for them releasing this movie cause I loved it
Same thing happened in with Red XIII in the other movie they released.

Turning Red being a flop makes sense when you take into consideration that Disney released it as another Straight to Disney+ film. it's like Disney actively wants to prevent Pixar from succeeding.

some times just because a movie floped dont mean its bad, just like just because a movie break records is good, look at fast and furious for example, each new movie break the record of the last and they are worst each year
Dude i remember i was so hyped to watch, and i fucking slept half of the movie on cinema.
Unbelievable
"Treasure Planet failed because audiences didn't want 2D animation" Treasure Planet failed because it ran at almost no cinemas & had little if any advertising. There's not a kid I knew growing up who didn't love it but the studio seemed to hate it
So disingenuous to say it was 2D animation's fault too. It's hard to find 2D animated movies nowadays that are actually bad since all of them have stupidly high expectations to work towards.
I'll still watch it if I catch it on somewhere anywhere
A 2D movie in the theaters again!"
We all love 2D now because we're sick of 3D and CGI, plus the Anime Invasion has fully taken over. We all enjoy 2D animation in some form now.
And that it was on in cinemas at the same time as a lot of other popular movies of the time, like Harry Potter and LotR.
'What the hell is Treasure Planet?'
Titan AE was such a good movie man... why it's flopped :(
Titan A.E. is one of the most underrated animated films ever. It's really in the same vein as Treasure Planet in terms of vibe, visual style, mixing 2-d and 3-d animation, flopping super hard at the box office, and having dedicated followings who consider them severely slept-on.

Disney movies like Atlantis, Treasure Planet and John Carter are so underrated that they did not deserve to flop and the reason why they did was because Disney didn’t have much faith in them, saw them as a distraction and wanted to move to the next big thing that’s popular like CG animation or Star Wars.
lol Disney didn't own Star Wars when any of those 3 films came out
I liked all 3 movies. I thought John Carter was really good and had an original concept.

It was a great movie. The animations just blew me away back in the days.
it was good enough that my mom asked me about final fantasy after seeing it, so I figured it must have been at least decent
Spirits Within was doomed to fail because it was a science fiction movie and had nothing even moderately related to Final Fantasy anywhere in the film. Audiences were completely baffled.

WB has made a lot of bad decisions regarding their films. Hopefully with this Warner Discovery they can fix shit.

Baron Münchhausen was a real life German noble from the 1700s. yeah there's a lot of good movies that flopped, Iron Giant, The Shining, and even Shawshank Redemption
@@r0bst3rV iron giant 😭
Another example of a masterpiece of cinema originally being a box office bomb is Walt Disney's Pinocchio
im so happy to see someone talk about monkeybone, its one of my favorite movies and i thought it was a fever dream for so long because no one knew what i was talking about whenever I'd mention it
Adventures of Baron Munchausen is actually an amazing film by Terry Gilliam.
Sadly, a lot of this list is some good movies that people just didn't feel like getting up to see in theaters. 13th Warrior is one of those movies where pretty much everyone who's seen it enjoyed it, but it's hard to get people to watch it.
yeah its really sad seeing some of these films here when they are actually so good!
People forget that movies like the shawshank redemption were box office flops.
Just one look at the first 13th Warrior trailer (when it was still called Eaters of the Dead) and you can tell that movie got screwed hard by the studio. It still ended up being a passable movie but damn, I'd pay a ton of money to see the version the director and crew first envisioned.
Flat out love 13th Warrior. Deserves more recognition and a director's cut.
First Uma Thurman movie. She plays Venus, the GODDESS of love. She fits the role perfectly.
Breaks my heart that Treasure Planet is on this list. I was in primary school when it came out and I absolutely loved it. I even remember having it on audio cassette. Thanks for reminding me of this masterpiece, it still makes me cry at 25.
Right?! It’s such an amazing film, that and titan ae. Both are masterpieces
What i dont get is i remeber merch from it being popular when i was a kid so that mAkes it even morr surprising
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is a cult classic. Robin Williams, Eric Idle, John Neville, Uma Thurman, incredible.

When they asked whats the best goofy movie of all time i immediately thought of A Goofy Movie lol
6:45 Titan AE is one of my favorite movies of all time. Watched at least once a week all through elementary school. It had this cool blend of animation and cg that blew my 7 year old mind. Still holds up pretty well in my opinion
@Jamie Last it’s old do u expect god tier animation some unfotable shit?💀
I watched Titan A.E. countless times as a kid, I loved it. Even though growing up I could tell the CGI was terrible but it fitted the evil aliens fine since they were supposed to be made out of some sort of solid electricity. I rewatched it a few months ago and it was still good.
Absolutely! The CGI aged badly, but its a 2000 movie and it didnt have Lord of the rings budget, so its understandable. I still think the animation is awesome, I love Don Bluth's style. Also the worldbuilding of the movie was super interesting.
Funny enough, I remember some how getting the chance to go to the premiere party of Mars Needs Moms when I was like 13-14
I remember seeing Zendaya and Bella Thorne in a white dress as we all crossed the street to the red carpet as well as the kid who played Gabe from Good Luck Charlie at the after party.
That Final Fantasy movie had a big hype back in the day. It was the first main stream animation film to try to create realistic humans. It was all around the news back then. I'm shocked Charles hasn't even heard about it lol.
Right?! It was on toonami, all the game and shonen jumps and on anime DVDs.
Glad that someone finally noticed that Turning Red was a flop WHILE also mentioning that it went straight to Disney+. Seems that others mention that it flopped only to justify calling it a bad movie without regarding the fact it went only straight to streaming in most countries.
I don’t think it would’ve flopped with a theatrical release it was a serviceable movie nothing amazing nothing blatantly awful
the thing that gets me is that turning red was the most streamed film not just on disney+ but across all streaming platforms for like 2 weeks and is really highly rated by critics.
I feel like the term is used to widely when it comes to movies. Did it not perform as well as other Disney movies in the same year, nope but it was the same quality and not a bad Disney movie
Somehow they never got over the "girls have cooties" phase and still feel the need to dunk on little girls' movies as adult men lol
The most realistic bit of Turning Red was where an American girl needs money so she basically starts an Only Fans.
Titan A.E is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Animation was so cool, soundtrack was great, and the characters were interesting. Kicked off my space obsession so hard
Treasure planet flopping is the single most heartbreaking one on here, a sequel definitely wouldn’t have been a bad idea
Mars needs moms is the one movie I remember giving me nightmares as a kid. Watching actual horror movies? Nope. That one? Yep.
The Adventures of Baron Munchausen is also a good movie, the trailer's great too: "A true story, we have the film to prove it."
It's an excellent movie which I quote to this day.
Treasure Planet was the reason I grew up loving space and sci-fi, and it breaks my heart every time I hear about how poorly it did
I know arthur legend of the sword is a "bad movie", but god do I enjoy it. The sound track bangs are the fights are sick.
Treasure Planet and Atlantis were literally two of the most memorable movies I've ever seen
Titan A.E. is awesome. I saw it in theatres when I was like 17 and just kept thinking how the early CGI and animation worked so well together. Not to mention it's Sci-Fi post apocalyptic theme and story were dope. Treasure Planet is way underrated.
Imagine being an actor and finding out you starred in embarrassingly bad movie

I remember loving those movies as a kid but also being really depressed after 🤣
That neck snap changed my whole perspective on life in that movie
Dinosaur sucks so much fucking ass, I hate that movie
@@lilqueso8190 hahah damn I had forgotten about that. I LOVED Titan AE as a kid but yeah always felt like I was watching something much more adult than the usual cartoon.
@@Wulfbaine1 i think it's the same reason stuff like Renn and Stimpy, and Invader Zim went off the air, there just wasn't a market at the time. If adult swim aired them now they'd be chart toppers

I am stunned that Treasure Planet flopped. In my opinion its one of the best animated movies ever made. It's still my favorite Disney movie, by far.
Fax
It was a beautiful movie, Disney were fools for not believing in its potential.
@@Miss__Mystic it really was. There was so much emotion packed in to it.
There's even a Twitter account for the official franchise. They only have a few posts lmao
The only good things to come out of the Mummy reboot are the ADR only trailer, the continued existence of DarkUniverse on Twitter, and The Mummy Demastered which was one of the best recent movie tie-in games ever
Damn 😐

For the Final Fantasy movie, my dad actually watched it and showed it to one of my brothers and I. It was actually very sad because all the main characters except for 1 die in it. Funny thing though, the voice actor of Hades from Disney's Hercules voices a character in it. The twist that the creatures are ghosts and not aliens is just weird.
they are alien ghosts!

Titan AE was a movie I watched on repeat when I was in my early teens I loved that movie with a genuine passion.
