The equipment I used to record this video was just a Washburn acoustic guitar, a thumb pick, and the microphone on my friend's camera which, I admit is not ideal, and if I recorded it again I would use a better microphone.
Nava is a song written and Recorded by American rock n roll band Rival Sons. It was the tenth song their third studio album Head Down, released in 2012. The song is an instrumental, however a second version of the song was released as the final song on the album. This song was called "True" and was much longer than the original 2 minute "Nava" and also featured vocals and lyrics by Jay Buchanan.
Being primarily known as a hard rock n roll band, Nava shows the softer side of Rival Sons, and has a much more "Folk" feel. For me personally, the song reminds me of Led Zeppelin's "Going to California" and "Bron-Yr-Aur" due to it's fingerpicking style, and open tuning.
To play this song properly as shown in the video, you must use what is known as the DADGAD tuning, but with all the strings tuned down half a step further (DbAbDbGbAbDb). This means that the first string is tuned down a full step and a half from E to Db, the second string is tuned down a full step and a half from B to Ab, the third string is tuned down half a step from G to Gb, the fourth string is tuned down half a step from D to Db, the fifth string is tuned down half a step from A to Ab, and finally the sixth string is tuned down a full step and a half from E to Db.
I have received a lot of requests to tab this song, and so I did a while ago and emailed it to people who requested it. It seems to have made it on to various tab websites now but if anyone is struggling to find it, please message me and I'll send you a copy.
