Got a modded Ps vita and modded new 3ds xl ... got both and play them equally for different exclusives. You get all psp games with a modded vita which was huge. You can't go wrong either way
Same here. I love playing them both for different game, I pretty much have modded every console I own honestly

3DS for me because it had great exclusives, especially RPG's, and I emulate on other hardware. Great video
Both the 3DS and Vita are an insane value in 2024. Both of them run a ton of games across a variety of console generations. 3DS runs NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, DS and 3DS games, and among those 3DS games you get some ports of N64, GC, Wii and WiiU games. And the Vita runs PS1, PSP and PS Vita games, many PSP and Vita games being ports from the PS2, PS3, PS4, a long side a bunch of top tier indie titles, not to mention all the community homebrew ports of various PC and Android games. Both are absolute peak!
And now with red viper we can add the virtual boy 😎
Got both from launch and have modded both. I much prefer the 3ds for the game library between 3ds, ds and gba. I like my Vita too but I've played most of the games I want on it so the one I reach for is the 3ds.
My Vita was not cheap. I had to have the 1000 model. It was cheaper than a new 3DS though. I don't want to carry a 2DS around.
Vita has been great to me. Ports are actively being developed too. Both are good choices
I've always dreamed about having psvita when i was a kid, and yet now I'm 32 years old and still wish I could afford to buy one. still too expensive. Maybe I will add it to before I die at old age list.
Got my PSTV modded it and it’s honestly such a great console in terms of utility and mobility. It’s great for being on the move or traveling and play those games you always wanted by whitelisting your PSTV. Got it for $172 from the UK and it’s the easiest thing to mod then again I’ve only modded a PSP Go as well I’m not very technically inclined so that should tell you something
Answer is both! Japanese consoles are much cheaper and while the 3ds is region locked, if you’re going to homebrew it’s very easy to region swap
if your a fan of (j)rpgs and visual novels, the 3ds is the way
Bought my first new 3ds xl yesterday, almost mint secondhand with clear dual ips, the seller recently changed the back case of the top and bottom, crystal case, charger, stylus, i think i just won a 3ds lottery :D

modded both my systems and I can say without the shadow of a doubt its vita. Vita, PSP, PS1 library plus retroarch, and MAME?? Plus no stupid gimmick dual screen with a hinge. 3DS is great for 3DS and DS but for longevity of use I rather have a vita on that deserted island hands down.

DS is overrated trash in my eyes with overrated exclusives. The psp is so capable that it can even emulate DS lol
tf is a retroid pocket? Psp only has one screen, i know you could just swap the screens or smth but its not the same experience.
Nah think about the ports like James Bond, COD, Monster Hunter 3DS, but there’s definitely more bangers on PSP
psp cant emulate ds properly, neither can ps vita
DS and 3DS emulation is trash on any system, not enjoyable

I've got ps2 games running perfectly on it.

Jaguar Emulation hasn't come far on it , neither has N64 but...
3DO emulation works fine too.
Movie players, unlimited apps you can update regularly
DOOM emulation is near perfect for over 200 wads (stress tested personally)
I could seriously go on with more...
I'm just saying all this cus it's not trash, it's very capable for what it is. I don't pay for sht when it comes to that thing.
Not to mention all the fan mods and hacks for various systems you can consistently install.

Other PC ports also like QUAKE 1& 2 , DUKE NUKEM.
It's all a matter of how much more do you NEED and want that would drive you to get a newer system.
Me , personally, I think the Retroidpocket4 looks awesome and I'd even buy one but, do I NEED to? Not really. If I did, my NN2DSXL still wouldn't collect dust. Not for a second.

I have both. The 3d effect on the 3ds xl when playing games, especially bravely defaults opening is amazing.
I prefer 3ds due to English voice acting. PS Vita has alot of Japanese voice acting with English subs, to me it breaks the emersion.
