NW fishing secrets is now one of my new fav fishing youtubers. The personal warmth and honesty with which he presents his youtubes has touched my life in a way that really hits home and close to the heart . The videos are also very educational for an outdoorsman like myself and allow you to learn in a family kind of feeling way . I hope he has some children so there can be more peeps like him in the world rockin' the outdoors . I hope I cross his path someday out there . How about considering a public invite expedition some day so we can all enjoy your fun loving outdoor oriented company on a personal level . Once or twice a year would be really cool . God bless this man and his life . Thanks so much for being on here outdoors bro !!!
Bro I’ve got to the point where I’m rewatching your videos. And this one specifically. For some reason it is by far my favorite one. I’m so thankful I found your channel. And you have some awesome subscribers. The comment section is always clean and respectful and very uplifting. I hope you find major success in being a UA-cam fisherman. Fish on! Bobber down baby!
When my dad was alive a year ago, I had sent him a couple of your videos when he was at work. We loved fishing and we loved backpacking. Putting those two together was even better. Thanks for making such videos. I miss you dad
I haven't been fishing since I was a kid with my dad. Wanted to get back into it now as an adult and found your channel. Thanks for all the info!! Heading out today to go trout fishing here in Washington 🙂
Love the content. With fly fishing, one of the best tips I got when I was starting was keep your rod tip at 11 and 1 with your fore and back casts. Load the tip, or let the weight of your line bend the top of the rod on your back cast and you’ll have a must easier time getting a good line presentation.
i've been searching this type of videos very long time! And im so happy i found it! I like this hiking, catch fish and cook, also camping with tent. Thank You!
I follow a lot of anglers and I just recently stumbled upon this hidden gem of a content creator. You make me feel like im with ya! Thank you for educating and bringing a positive attitude with every vid🤙🎯

I have been hesitate to fish since I’m so new, and I know how serious people are out there. I Don’t want to make any serious mistakes. But after watching your vids I feel more confident and I’m gonna try!! Thank you!! See ya out there!!
Thank you, your comment really meant a lot to me. Not just that you enjoy the videos, but that they make fishing more approachable to new fishermen & ladies. You're right, there are a lot of serious people out there, especially during Salmon season, but there are also lots of friendly helpful folk out there who will gladly show you how to fish :) I still learn something every time I go out 👍 🎣

When fly fishing it’s important to take your time on your backcast, reach your arm back farther and hesitate before you bring your arm back forward. When bringing your arm forward you are going to want to point at the destination you want your fly to go to and follow through to that point. Love your videos! Ps. Love seeing you catch that little rainbow on the fly. Very few things I love than hearing that sound of a fly line getting ripped off the water surface and coming tight!
Right at the end of every cast of most casts when fly fishing to release the remaining line you have that's off the reel as you complete the last cast flick the rod a bit harder abd let the line run through your hand

So when you’re out like this, do you turn your boots upside down to avoid moisture from the dew point getting inside? My dad taught me that when I was a kid. Also, on glaciers do not eat the ice, there’s a fungus that grows on it. When you walk across it the ice will turn orangy red
Michael Holthaus thanks for the tips bro, I’ll keep it in mind if I ever go to a glacier. Nothing wrong with sharing knowledge that’s passed down from your Father. I learned a lot from mine
Just came across your channel and the contents you have and the effort you seem to have put is fascinating. Love from Nepal PS: I subscribed your channel instantly

Thank you for listening to my recommendation to try fly fishing. You seem to be doing great with the fly rod. Its actually more rewarding than with a spinning outfit. I can never go back to spinning myself. Happy fishing!
i don't like fishing, and i dont eat fish, but this video is too good, your positive vibes and how happy you are after catching those fish makes me feel the thrill
When flyfishing, the reason you are getting that curled up line in the water is because you move your rod/line too fast. WHen i fly fish i always think in the back of my head that the time the line uses to make the "loop" backwards should be the same as forwards. and also watch your line so it makes that loop both ways. If you are doing everything correctly, try using different leaders (use leaders the same length as your rod atleast). Just keep your movements balanced, for example: dont wait for 1 second while your line flies backwards and then wait 3 seconds when it flies forwards. If this made any sense, i hope it helps :)
Agree. That's what I noticed as well. Simple terms, your forward is faster than your backward. Let the rod do the work. Another tip to keep from catching behind you again, when I first find a spot I "false cast" while looking behind me. Keep letting line out until you find your length limit (and your best angle). Now you can fish freely looking forward and know your good. Hope this helps

Yessir. I learned with my Dad and I struggled with letting the fly come all the way back before bringing it forward.
Yes, and also you want a stiffer wrist, very important, create power from the elbow movement of 10 to 2 position like on a clock.
