    This is what i'm looking for. Cooking what you catch is for me the best respect you can offer to nature. Im not fan of pure sport fishing. You sir and robert of deermeat for dinner is the best outdoor youtuber. Hope you get a million of subscribers!

      Thank you Jordan. Those are very kind words, and I fully agree with you. My favorite fishing is just going out, connecting with nature, sustainably harvesting, and eating the catch right then and there... Will be doing more videos like that again soon... To a 1M community one day 🎣

    Hi, just a little advice, since you asked in the video. When I fish for trout, I like to set my drag slightly tighter, and reel slower and less aggressively. I find that all the wiggling caused by super low drag combined with fast reeling tends to loosen the hook, and often results in lost fish, like the one in the very beginning. Love your vids btw!

    • @simba9725
      @simba9725 2 роки тому

      I notice he does not set the hook, he yanks it out of the mouth, and if the hook sets, he cranks as fast as he can, probably ripping the mouth.

    There's a serious reason why I am subscribed to and watch your channel. I have become completely disabled in the last year. I can no longer go fishing. I can't get down to the shoreline, nor get into a boat. It's videos like these that help feed my need for trout fishing. Just the way you get so excited when you land a fish (any fish) brings that thrill back for me. I sincerely appreciate you making and posting these video for us all. I can't wait for the day you have enough subscribers that you can make this your full-time job. You are getting there, I am rooting for you buddy!!!

      I thought about it, but didn't feel it was something I wanted to do. There is a go-fund-me to help contribute to the new GoPro Hero 7 which gave us 4K and hypersmooth video. Besides that, the easiest way people can contribute is just buying their amazon stuff through my affiliate links in the video descriptions! Don't even need to buy what I'm linking to. Amazon pays about 5% on anything people buy when entering their site through my links 😆But the bottom line is that I'm not really worried about making money here. I want to focus on a fun, local fishing channel for you guys, and make good videos. It's hard work, but with the growth we're seeing, I am determined to make it my career at one point! Wow, long answer! I really appreciate you caring...

      @@teekiddreksy How's that?

    • @teekiddreksy
      @teekiddreksy 4 роки тому

      @@thomasw178 everyone likes the idea of catching wild fish and eating it out of respect, but seeing as fishing holes and rivers have become unexpectedly more popular (the population of people old enough to fish has gone up, the whole catch and cook being broadcast, and an influx of people into the fishing community due to the coronavirus) recently, I can't help but connect the dots between seeing the tourist population at local spots explode, the number of fish/quality of water decline and not to mention garbage. I don't think this guy litters. Right on 👍. But holy shit has it become a problem even on the trails to alpine lakes you see on apps like Reddit and tiktok. Not to mention people who hike their paddle boards into warm water lakes or rivers and hike them somewhere else without knowledge of how easily you can contaminate a water body with excellent water quality and turn it into a marsh. Kinda on my soap box, only because this is my favorite hobby and I've seen it happen to various of my favorite spots. I only mean to be informative here.

    Just found your channel... Awesome stuff, man!. You’re about to blow up. Will admit... it broke my heart a little when you swapped that fly reel out for a spinning reel lol

    • @NWFishingSecrets
      @NWFishingSecrets  5 років тому +2

      🤣 It broke my heart as well, fly fishing that lake for hours with no takers. Those were the most spoiled, fat and happy trout I've ever encountered. They could tell a real bug from my flies way too easily. I'm new to fly fishing, but there will be more! Looking forward to feedback from you on how I can improve! 🤣 🎣 Thank you for subscribing and enjoying the videos!

    • @tylermcfall7792

      NW Fishing Secrets it doesn’t seem like that lake gets very much pressure... if you put the right fly on they’ll take it but that’s the hard part, picking the right fly haha. Try midging in that situation. Just drop a tiny zebra midge under a small bobber or throw a woolley bugger/streamer. If I were you in this situation... I would try slow stripping a black leech pattern first since you said they liked bugs. Good luck man! Happy fishing, love the content 🤙🏽

      I agree with offering them a leech pattern. I can’t tell you how many trout I’ve landed using woolybuggers. Black, and olive. You can’t go wrong, try them both, u won’t be disappointed!

    You need to sharpen the hooks, that’s probably why you keep missing the hooks

    • @NWFishingSecrets
      @NWFishingSecrets  4 роки тому +5

      Thanks - so many things led to losing those fish. Hooks were a main factor, as was me not playing them long enough/ having the drag set too tight. Redemption following in the next episode!! 🔥 🎣

    Inspirational videos, on lake mohne in Northwest Germany you can only catch lake trout in the summer at great depths, i.e. at least 20 m. Wonderful water where you fish. And we love the porcini mushrooms here too. Greetings from Germany

    I know this is a year old video but hopefully this will help you. You can buy long shank cricket hooks that should work great for what you are doing. We use them for panfish all the time because with smaller short shank hooks they’d suck the bait right off the hook. With the cricket hooks they suck in the whole hook and cricket at once. Thanks for the great videos.
