Hi Abel, thanks for sharing this tutorial. Since I'm considering the purchase of the 8 voice version I was wondering if a patch like this is doable with 8 voices or that the 16 voice version is mandatory. Thanks.
Very awesome tutorial.. I have always wondered how Rufus Du Sol achieved this kind of synced patch in some of there songs. This has swayed me to get this board in my arsenal for sure!!
Hey, will you be doing any more rev 2 videos sound design? Definitely missing them. Hope to see some back soon thanks. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
@@AbeldeBeerMusic some ideas that I had in mind, maybe even something simple like, how to plugin a pedal to the synth also some creative modulation tricks, harmony tricks. Thanks!
This is such a an amazing tutorial. Ive been watching this one several time now. Will you be doing more sound design rev tutorials? They are very helpful and fun to watch. Thanks for these
Are you sure about the LFO none have a global Sync setting? How are they able to achieve VCO vibrato for example and they do and I do not hear the different keys and chords being struck where the LFO is out of sync? I got a response from tech support. This is what they said. There are two types of LFO in use in our designs: global, and per-voice. Global will affect all voices equally, across all keys played. This essentially means you have one LFO for all voices. Per voice LFO means that each voice has its own LFO, which can result in a richer sound, depending on how it's used. On an instrument like the Rev2, which has 4 LFOs per voice, you can "tame" the modulation by enabling the Key Sync parameter. This forces each LFO to reset its cycle on each key press. You can also use the Clock Sync parameter to synchronize each LFO to MIDI or internal clock.
Hey Abel, your videos are very very Helpful to me. I bought a prophet rev2 a couple of months ago. And im eager to learn. Would you make other tutorial ? How it work? How to understand it? Thanks and take care
Hi Paul, great to hear these videos are helpful! However, I am not planning to make any more at the moment. The 3 tutorials I have cover quite different sounds and techniques, so I hope they give you enough to start experimenting on your own. Otherwise, keep searching for Rev2 videos on UA-cam, there’s plenty of them.
You can actually sync the Lfo,s per voice with a little work around hack : select key sync , go into unison with all voices , press any note , reverse steps 1 and 2 . Tip courtesy of @dominic stocker on the sonic state rev 2 review video
@@AbeldeBeerMusic Did this hack make it stay in sync for you? So this is so unusual to have 4 LFOs and not one of them can be set to global sounds like a software (firmware) fix?
@@imun1ty There is no global setting to get all LFOs in sync, I agree it’s unusual. So to get as close as possible, you have to think about how you trigger the LFOs, and then key sync and unison are the most obvious options.
Hi Abel, thanks for this very good tutorial. As your are confortable with the rev2 would you be able 🙏🙏😚 to recreate on of the best sound i’ve ever heard coming out of a synth it is the prophet 8 played by Hania Rani, first song ( concert at les invalides ) on you tube. Thanks
HEY! He's BACK! :-) But, seriously, when you need to take a college course to learn how to play a synth.... 😛 Also, those buttons will wear out pretty quickly, I'm guessing. 🤔
@@AbeldeBeerMusic And I might even post a music video this month. lol. I'm still praying to God to bring my Sequential Circuits Six-Trak back from the dead. :p Oh, it was SO easy to use. 🙂

Hi Django, I forgot to mention it in the video, but you can absolutely create this patch on the 8-voice model.
@@AbeldeBeerMusic Thanks!
good teaching , sir!!!
thank you

Mega - thanks for taking the time to put this together. Learnt a lot about the Rev2 I didn't know! Cheers

this is awesome! thankyou so much
In Part 3, that oscillating/drifting tone sounds a lot like the tone on "In The Annexe" by Boards of Canada. Sounds really good.
Yeah, BoC love slow pitch modulation, and me too. :)

Good job. I love doing this, although i modulate filter with gated sequencer with slope AND lfos.

That’s a good tip. Although I assume the LFOs will go out of sync again once you press a new note?
Give it a shot. I tried it once and it passed my litmus test where added notes were synced if I recal correctly.
