It makes me so unbelievably happy to see the college football world talk about TXST positively for a change. I graduated in 2018 and sat through the Franchione/Withers/Spavital eras and it was miserable. The student section was always empty after the first quarter and it was clear that the AD Larry Teis and rest of the admin didn’t care about on the field success. They couldn’t even be bothered to give our athletes proper nutrition or treatment for injuries and there was just no effort to get fans/students/alumni invested in the program. I always knew we could be a G5 powerhouse with the right AD and Coach and I think we’re finally heading in that direction. I hope Kinne stays a couple more years so we can really see the potential this program has. Great video, Eat ‘em up, Cats!
I'm an alum and I never understood the aloofness our administration had towards our sports programs. Never made a lick of sense. It was almost a sadness on campus surrounding it.
With Texas being a football state, it was always strange for a school called Texas state to be bad at football. Hopefully this success lasts a long time
Alumni here instant like for the video and I was there during their move to FBS into the WAC and had the opportunity to go to their bowl game this past year!! So proud of them and hope they will have continued success.
As an Lsu fan im a huge fan of TJ Finley who is from Ponchatoula. I remember Ed O blew up on him that not only was TJ done as an Lsu QB, but also that Ed O had lost his way I never saw him do that before.
Eat 'Em Up, Cats! My Freshman year was 2013 and although I never did graduate from TxSt, I've always been more of an NCAA football fan than NFL - it's amazing getting to see an actually competitive Texas State team finally!
Texas State Alumni here. I went to school for most of the Spavital era. Miserable unwatchable football was being played, and I was actually at a lot of those games. I can't tell you how happy I am the team is good now. Thanks for the awesome video
Football coaches have no life.. They get to the facility early in the morning before the sun comes up and get home late at night.. football coach hours are pretty insane..
When I got NCAA 13 and started playing it (about 4yrs ago) i picked the Bobcats since they were one of the worst teams in the game, I have a love for the team now and I use them in NCAA 25 and am in my 3rd season and its going quite well👍
You should talk about college sprint football. It is like regular college football but all players need to be below 178 pounds. It would be a very interesting video.
Hey! Great video! TXST has been on the rise this season and as a UTSA Alum, it excites me for future games! A little fun fact is that G.J. played for Jeff Traylor, UTSA's Head Coach, at Gilmer For his Senior season after the shooting, worked together at SMU (2017) and Arkansas (2018), and together have been making the entire Texas football scene great again. A video idea might be the greatness of the SA football scene in 2022 as it was a spectacular year for UTSA, UIW, and Trinty University Football. Although we beat TXST this year it was anybody's game the whole time! We are currently 5-0 in our rivalry with TXST but I don't know how much longer that will last. You earned my subscription!
I always think any college , new or established , can be pretty successful in Texas. They have everything in place already to succeed.....rabid football loving fans/alumni.....in state talent in droves, many HS having college-level programs..... a competitive desire to be good regardless of cost. It's all there.
What’s crazy is this team as well as New Mexico State (another great story) have got ZERO, literally zero attention from media or anything spoken about them. Instead, we get coverage on a terrible 4-8 Colorado team with a manufactured story.
Fun Fact: The school featured in the 1991 movie Necessary Roughness was the fictional Texas State Armadillos. They call the school Texas State because, at the time, there was no school simply called "Texas State." I always thought that Southwest Texas State missed a golden marketing opportunity when they shortened their name to Texas State by not changing their nickname to the Armadillos, and changing their colors to the green and white of the Necessary Roughness Texas State.
SWT had been playing ball for over 80 years when that movie came out and already had an established mascot and colors. The fictional Texas State in the movie used green and white cause it was the colors of UNT, where the football scenes were filmed.
Best story? Arizona Wildcats. 9-3 this year following a 1-12 season two years ago. I believe, st one point, they had lost 19 in a row daying back to 2020. Fisch and his staff have build a solid program
As someone who moved to the area and called it “San Marcos” it’s apparently “Marcus” not “Marcos”, irrelevant to your video but someone from there will eventually find this video and tell you
Unfortunately for texas state, Kinne will take the job at a bigger school pretty soon. Hopefully it’s a texas school because his offense has been crazy amounts of fun to watch.
Long ago and far away I saw my first VIRGIN BIRTH in San Marcus at the old Hospital, before Crispus. I was working the ER to pick up some extra cash when the ER Nurse called saying there was a patient in the ER. It happened to be Super Bowl Sunday with 5 minutes left in the game, and a close score. I explaine the Super Bowl situation to the Nurse and she said, "don't rush... she just has some mild abdominal pain." When the game was over, I started down the hall to the ER and ran into the ER nurse pushing a women into the Labor and Delivery suite. She informed me that my potential patient was having a baby. The lady said, over and over, "I am not pregnant." "There is no way I am pregnant." "Listen to me! I am NOT PREGNANT!!!!" "I have not had sex!!" My first virgin birth...
With millions of people and thousands of highschools 130+ universities can all field highly talented rosters which makes for a great spectacle year in and year out which is why the regular season and conference championships will always be the point of it. Since the lizard people have taken over everything and Baal worshipers run this country we have lost so many traditions that make us great to begin with including college football. I'll still watch it but these gigantic super conferences with little regional reference are killing what made this sport the best. Playoffs? Man f*#k that noise. There's no such thing as a definitive champion unless it's a round robin season, not a post season which is why it's called post season just like preseason.
Well, since then- Kinne recruited a convicted rapist out of Hawaii to play QB. Finley and the 2nd string QB’s entered the portal and left. The rapist QB lasted a week at TXST before pressure after being exposed by the school’s newspaper. So, entering Spring 2024, TXST had no proven QB. Kinne was bailed out only because the JMU QB transferred to TXST. Again, the TXST coach, AD and administration recruited and attempted to hide a convicted rapists because they thought he was a good QB. TXST will do well and continue to improve, but Kinne is a scummy man.
I've been trying to warn everybody for years Sunbelt is becoming the strongest group of five team, adding in James Madison only helps that, Texas State one like 10 division two titles or some s***.. basically at this point the Sunbelt is like some of the best teams in the region in FCS over the last 30 years, it's like an FCS South All-Star conference.. at this point we just need to add Richmond.
Well I guess I'm wrong, maybe I'm thinking of some other small Texas division 2 team.. I could have sworn I seen something on ESPN about it like 10 years ago.
We used to lose games 64-3 when I was at Texas State
