Great video. I’m from San Antonio and this is just the beginning for Utsa football. San Antonio is the 7 largest city in America and this is OUR pro team. Games are electric. I’m excited to see how much farther the program will grow after this move to the AAC. GO RUNNERS
Florida fan here but I definitely believe that the American Conference is about to be maybe even more competitive despite UCF, Houston, and Cincinnati leaving. From Tulane on the rise out of nowhere, Memphis is always pretty solid, East Carolina looks decent (a little potential they could be on the rise), and the new additions they’ll have with UTSA, UAB, and North Texas that could make immediate impacts in the conference, it’s going to be very interesting with how the conference goes moving forward. I mean they’re already the best Group Of Five conference that only got better. Charlotte, FAU, and Rice might take some time but I would make the argument that even the worst teams in the conference could still be having no fewer than 3 wins a season.
As an Oregon fan I just want to thank the Roadrunners in advance for Will Stein. My gut tells me he's only gonna double down on the success Dillingham brought us at OC last year. Hell, he already locked in Austin Novosad for us and the dude had barely unpacked his bags!
My cousin is one of the assistant coaches on the UTSA staff. The last two years have been awesome. Attended several games, and I'm looking forward to going this season. Definitely a team on the rise!
This is my first semester at UTSA, and in some of my classes I’ve met dudes that just transferred here from other schools thanks to the portal, im hyped for this upcoming season as I think the team is going to be a sleeper.
Just found your channel. I really enjoy your commentary. Im a writer for a sports website and im always looking for unbiased takes on things, with a logical approach. You are fantastic. Keep going, brother.
I want UTSA to keep an eye on QB Malik Murphy 6-5 230 Texas. The reason is we already have two high profiled QB's in Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Not much playing time for Murphy. Just my personal opinion 🤘
Some of us longtime CFB observers have pointed to this program as being something to watch. My moment of conversion came when Arizona State narrowly escaped SA with a win. I predicted a Power 5 win for the following year, and the Roadrunners proceeded to deliver. Look at 'em now; great story similar to the rise of Boise State in the aughts. Lots of good decisions behind this phenomenon. Keep it going, UTSA. You are what is right about the sport. I'd like to see how the 'Runners would fare at the Big House, in the near future.
5:35 wait this is wrong. We down get a bowl game in 2016. It was New Mexico in Albuquerque. It was a defining moment for us. Literally wearing the jacket.
If the Pac12 adds a pod in the southwest including SMU, Rice, Tulane, UTSA would be the best choice. R1 research university and good football. That would make 6 or 8 schools in the Pac12, depending on what Stanford and Cal decide to do. Then the Pac12 adds Mt West schools to get to 12, 14 or 16 teams.
@@brianvillatoro6588 It is easy to think that, but as long as there is a Pac, there are also contracts tied to them. The current Pac 4 and what I shall call the LaTX 4 that are mentioned above would be a solid conference with the addition of the best MW teams. Certainly SDSU and UNLV for their markets, and CSU & AFA to round out the dozen would be a very viable conference on a par with ACC football (less Clemson and FSU, obviously). The Pac thus has a very finite window to figure all of this out, but they have probably hired the best guy to help get it done. Kliavkoff is toast. Luck is the de facto CEO of the Pac, for now.
As a season ti key holder since 2014, saying “turn around” is funny. No diss or anything but I remember saying to my extended family (Baylor fans, me as well, but when UTSA came around they became the #1) in 2015/16 they are something special. People forget the powerhouseLA tech, used to be up until 2017. UTSA played with so many goood teams early on and hung in. They should have beat ASU. It wasn’t a turn around, traylor boosted our momentum.
@@ReisterJP it's just trash points right now. Not worried. I mean the schedules were made when the team wasn’t as good, but yeah the no ranked wins is something that still needs to be overcome. I know bowls don’t matter that much, but it still is disappointing to have only ever lost them
@@ReisterJP yeah weak opponents like A&M, Texas, Baylor, Illinois, and Tennessee next year. Fact UTSA can go toe to toe with P5 schools on their earliest years is impressive...coming out with wins too!

A big part to UNT beating UTSA when undefeated was due to it raining and limiting UTSA passing attack.

If UTSA had started their program 10 years earlier they might have gotten into the big 12 with or over houston. A really good program.
