Do you know what really irritates me most about this accident? The EXACT same thing happened in Kozhikode 10 years later. Literally, everything was the same except the location. Unstable approach coming into a tabletop runway, the captain having tunnel vision and fixation error, the first officer pleading for a go-around, the captain being an arsehole and refusing to comply, it's just so sad. About 200 lives were lost in 2 accidents because of ego! Until the culture of 'I am older and more experienced than you! Who are you to tell me what to do? Do whatever I say. Don't question me' attitude changes, this is just gonna keep happening, regardless of how many safe-keeping measures are implemented!
My ticket was booked for this flight but my mother postponed it last moment to another day. I feel like god has given me a second chance at life. I pray for the departed souls.

I can only feel bad for the poor passengers. Nobody else. The company didn't follow common sense when putting a captain who's still adjusting to a new time zone, to work during circadian low. The captain was as irresponsible as it gets, literally sleeping while in charge of 166 lives. The FO's passive behavior next to an incapacitated captain was just as irresponsible-"I cannot legally land here, so... guess I'll time to die then!" doesn't click to me. My second cousin died in this crash. He was all of 16, a brilliant student and his parents were excited to see him go to college and begin his professional life. While pilot negligence is undeniable here, it seems a series of elements came together to create the conditions for a perfect storm ("Swiss Cheese" accident theory), from the last minute scheduling change to lack of fitness scrutiny prior to flying to the pilot falling asleep for most of the flight to the lack of approach planning to the rules that prevented the First Officer from taking control (though I wonder why he didn't take control anyway seeing as the pilot was behaving recklessly but there may be cultural issues at play here too especially the tendency within Indian culture to follow hierarchy and to not criticize). stumbled on this cchannel for the first time and my god my heart was beating the whole time, the narration and just the whole video,, heartbreaking that this is a real story may they rest in peace , sending lots of strength to the victims' families
Actually probably close to half of runways are built on kind of table top or hill top. Because this is where the predictable headwinds are and its easier to take off and land into a headwind. There almost always a pretty steep drop off or even a cliff on the windward side of the hill. That's just the geography of this planet. Also, it's more safe to land and takeoff on the highest point of land around you so there isn't any higher point to crash into.
@@russ549 i understand but the problem is during emergency, now what if the plane brakes fail, in a plain land airport, the plain can just go past the runway and come to a complete stop after sometime, whereas if the plane is trying to land in the hilly airport with a brake failure, then the plane might have a chance to fall off. Survival this type of situation is only like 10% but in the plain land airport, the survival chance when the plane has brake failure can be around 80-90%
@Pragadeeshwaran.S @Pragadeeshwaran.S @Pragadeeshwaran.S yea, I agree they should all have a runway overrun area that's relatively straight and flat with gravel or something too slow the plane down...thing is if this were mandatory alot of city’s that have airports now wouldn't have airport's. Because so many cities are in mountains area's where there simply isn't a flat area of several miles with no clifs or hills near it. The real dangerous ones are the ones on island's where there are several hundred foot cliffs above the sea at the end of a short runway!
If a geography is restricted and there's a demand for an airport a table top runway is the solution. Hence there are multiple more restrictions when flying into such airports. You cannot just sent access to airports because of the lack of flat land
This flight accident is a painful reminder of life’s fragility. My deepest sympathies to all affected. Praying for peace, healing, and a safer future for everyone.
I’m from mangalore and my mom still tells me that at night people can hear screaming and crying from were the plane had crashed and people residing near to the plane crash site had to leave the place bec they could hear all those screaming and the crying of people it’s very sad tragedy 😢😢😢

Narayan Murthy who wants people to work for 70 hours per week with no rest should have been in that flight. He would have realized his mistake and publicly apologized. My house is on the next hill here. This airport is insane. They should have built the airport near the sea on a flatter surface. Landing during monsoons is not for the weak hearted.
Very true! Recently when we were landing in mangalore during the monsoon the entire plan was shaking so much due to turbulence and the visibility was none, the pilot took us back to Bangalore. So pretty much Mumbai- mangalore- Bangalore- mangalore, I was glad he did it since we owe our life to him.

I am a native of Manipal, so we fly in and out of only Mangalore airport. Your description of the challenges are very accurate and every flight taken here calls for a prayer even for the atheist. This disaster was unbelievable for us.. and unfortunately, not much has been done in the aftermath to improve the situation.
As a watcher of aviation stories, I imagine all sorts of upgrades for the format. The animated people might be left entirely out. This would increase the drama you seek and be novel. Often those depicted perish so why feature them. If an AI try a softer, bland, maybe female, with a wisp of mystery. Very real. The current voice is a great live sports or Olympic event warm-up voice.
The video was gripping and well made, some scope of improvement is that width of runway was mentioned as in meters which I presume should had been in feet, and spelling of Boeing was incorrectly mentioned as Boieng, other than that everything was great...👍

Haha.. Good example of plan continuation bias from my end. I must have seen that specific shot atleast 200 times by now, but I didn't pick it up. I guess we are always blind to our own mistakes! :)
Why these kinds of events take place in South India. They should focus on improving their infrastructure rather than arguing with North Indians who are way ahead of them and don’t care about South Indians
Kind of an insensitive thing to bring up on such a serious document. The north vs south topic is irrelevant in this. Yes the south should improve but just as much as the south have a lot things to improve the north has it too. You are saying as if the north doesn't have their own issues they neglected which resulted in casualties. North or south, India is India as whole.
😂😂😂😂 one of the stupidest comment 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 what a nice way to compare north and south indian issues..... Atleast we don't fight in the name of religion also for beef eating.... North Indians are so stupid they think who ever eats beef are muslims ...so where are Christians.... Do they don't eat beef??? What a comparison

Perfectly edited. Slight minor mistakes, I'll leave that they don't bother me. Rest is banger. Good job!
yup.. the runway width
Again you never cease to surprise us with superb narrative and graphics... waiting for the Air france 447 story..
Thank you so much bro! :)
My dad's cousin led the forensic team that had the harrowing job of helping identify all the bodies. I still remember him sharing the difficult experience and seeing a picture of him walking in the newspaper to the crash site.
After hearing this news on morning we were shocked feel sorry for her...
Thank you for this detailed video.
I am from Mangalore and I still remember that horrific day. All over Mangalore we were hearing ambulance syrun n came to know something went wrong at airport. I can never forget that day. Hope all who lost life are resting in peace
All because of that captain's ego
True..... seems he is more stubborn
Wyngx is back with his gripping documentary to fill up this weekend🔥
Thank you so much! :)
This brings back memories of NatGeo Aircrash investigation. I grew up watching that. And you seriously need to update more frequently quicker. This is a gem channel
Thanks Priyanka! :)
Hi wyngx. Loved the video as usual. But i do have one suggestion. Earlier videos on your channel were much more technical and contained detailed explanations. Videos right now are very fun to watch as well but feel like movies instead.Personally I liked the older format more.
Just a suggestion
Thanks 😊
Hey mate.. Thank you so much. Point taken. I'll start bringing back the tech explanations. I tried doing that here with the DME Arc, but I suppose I could have gone a lot deeper into the explanation. :)
Easy Peasy lemon squeezy was good one ..
Perfectly explained, Love your videos ❤
Thank you so much, Anish :)
Everytime I click onto one of your videos I’m always blown away by the way you explain things, even when explaining complex things you are able to relay them to us in such a simple manner and I’m never left confused. Hats off to you these videos must take lots of time and effort. I will always be watching
Wow how breath taking it was ...not only a plane crash ..a lesson to learn .. About decision making...
I was just 6 when this crash happened, but I still remember the intense sorrow, on that day. Literally everyone in Mangalore and surrounding areas lost their loved ones, either family, friends, neighbours.
How can literally everyone in Mangalore lose their loved ones in one single fight?
All The other documentary is boring and long, but this channel is insane, here he does it short but it's enough to understand
Thank you so much! :)
Never ever seen an aviation video with such phenomenal quality and brilliant storytelling.
Keep it up!
Thanks a ton!
True -- The explanation is brilliant and it is technical at the same time common man could understand .. Brilliantly explained
stumbled on this cchannel for the first time and my god my heart was beating the whole time, the narration and just the whole video,, heartbreaking that this is a real story may they rest in peace , sending lots of strength to the victims' families
Finally, another video to start my Sunday morning. Thanks Wyngx.
Welcome mate! :)
Runways like this should not exist, a cliff at the end of the runway is very dangerous, they should build airports in only plain land
exactly this. why jeopardize the safety of every landing plane when you can build the runway on flat land?
Every time I land at Mangalore Airport these tragic memories flood my thoughts. Prayers for the departed ones.
Yes....same here...evrytime the flight lands......that incident flash back😢....
@ We Mangaloreans can never forget that tragedy and shock, no matter how many years pass by.
This flight accident is a painful reminder of life’s fragility. My deepest sympathies to all affected. Praying for peace, healing, and a safer future for everyone.
Well explained. RIP to all those souls. And to the 8 that survived- you’ve a gift from God. To all the families May strength be with you
I had requested and mailed about this video too just like others.Thank you so much approving our requests.
Thank you for your patience. I'm glad you appreciate the video!
I’m from mangalore and my mom still tells me that at night people can hear screaming and crying from were the plane had crashed and people residing near to the plane crash site had to leave the place bec they could hear all those screaming and the crying of people it’s very sad tragedy 😢😢😢
The graphics are the best on UA-cam.
Thank you so much! :)
Hooked through the entire video and learned so much. Great work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video was incredibly immersive! I was genuinely surprised when I checked the timestamp-I could have sworn it was only 10 minutes long. The narration, dialects, and visuals were all masterfully crafted and seamlessly woven together, creating an exceptionally engaging experience. Kudos to everyone involved!
Bad management and irresponsibility of multiple officers had caused this catastrophic event.
The goat 🐐 of all aviation channels is back with new video
Can't believe you finally did it! You finally master the Algorithm with your Top-Notch editing and narration skills! 🎉❤
Thanks! 😃
I requested this video too. I was with my dad going to work towards Bajpe. Now that I work in Dubai eveytime I land in Mangalore, that picture comes to my mind. The old Airport was better IDK.
This single video made me to subscribe and watch other video of urs.Bro u are underrated.
What presentation! Felt like a Hollywood movie! Well done 👍
Baby, wake up wyngx just uploaded another BANGER! documentary.
JUST AMAZING!! This is one the best channel on UA-cam❤❤❤
I have watched all the videos on your channel, looking forward to the - US Airways Flight 1549 incident on January 15, 2009.
This is excellent work, sir. And for some reason, I found the "lemon squeezy" liine in an Indian accent very funny!
hahah! :)
Amazing work ,keep going, and sorry about those who lost their life in this accident
14:45 that feeling when you know the answer because you're watched so many mentor pilot videos 🤣🤣lol
Oh yes!
hahaha.. ! :)
The Quality of your Videos are Phenomenal!
Glad you like them! :)
Last time when u did a video of similar crash of Kerala... We talked about this, I remember you saying it's similar so will come up later... And u did it... Thank you brotha... Love from Bengaluru... And it's Mangaluru😜
Welcome bro.. Hope the wait was worth it! :)
@_WyngX worthy wait♥️... Keep up the good work.... 💪🏾 more strength
Hey @_WyngX .. i am too a mangalorian and i am currently 14 years old ... i with my mother have flow with this Exact flight in 2022 ... at that time i was 12 .. the flight was really bad ... while returning back to dubai ... air india express broke our luagange bag ... thank you from doing this video
hopefully this one will get the publicity it deserves
I am waiting past 14 years to know what actually happened. Now it crystal clear episode on this tragedy
@@vidyapai247 Quite a responsible pilot then, otherwise forcing a landing by taking risk and unwanted daredevilry might have had unknown consequences.
We need more such pilots
20:46 "They are not going fast enough to take off, and they are not going slow enough to stop safely" sounds like our life....
Very Good Video Production by the way... Thanks
Amazingly Made it ❤, You deserve way more subscribers ❤
thank you so much! :)
One of the best documentaries I have seen. This incident had put Mangalore on the world map for all the wrong reasons. Devastating loss for all the families and Mangalorians 😞
Why does the narrators voice make me happy?
Even the ODOO ad sounds pleasant.
😊
Thank you! :)
Best aviation channel ever...please upload more often i cant wait 😊
Lovely vid keep up the good work man
Thank you so much! :)
I am also a mangloerean I have commented at least 5 videos abt making this vdeo THANK YOU SO MUCH ❤❤
Thank you so much for watching! :)
Hey Wyngx! Just wanted to know, what is the name of the violin music you put at the end? It sounds so good!
I remember this day, i was traveling from blore to mlore and i was walking towards my house in kavoor, airport road, lots of ambulances on the road, i knew something was wrong, just wished nothing was serious, but when i reached home, saw the breaking news, it was really a bad day and cant forget this day. Wish that all who died Rip.
Quality is still unmatched 🤌🤌❤
thank you so much! :)
Your videos are very informative and comprehensible. Pls comtinue ur good work

Very, very well done. I appreciate u telling how high they were vs where they should be. Perfect grammar & verbage despite English not native. Excellent. Well done. Bravo. TY. And yes, i instantly subscribed even tho i already have about 30 flight-type subs. Well done, Sir.
My heart goes out to those lost and the ones who must suffer those losses. Big AirHugs to you.
I know that heartache.
:}
Thank you so much! :)
An uncle whom I know missed this flight that day and he’s alive today thank god🤧
One of the best content creator in the entire world, I really rate 7 star for your quality content, I really thank you for your enormous amount of hard work to create this quality content. Thank you sooo much❤😊
Thank you for your encouragement and support! :)
Which simulator do you use ?
msfs
Simply superb!
Love your style of blending tech and creativity. Special mention for sliding in the sponsor oh-so-ever-smoothly. Great going, Vikram. Been following you since your first video.
I lost my aunt in this tragic incident🥺
sorry for your loss
Feeling so sad for ur loss dear.
Thank you. I’m sad my work wasn’t up to your standards.
The video was gripping and well made, some scope of improvement is that width of runway was mentioned as in meters which I presume should had been in feet, and spelling of Boeing was incorrectly mentioned as Boieng, other than that everything was great...👍
Thank you so much! :)
Best aviation channell, no joke, please respond!
Thank you so much mate! :)
Am I the only one who gets this and Flight 1244 mixed up?
1344, you mean? Yeah, very similar stories
Great work! You kept me hooked and your narration is really good
Thank you so much! :)
Bro took 'express' way too seriously.
I wasn’t aware about this horrific incident that took place. Waheguru meher kare on the departed souls and their family members and friends. Such an amazing documentary. Keep it up. Following the channel in a curiosity to learn more such content. 🔥🙏🏻
Easy peasy lemon squeezy was so damn funny!😂
I love your videos.
Plus, the "Wyngx" sound at the start sounds awesome 😎
Thanks bro! Glad you're enjoying the videos! 😊
I love your way of creating animations and telling stories. Keep going and never stop 😊❤
4:02 spelling mistake for Boeing
Haha.. Good example of plan continuation bias from my end. I must have seen that specific shot atleast 200 times by now, but I didn't pick it up. I guess we are always blind to our own mistakes! :)
@@_WyngXbro you included my favourite aircraft, the Made in china Boieng 737 😂😂😂 (this is joke lol)
@@_WyngX yeah :)
Haha yeah
Very well explained and this is the darkest day of Mangalore 😢
Why these kinds of events take place in South India. They should focus on improving their infrastructure rather than arguing with North Indians who are way ahead of them and don’t care about South Indians
brainded incel how does this supposed to be relatedd with south india also without south india and maharastra indias economy would be doomed so please
So Childish of you to bring a topic that is irrelevant to the content shown.
Bro ... why are northies making a beeline to Southern states. ?
