Originally the album which this came from, "Argus" , was released in 1972. The band has had a pretty acrimonious history since with various versions touring and claiming the name.
Epic band, I have seen Wishbone Ash a number of times and they never disappoint. I recently went to see Martin Tuner ex W/Ash bass player, what a great night. I always thought their guitar playing was smooth, controlled and precise, as in the case with David Gilmour less is most definitely more.
Another band that I saw many times during the early 70s. The first truly "twin lead guitar" bands. Yes, the drummer gets a bit jazzy in some songs with that open hand technique. Still following you since the Genesis. Great to see you smiling at these bands that I grew up with. I get tears of joy at remembering them.
I first heard this song when I was visiting a neighbors house they were playing the Argus album on 8 track tape. I was 16 years old and the year was 1972. I became intrigued by the dual guitar playing of Wishbone ash, went out and bought the album. been a fan ever since. and the band are still creating amazing albums still today!
Another great reaction my friend , this album Argus is a killer. I know you loved Freebird by the great Lynnrd Skynrd. So do listen to Wishbone Ash's Phoenix from 1970 debut album . Freebird definitely took a nod from this track The 1973 version from Live Dates is outstanding !!

It wasn't a solo it was a duet between the lead quitars and the finest ever, imo.
