part of the reason i think fruits inspires so many people is because the outfits usually dont look put together like a runway or something, it seems so doable in everyday life yet so fun and cool. also i love the cover for that fresh fruits so much AHH
interesting you say put together like a runaway, I never personally noticed a specific put together theme with runway outfits before but I've also never really paid attention to them 😂 i agree though i like the freestyle casual element to them
Eyy thats me with the yoda backpack at 20:33 I am so happy that there is actually evidence that I got snapped by Fruits, I never got around to buying the issue myself
I am curious why the styles generally got more toned down over the years. I don’t think they’re bad or anything, but I do lean more towards the more colorful and eccentric looks.
I really disagree saying that they toned down! Each of these styles has evolved in their own way and I'd argue that things have become more colorful especially with lolita and decora
The first book had a few different people that had zip tie hair extensions, and I had never seen that before and was confused and intrigued how that would work 🤔 but cyber has some really cool silhouettes and textiles you don't see in other fashions
I would love to have a physical print of FRUITS because I'm newer to Harajuku fashion so I've never seen one before but I really adore the early 2000s style!
Haha, when you said about the crochet dress "I wonder how long this would take to make" I immediately said "a long time" to myself out loud, apparently the crochet designer in me is awake at ALL times
I was in fruits in the early edition. But I wore a face mask. He was really happy to take my picture. He actually gave me the photo. Vivenne Westwood is still huge in harajuku. I love working in harajuku even if I am approaching 50 now. I am glad to see now the Y2K look is now comming back. I love the chunky shoes . Even if they are not very easy wear!! I still rock my blue hair. But I am toned down now. 2000’s was a good time
aaaa cute! I love the clips, the froggy one you're wearing! I wish magazines like this weren't so expensive or obscure :( I love the 2000's look 100%!!! I'm sad there's no one who wears the same or similar style to yourself or others that's super bright or cute-like in the newer issues :(
@17:00 the last magazine was a lot more colorful. But now everything got more darker and industrial. There was some dark visual-k inspired outfits in the previous magazine, but people still wore a lot more colors in the previous magazine.
This was a great video idea from your friend and the person who inspired her. I really enjoyed it. The way I view the differences is that things became less experimental and less ‘DIY’ as the years went by. As more brands popped up that catered to specific looks and styles, more people most likely bought from such brands instead of improvising or making their own accessories. I find that to be very true with western alternative fashion, as well. And also, back in the day sometimes they probably just ‘made do’ with what they had or they made something (instead of purchasing, because there probably wasn’t the style-specific brand around that they could buy from) to give a certain feeling or look or add fun textures. Wow this makes me realize how much I love jfashion. It’s amazing and interesting to see how it evolved over time. This is just my viewpoint. - I personally have a few copies of KERA, as I was into more punk styles at the time of buying them. I also have a copy of a (possibly obscure) ‘gothic & lolita’ magazine called Alice Doll. As far as I’ve searched there only seems to be one volume. I tried searching google in both English and in Japanese, and tried a mix of the two, but there’s like barely any pictures from it and I can’t read Japanese well (besides katakana and hiragana) so I couldn’t really dig up much. If anyone knows anything about that magazine, I’d love to know/hear it! (Apparently published in 2001, btw)
I’d be so interested in new Fruits prints, I still have my gothic lolita bible and look through it from time to time! So happy to have found your channel!
wish I could have worn cool daring clothes like that growing up but I had very strict parents and lived in the middle of nowhere :( I feel like I'm still catching up on all the self expression I didn't get to do in my teens and I'm in my late twenties now, better late than never I guess haha :)
I'm a huge fan of W<, I still have a tee-shirt from the brand. Its motto was "Kiss The Future", so cool ! And I love what Walters Von Berendonck do now, he's so creative ❤❤❤❤❤
14:54 it's my fav look (and every crochet looks! I think they're all vintage pieces!) !! :D and this book changed my life too (but not as much as Gothic & Lolita book!), I remember I saw the book in a library in Paris when I was in middle school, as I didn't live there I couldn't borrow it but it def caught my eyes! it's sucha shame it's not printed anymore...
I think mainly because of the raising of fast fashion. Brands compete against small designers and artists, killing that sense of uniqueness and creativity :(
A lot of reasons. The economy was not doing well and looking bleak along with the societal mindset so things that were less flashy and more toned down were more safe. Also fashion changes and Harajuku and a lot of local areas were becoming big tourist traps and lots fast fashion and big chains stores started moving into the areas. Also people grow up and change and they have to get jobs and become a part of society and find other outlets. It’s life
From an outsiders perspective. A lot of these sub fashions just seem like a hassle to put together and I think that most people just don't want to spend so much time on it.
I have been given anime magazines, not j fashion spectrum of that since i do try to be a magaka,i need to find those magazine favorable e mags for persevation of ideals than paper being eaten by sliverfishes.

You are correct, it looks achievable with enough creativity.

That’s awesome!
I am curious why the styles generally got more toned down over the years. I don’t think they’re bad or anything, but I do lean more towards the more colorful and eccentric looks.
I think it just goes in waves! Just like the rock of the 70s and 80s was glamorous and extravagant which then turned into the grunge of the 90s.
I really disagree saying that they toned down! Each of these styles has evolved in their own way and I'd argue that things have become more colorful especially with lolita and decora
Styles evolve and get cycled. I think yeah there was a toned down era but in recent years people started going back to vintage and colorful.
2008 recession
I absolutely adored the cyber style looks!!! It’s kinda hard to find today but I love the style!!
Yeah it’s adorable! :)

I’d like fruits to be republished, but as sticker packs of photos of fashionistas, that could be used to customize things :)
this 💯
last thing I heard was that they were selling nfts 💀

Me and my best friend look through his early 2000’s fruits book every once in a while.Borders was the place back then that had lots of stuff like this

I loved the video!!! It gave me so much inspiration for my next outfits and so much more!! 💖💖🌈

The only downside is that is super expensive -w-;;
@@Blobitech oooh yes ! But back in the 90's (yes Im old 😅) there were deadstock shop in Paris when there was lots of WL&T very cheap : pure heaven !
My cutting off point for fruits is I wont buy any issue published after 2005. I just dont care for the fashion after that
I’m the same
Same. I want to see colorful fashion 😂
dang you changed it to 2005? I’m still rooting for 2007 tho lol
@@wearpinkatmyfuneral yea I had to double check. The latest issue I have is 96 which is 2005. I must've been thinking of something else in 2006/2007
@@jommysalami227 ohh makes sense.

Wow your so amazing! I love your videos! 😁💕

I'd be interested to get a physical copy since I didn't get to see Fruit in it's heyday (or when it was still publishing)
Love Fruits so much! I miss it :(
i have that same copy!! such a good mag
I would buy every single one if they still looked like the 2000s ones 🥲
People that had 20 years in the first magazine now have 45 years iwtkm
I like Mori kei and gothic Lolita
1:23 You like manga?! Me too! 😆💕
I wonder why fashion became so boring in the last couple of years

Is there an archive of all the street fashion pictures from Kera magazine?
I have been given anime magazines, not j fashion spectrum of that since i do try to be a magaka,i need to find those magazine favorable e mags for persevation of ideals than paper being eaten by sliverfishes.
Though I love the American inspired Japanese minimalism of today, these styles were so fun and diverse!!
About that crochet dress: I can make you one if you want. It would take me a couple of weeks, because I have to make a pattern first. Let me know!
e 6 hours until its here
I love this
could you make a video on punk or gothic lolita?
where I can buy the book?
Does anybody knows where I can get the books?
in the description there’s a link for the webstore :)

Dear cybr.grl,
I love your products and content. I apologize, these politics shouldn't be a part of fashion. I'd love to see your products in Israel.
