taking a look through my vintage japanese magazine collection! these are from the late 90's - mid 2000's from brands such as; fruits, cutie, kera and zipper! a bunch of the looks are actually similar to a lot of 2023 fashion trends we've been seeing on pinterest and tiktok recently so i thought it'd be fun to recreate a few looks :)

You mentioned the Cyber Trend of the late 90s/early 2000s and it's so surreal - I felt like that was a style that I don't see talked about enough because it seemed so unachievable at the time. Most people I knew opted for the Jetset Radio street-cyber fashion trends because it was a bit more accessible to have ski goggles and random colorful see through gadgets, but those aren't really clothing items you know? I would love to see your take on Cyber Fashion from that era, because it still puzzles me to this day! Unless you already have, than silly me
it would be sooo cool if you could do a vid styling outfits inspired by one particular kpop group through their eras. so starting out with their debut and doing an outfit for each comeback. would be rly fun to do a group like red velvet that changes concept a lot :))))

I would absolutely love another one of those videos, I’ve had a soft spot for Japanese street style (and Ai Yazawa’s work) since I was a teenager so I could watch you style fits using then as inspiration for hours.

I love this video!! It has such nostalgic/relaxing vibes all over, almost like going through fashion magazines in a sleepover with your friend. 14:54 was probably my favourite outfit, but in terms of what I would personally love to wear it'd be the one at 7:55. I really want to start wearing dresses over pants lol. As always, all of the outfits were amazing, thanks!

Katie! I have officially been influenced to get at least one vintage magazine. CUTIE was my fave, so much inspo. Also when you said it was giving whimsigoth, I loved that, cos that is my fave aesthetic, and I literally wore a 90s witch type outfit today

You have got to be my fave fashion you tuber on here besides twinelle! I adore what you do and please make it a series and keep the vintage fashion magazine lookbooks coming! I have dozens as I’ve been collecting them for 10 years and was lucky to get older fruits here in nyc when opening ceremony did a clothing collab with them! Fruits gave them vintage back stock magazines to go with the collab! I cherish my long sleeve top from the drop.

Here after watching Alexa's thrift video with you in it. Adored the special pieces she got you and how you styled them. Most people might start on a different video, but I love anime and thought this would be an inspiring one to start with- you did not disappoint!!! And you even styled the hand knit vest that I swooned over that you also used in her video. I got to see it styled 2 different ways. 😊😊
I love unique and special pieces. I have broaches that belonged to family members on both my side and my husband's. I love 70s clothing. I love super feminine clothing. I love anything my grandma would have worn (80s does 40s dresses) even though my mom doesn't understand. I'm in my thirties but jump all over the place with eras- some things are timeless, some are purely nostalgic.
I want to layer pieces to bring out my inner ethereal side- it just makes my heart sing and I want to see if I can actually let people see that side of me. Anyway- have a good day. I'm excited to watch more videos.

I have KERA magazines! They're from 2005 or 2006 I believe. I absolutely loved them. And no they're not for sale hahaha. The graphic designer behind the magazine was also really good in my opinion. Oh and FRUITS! Also fantastic.
not sure if you're interested in video recommendations at the moment but if you are, it'd be super cool to see outfits inspired by blue lock characters!! either something similar to how you did your haikyuu outfits ORRR there's one chapter where they go to Shibuya on their day off and are all drawn in super unique outfits that I think it'd be really fun to take inspo from!
I cherish my FRUITS magazines from the late 90s/early 00s. I also collected a lot of general Japanese fashion mags over the years ranging between '99-'07 and still have all of the cute freebies that came with them (Milk mirror anyone?}

I used to collect a lot of 1995-2010 japanese brand pieces, especially gothic and gyaru related items (alba rosa, d.i.a. specs, avirapink to name a few) but i feel stuck in my combinations, you have such a fresh way of looking at items it amazes me

Yes, I really love videos like this one! Back in the day, before there was Insta or even lookbook, I used to enjoy the streestyle sections in fashion magazines the most. It's lovely to kinda get re-introduced to it now!

Katie this was really, so refreshing!! I myself have not broken out the shorts yet (though im also in aus) but you really make it work! Shorts have been a hard 'trend' to adopt, for me, because it always feels so revealing, but the looser style u use seems far more flexible! It's nice to see your channel and style evolving ♡ as always

7:11 ik it might be a small detail but I'm honestly so pleased you were transparent about an item you own which no longer fits, I'm entering my 20s, which I think is when the body weight starts to change a lot based on lifestyle and/or metabolism dropping. I feel like many of us are mourning what we used to look like, and the clothes we used to wear. It's just really nice to see someone who I percieve as excellent be frank and normal about something which is, well, normal. And of course is also relevant to the outfit building.

I found 1 Gothic Lolita Bible at my local Barnes and Nobles back in 2008. I've never found one again and I love it so much that the binding broke! I'm still hunting for other issues
I dressed full on Decora during like 2006-2010 and it was all thanks to Fruit magazine. That magazine single handedly shaped my style even today
