Quite possibly one of the greatest finishers ever to pull on an England shirt, blistering pace , cut short by numerous injuries ,his goal against Argentina still to this day sends shivers down my spine .
He was taken away from us far too early. A career cut real short. So much potential, really thought England were coming together in the 00's. With him and Rooney together at the 2004 euro and world cup 2006, I really thought we were onto something.
Rooney is not all that compared to the mighty owen . He raised the bar to what is known today like the names of messi . Ronaldo. They grew up seeing how fast owen was . And the fast game was born . Look when he blasts past the Argentine defence like nothing . Only one of our players kept with him . This is why we didn't win 98 . Not even our squad could keep up with owen . I was 14 in 98 . And I thought we could win this . But how can you win by yourself. That's y owen is a legend.
One of the GOAT finishers. All England goals scored by 26 years old… Won a Ballon D’Or (how many other GOAT Premier League players won one… Two Golden Boots by 19 years-old (only player to achieve this) He had the best goals to minutes ratio in La Liga in 2004-05 From 1996 - 2004 his stats are very impressive (284 appearances 162 goals) He simply doesn’t get the recognition he deserves
LOL what? Ballon dOr winner and still "doesnt get the recognition he deserves"? Just because a bunch of stupid ass critics and armchair fatboys like ur friends dont rate him means he is underappreciated?
Well Michael Owen might have Ended Up with Maybe 56 England Goals if Injuries didn't Affected Him. Obviously He was Brilliant for Liverpool and Done Well at Manchester United. Definitely Deserved a League Title but could have Easily Scored 20 Goals a Season at Manchester United if it wasn't for Injuries again.
I am from India Michael Owen is my favourite player, clinical finisher great header, simple finishing style, long rally lofted shot, his speed, great finisher
The goal he scored against Argentina wow his career cut short by injuries! Owen is one of the best finishes the game has seen.. & for me the best England striker
watching his interviews in recent times about how his great performances as a young player contributed massively to his early decline in his career actually makes me sad. my first actual hero, got all my liverpool shirts with his name on the back and my heart was broken when he moved to madrid and even more broken after he joined manutd lol i really wish Liverpool or every club in this world manage their young talents well so they dont end up like owen, give them a fair playing time but never put too much pressure i guess
looking at our teams like the 90s team and the owen scholes ect its hard to be leave we didn't even get to a wc final now theres no hope our squad is the worst its been in decades
Sam Nyicon Finally someone who is not delude by easy draw at 2018. Sad to say this but since 2008 England is trash (Euro 2012 was small exception but only at the GS).
Ted Bundy they’ve all been born and raised in England, regardless where their family originates from, therefore are English and welcome to play for our national team.
Crazy how good in the air he was considering he was almost always the shortest player on the pitch. Just all about timing. Could have been the best striker in PL history if not for injuries.
I just saw the interview where he explained how thigh muscle injury killed his career. Not just pace but also his confidence. If only he could gain his confidence like Ronaldo did after the infamous knee injury. England 2004&2006 would be killing with him.
@@iganpparamarta8813 true. Ronaldo still had size & strength though...if you're a small player & you lose your speed advantage, what do you really have left?!
Tom D I don’t know, man. Now I’m sad. I’m United fan but loved Owen (and Gerrard). He had excellent touch and Romario-level clinical finish. Remember his goal vs Barcelona in Madrid days? I mean how many players would score like that. Not a dribbler like Messi but he could fool the last defender to score. Being a poacher might do him well.
@@iganpparamarta8813 i'm glad you said that because i was arguing with someone recently who was convinced Owen had no ability other than pace. I told him Owen was one of the best & most clinical finishers in Europe & he didn't agree, despite me going to the trouble of finding the shots/goals ratio of all the best strikers of the last 20 yrs & showing Owen was ahead of the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Suarez, Henry, Raul etc!
Not many better at headering a ball into the net. The 2 headers to win the game against Argentina 3-2 in the dying moments of the game is still fresh in my mind. Ballon dor winner 💪🏻🏆
Owen was the original messi our messi . He set the bar for all of us to see . Greatness. The best england striker we will see in our lifetime. Speed . Great strike . It's a shame that our Michael was not noticed as a legend in pes 2020 lite . He is a legend.
Owens game was built on speed and finishing. After his injuries he couldn’t find the space to score as many. From the age of 18, he was scoring major goals. Injury free, I think he would’ve scored 80 for England
It would take another century for England to produce a Number 10 like Micheal Owen, OMG! I have never seen a player who knows how to beat the offside trap like Micael Own. He is fast, finishes like no other.
Daniel L Or what club haters (the so called fans) thinks about him. Representing the country is the most important thing. How can anyone think that club is more important than playing for your home country?
I'm from the US, but I always loved watching him because he reminded me of myself as a player. He was always ready for the fast break and put himself in position to beat the defense before they even knew the pass was coming. Just phenomenal at positioning. So many strikers want to see themselves as ball handlers and forget that it's a lot easier to score when you simply give your midfielders lanes to put the ball through. So many of his goals are him running onto the ball in open space or flashing across the middle for a cross, timing his runs so that the defense was already beat the moment the mid or wing hits the ball through for him. I was 6ft 4 190 in high school, but I wanted to play like the little guy Michael Owen. So many of his goals are him simply knowing where to be at the right time and timing his runs. If I could think of one word to describe him, it would be "finisher". He might get one great chance in a game, but he would convert it.
