2005 - 2009 were the best! Miss those days. The graphics, the music, & the camera work all went together so nice & made it feel how a college football game on ESPN should feel! Then the announcers had perfect voices during that time. Todd Blackledge’s “taste of the town” segments during that time as well
It’s interesting to see how it went from a poetic event, showcasing stories, universities, and the friendly yet emotional battles between regions of our country; to the ads slowly creeping in, and eventually taking over the majority of the airtime. This comment is brought to you by Kay jewelers, presented by pacific life Walmart and PlayStation.
I miss the ol days. Much more simple time. ABC always had the best games of the week. Now u got 40 games on TV. College football is essentially pro football now.
Thanks for putting all this together! A couple of key years stick out to me: - 2004, which had the intro that lasted into the ESPN/ABC integration and would last through the end of the '00s decade. Even Saturday Night Football used the graphic sequence, albeit with different music. - 2010. I really enjoyed that up-tempo beat that lasted from that year through 2012 (other than College Football Primetime in 2012, which used the Saturday Night Football theme). - And from 2015 to 2019, games that used the "full" intro graphic sequence would show helmets from the previous season's 4 CFP teams.
ESPN definitely on it's prime right as the BCS was ending. Stunning graphics, hit heir stride in HD, good music (BCS theme is so good), good callers. Even love the "ESPN college football... Is brought to you by" voiceover guy. I hate the new playoff music that they're using for everything now. It's overly tough sounding and doesn't have the passion that the old music had in its composition. In the new newer stuff though really glad to see Greg McElroy on the air - he was in my graduating class at bama!
@@EliasReedX17 Well some do. CBS College Football and Fox NFL themes comes into mind. When it is not broken, don't fix it. Now, SEC on ABC is relying on the nostalgic theme to bring back viewers.
Agreed, their current theme isn't bad, but it should've only been used for the College Football Playoff, and kept the 2010-14 theme for the regular season
The current theme is trash. I like the new theme they have for the SEC (a remix of the late 90s theme) but the theme they’ve used since 2015 is complete and total garbage (of course it’s the one they keep the longest)

Yeah when coming into 2000 season when Alabama was tied at number 3 for most wins all-time, ranked 1 in most bowl appearances/wins, ranked 1 in most sec championships won, ranked 1 in the most national championships won, and had an all-time winning record against every sec team. Ohh how the ignorant just don’t know 😂😂😂
This theme started out ok but it stinks now cuz they changed it too much and the music is too low in the mix. The Sec on CBS is so good because it never changes and the announcer has to yell over it it’s so loud. If you’re in another room you hear that theme and it’s an alarm to get your azz on that couch
Gets to the 2015 Michigan Michigan St Game, and Sean’s cracked voice leaps into my ear: ‘ OH AND HE HE TROUBLE ON THE SNAP AND THE BALL IS FREE; ITS PICKED UP BY MICHIGAN STATE AND THEY SCOOOORRREEE ON THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME!!!!’ One of the craziest CFB days of my life. Screw the EPL. Saturdays, are GameDay.
I love how ESPN has kept the current garbage theme for as long as they have (8 seasons) but all the themes before it (which ranged from ok to outstanding) were ditched after a few seasons
Considering I was not even alive for the first couple here, I'm glad I can definitely say that I'm not biased by nostalgia in thinking the newest ESPN graphics and presentation look like corporate, focus group crap compared to the soul that the old stuff had.
Guys I don’t know about the future of college football! What do y’all think 😬
We're still in good hands❤
2012-2022 College Football was wild.
2005 - 2009 intro music was the absolute best. So many memories. Bring it back ESPN
The orchestral theme when panning over the stadium needs to come back forever

Thank you so much for creating this! This is giving me goosebumps! The old CFB intros were awesome! Can’t wait for CFB to be back!
The 2010-2014 theme songs tug at my nostalgia a lot. Miss that era of college football!
2015 - "Alright, let's turn the cool intros we've always had into shit."
For real
They had a cool downtown landscape/fireworks intro for Saturday Night Football. But not for every game like the good-old-days.
i like the theme song but i hate this years scoreboard and how they do it.
