Tuula, I am finding that your tutorials are so superior to others I have watched. I just started watching the Star Stitch, and already I am so relieved to see what I have been doing wrong based on others explanations. Thank you so much for your patient teaching!
Oh my goodness. I found your tutorials early this morning and have not stopped watching them. You are an excellent teacher and have taught me so many new things. I am going to have my family save their old t-shirts so I can make hotpads/trivets. They all love to cook and I am sure they would use them. I believe cotton yarn would be safer to crochet the hotpad/trivet together. Thank you so much for all your videos. Your voice and manner are so comforting and easy to listen to. Also, for sharing your time, experience, and videos on UA-cam. I learned to crochet at age 55. There is still much for me to learn at 65. Thanks again for all you do! Kaye in Texas.
Thank you so much for sharing! (I was off UA-cam work for 10 days so only going through comments now!) Happy to hear that you find my videos easy to listen to. True, there is aways more to learn, I am finding that even though I have crocheted for about 55 years now!
Because of your tutorials, my skills are growing and fine-tuning so much. I've been crocheting and knitting for decades, in a self-taught rut. Now I'm learning. Thank you!!!
What a beautiful treat to be able to see the places that you are around. I will never fly on a plane, if I had my way they wouldn't fly over me either. Thank you for the Stitch video.
I love your videos. Those views of Canarian Islands are very similar to ones you find in my native Mexico. Thank you! Also for all the tutorials. I’m going to saving them!
Thank you for another wonderful and useful video. I love seeing where you are, and enjoy when you do these themed tutorials. You are an excellent teacher and I look forward to using some of these stitches soon.
Tunisian crochet was my 'gateway' into traditional crochet. I couldn't grasp traditional crochet because it's very freestyle compared to the back-and-forth of Tunisian. It made all the difference once my brain recognised the stitches as, essentially, 3D rather than a flat piece. I really enjoy being able to do both styles now 🥰 Great video as always, thank you Tuula!
Thank you! Great that you enjoy both crochet styles now! I had crocheted normally quite a few years before trying Tunisian crochet. It was only when I learned that you can do it in the round with double-ended hooks that I really fell in love with it! 😊
I tried this stitch from a different crochet instructor. Yours looks much better and of course, it’s much easier to follow. Thank you so much for doing this. Like you, I’ve been crocheting since my 20s, about 50 years. But I can always learn new & better techniques from you
Love all the very complicated stitches. Way out of my ability, but fun to see. The island island is very interesting and unique. Always look forward to your videos. Have a great week 🤗
The very first stitch is my favorite and the one that I will definitely make 🤓. So many pretty stitch patterns. 🤩😍 Thanks Tuula Maria! I like these multi tutorials videos.
Hi Tuula, I've arrived at the 59:24 mark where I'll take a break. I've seen enough though to know that this is a cracking video so I'm leaving my like and comment now and I'll finish the rest later!
I recently learned tunisian crochet, and am smitten by the honeycomb stitch. Seeing it in the round with two colors is amazing to me, and I'll have to get some double-sided hooks! Also, I've been wanting to try the waistcoat stitch, and I love your clear directions. Thank you for this handy collection of stitch tutorials!
I saved this video! Wow so many beautiful new stitches 😊 I learned alot but don't have time to practice all the new to me stitches. I can't wait to get started on some swatches or a new project. Thank you so much for your helpful and inspiring videos
I really adore you. Your tutorials are amazing every time. Lots of things I can manage only because you taught me so well! Thank you for letting us join you at that beautiful spot! And also, it's a big plus for me, a Swede with Finnish origin 😊❤
The advanced stitches are beautiful and inspiring, the music is so mellow and conducive to learning. Thanks for showing us this beautiful island with the interesting scenery.
I have been crocheting many years since the late 80’s. I am loving your channel and have already learned so much. I’ve never done this star stitch, it does look a little intimidating but I think I can do it with your teaching. Thankyou!
Hi Tuula! I hope you enjoyed your holiday. Thank you for this video. I am interested in trying the tunisian stitches and the waffle stitches. Hard to choose. I guess I will have to try the all🙂
I love it here, another couple of weeks! Actually while I was putting the video together I really wanted to start makung something inneach of the stitches 😁
So many great stitches! I like these compilation style videos. And I love the colourful, lace top you are wearing at the end of the puffy stitch video too!
Thank you Joanne! I'm surprised that people do watch this types of videos as much as they do! I love that top myself, made it many years ago. Should wear it more, I have only worn it a few times every summer! The whole top shows here instagram.com/p/CdXxavKOlrU/?igsh=MXI2bTdiejFjZmx4MQ==
Just a great video. Your work is always so consistent & neat: two things I admire most in crocheting. Favourite among these? Probably the shell stitch. Framing each shell really emphasizes the pattern. Thanks for all you do!
As a crocheter from childhood i know the basics of course, but the unnamed fluffy one & the 2 tone shell were my favourites, however they were all nice & well explained. Thankyou
You really awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. Just found your channel. I’m Mas from Singapore. Love to watch your channel. Super easy to follow. Bless you and your lovely family. 🙏🏽
Thank you Tuula, what a wonderful set of Tutorials, I'm still learning and your videos are so easy and clear with good light and zoom, you explain everything so well, that even most difficult and intimidating looking stiches look very easy to do in your videos. I loved tutorial to attach t-shirt yarn with finer yarn, waistcoat stich, shell stich and last one with half double crochet variation, I'm planning to try them very soon.
oohhh.., spoiled for choice :) I loved the shell stich most...and then the honey comb..but the latter would be a challenge for me...MUCHAS GRACIAS, cara Tuula and greetings to sunny Canary Islands...:)
I saw the star stitch used as a Christmas tree. (And little ornaments) I think they either placed the tree on a cardboard cone or a styrofoam cone. It was lovely! Such a nice . Stitch. Looks a bit complicated.
Yes, it is a lovely stitch. A friend of mine in the European crochet business owners group does all kinds of things in the start stitch. Check out her Instagram, instagram.com/nordicyarnart
Oh yes, I fell in love with it the first time I visited Las Palmas over 10 years ago, and want to get back to it every time! So calm and restful-looking place
Oh wow the jasmine stitch is a new one for me. I’d hate to try to learn that one by reading a pattern only. That’s a doozie. At one point it looked like a bunch of bananas with that yellowish yarn your using, so I’ll probably always call it the banana stitch in my head😂
Beautiful and very informative! Thank you! I have a question, however. When you’re doing the “Reversible Textured Stitch”, you commented that, if you had crocheted too many foundation stitches, you could take them out later. Can you please explain how to do that? I’ve been crocheting for over 40 years, but never learned that was possible!!!
Oh yes! What I simply mean there is that when making something where the exact number of stitches doesn't matter, like a blanket, scarf etc and where the multiple of stitches in the pattern is not very large, max 6 or 7, I simply make a chain that is at least long enough, without counting the stitches in the chain. Then when I start crocheting I crochet until I get enough multiples done, without caring if that will be exactly the number of chains or if there will be 1,2,3,4 etc chains left. I don't start a new mulpiple of the stitch pattern, instead, pick the unnecessary chain stitches out afterwards.
The Waistcoat Stitch might be useful for what we used to call a tunnel, a scarf made in the round, all one diameter. It can be worn slipped over the head to cover the head and neck or to cover just the neck. It's fairly long.
The sample I'm making for the shell stitch is DK weight yarn and the hookbis either 3 or 3.5 mm, I'm not at home so I could check what size that colour hook is! But you can make it in any yarn, just have to have a hook that goes with your yarn.
Yes, it does matter, the edge is smoother when you turn like a book. If you turn the other way round, the yarn stays in front of your work and easily pulls on the other stitches and creates a sligthly more uneven edge. I only saw anyone turning that way for the first time about a year ago though, it had never come to my mind to turn like that!

Tunisian simple stitch is the first one I’ll make into leg warmers. You are my favorite crochet teacher.😊
Thank you so much! 💗 Leg warmers would be great in that stitch, I wouldn't have thought of that!
Because of your tutorials, my skills are growing and fine-tuning so much. I've been crocheting and knitting for decades, in a self-taught rut. Now I'm learning. Thank you!!!
Wonderful! Glad to hear! Happy crocheting! 💜
Your accent and presentation style are so relaxing 😌 to me. A total pleasure for me.

Thank you for another wonderful and useful video. I love seeing where you are, and enjoy when you do these themed tutorials. You are an excellent teacher and I look forward to using some of these stitches soon.
Wonderful, thank you! Yes, this is the type of video that probably nobody starts making all the stitches right away, more like a reference!

What size hook for the shell stitch and what size yarn is that? My favorite is the shell and the last stitch tutorial with the half double. Thanks! ❤❤

Does it matter how you turn your yarn at the end of a row? I see you do it like turning a page in a book while others do it the opposite.

Can that tshirt yarn rug be made in a rectangle?
I have done this t-shirt rug in a rectangle crocheting back and forth, on this video ua-cam.com/video/2evJKldA_js/v-deo.html. It could also be done in the round for a rectangle but I haven't tried how many stitches you would need in the corners.
@@TuulaMaaria Thank you!
What is the best yarn to use for my crochet some yarn gime allergy
Not sure what that allergy is, sorry! For many people with allergies, organic cotton works.
Instead of doing the t-shirt yarn in a round, can you make squares?
You could but I have never made them, would need to try out what amounts of stitches would be needed.
I have done it back and forth, that way can be either square or rectangular, this video ua-cam.com/video/2evJKldA_js/v-deo.html
❤❤❤
I don't know what that puffy square stitch is called either but I would call it a basket puff stitch, lol.
Yes, it could be called that! There probably are a few names, just haven't found them!

That was quick! 💗
