Teaching people is hard. It's hard to judge what you know now and what you need to know. Then there's perfect, good enough, not that great, wrong... A thousand ways to skin a cat and most work kind of thing. He's hands down a better tuner than I am, but I'm probably a better teacher than he is. I'm glad it helped get you started

After running that for a bit, I just did my own cam change with Texas Speed Recommendations and now look to learn HP Tuner.

Bro, I've bought a mpvi2+, still don't know what the "+" represents, about 2 weeks ago and I feel like im learning fast! I do have a background with building and tuning racing drones, total different but same concept with searching through the HPT O/S? Two weeks in and I've already tuned my 4l60e to preform how i like and now I'm learning how to set up channels for logging so i can start tuning after i repair my leaking exhaust manifold! Also, it seems without a registered MPVI, you cannot access other OS options within a sample file. At least I hope that’s the case, because without the supercharged 2.4L Cavalier LD9 reflash, it’s going to be near impossible to tune my turbocharged 2.2L P08 S10 PCM, which uses a 1 bar TPS-based VE table.
I set up an account and tried going to the tune repository to see if this is the way I want to go for tuning my 2007 suburban after cam swap. Unfortunately I can't get into the tune repository without having a device registered...
You can search just the OS number and get the swap segments for 4L80E, manual trans, flex fuel, etc. And all segment swaps have to be done before you can upgrade the OS to the custom OS'. Also its free to upgrade OS' now. Been that way since 3.0, IIRC. And P59>P01. LOL
Just ordered the newest version of the interface/hardware have lots to learn. First order of business is to build a bench tuning harness. Do you have a recommendation as to how to wire up a simple harness for plugging into a ECM that's NOT in the car ? Or do you already have that video and I missed it ?

My dongle is a Pro, so it has the thing on it for the wideband, it's all plug and play, as long as my PC is along, or I'm logging with my handheld. I believe on the newer ones they use an unused channel like EVAP or EGR to accomplish it.
I just purchased HP tuners Pro mvpi 2 suit with two credits to tune my 04 GTO T56 manual car I bought the wideband O2 sensor and AEM gauge also now when I go to the computer to make my HP tuners account it will cost me more money.....like I figured the paying was done...lol. Tune Repository is dead now. Doesn't exist anymore. At the end of the day, no matter what system you choose, you'll have to learn to tune, Holley, Halltech, HP Tuners. Learn to tune or learn to accept paying someone

Nice info - I like the basics on getting started - I had Holley HP which is one of best software but the it's a vicious circle of replacing failing hardware from dual sync disy, O2 sensors, IAC and finally the HP ecu , so now have a LS 0411 ecu controlling a ford Cleveland and need to decide if I buy HP tuners or just pay someone everytime I need to make changes Can you copy one tune from another ecu without licencing both ECUs like if I want to keep one as a spare or play around with it- cheers
Yep it is. Once you license an ecu like for vats removal, you can do whatever you want whenever you want like tune or whatever without paying again. Only with that hptuners module. Your ecm is only unlocked with that module
That's correct, once you license a PCM for whatever reason, you have that license forever. Go back, change gears, cams, add blowers, whatever. Infinite changes with that OS.
How do I know what one to get for my 2002 Silverado? I have used Holley Sniper tuning that you get when you buy the sniper. With this there are 100s of tuners on the market so its so freakin confusing! It sounds like HP tuners is the one I want, but they dont even give you a # to call to talk to them and ask questions! It looks like i need a MPV 13 but there is no support # to call to ask if im even getting the right one! I want one that i can send data logs out to them and have them look at it and send a tune, and the ability to go make my own tunes according to what i put on my truck. changing AFR etc. HELP!! You seem to be confusing tuners, as a service, with tuning hardware and software. HP Tuners is hardware and software to tune with. It's not like Diablo or SCT where canned stuff just offloads from it. If you get a hole of Andy Bryant at LSXSpecialties or Trevor Couture at TCT Tuned, both can be found on Facebook, and either can help you.

Out of thousands and thousands of videos on UA-cam I have not seen anyone put up a video on how the best way to make the 1990 GT Mustang tunable it is an OBD1 car but it is fuel injected in the first year of airbags like do people use HP tuners on this setup

Here recently, you have to have at least 1 MPVI registered with HP Tuners to access the repository

Yeah, sadly some of the information from this video is no longer true, HP Tuners doesn't have any non-stock tunes available any longer.

That is correct. You license your car, then a year later change gears, you're good to go in and correct it.

Yes, you use the compare function and copy/paste all the tables, I show this in some other videos

The carb tunes the same as any carb, nothing special about the LS

Probably 8, 2 per PCM. Newer Gen V stuff, some of it is 3 credits per.

I'm only marginally competent as a tuner lol.
But the real problem is once you tune someones junk, they come back for the next 3 years everytime they wire something wrong or have a bad sensor and blame that pesky tune.

How do you get a license how do you do all this stuff then? You're not telling us how to get the license
You need credits to license the PCM, it takes 2 credits to license most GM PCM's.
You buy the credits from HP Tuners.
