Just ordered my mpvi2 for the lm7 in my Volvo 240. Was previously tuned on HPtuners on a dyno but left a few things unrefined. Cold start, speed limited to 99, and misfire detection with the summit 8707 cam. Its idle was set at 1k and idles great when warm. When cold it will try to stall after u dip the throttle and then recover.
So altho it made 390whp and 395wtq I don't think it was quite finished. They did a great job on the swap and has the tbss and 92mm tb, has lt headers, msd coils, all new gaskets and head, rod bolts, pac 1219 springs, and Brian tooley pushrods and trunion kit. I'm totally new to the LS world and have done minor tuning in tunerpro on inline 5cyl turbo whiteblocks. Mostly antilag parameters and load points for vvt solenoids. The car also has a ford 8.8 with 3.73 gear and mini spool, along with a z32 tt 5spd trans and mecloud 6 puck.
I know this is an old video but I'm wondering if your still using hptuners?

Enjoyed the video ( I've been watching for awhile now😉)but there are few things you may want to recant. 2bar and 3bar OS upgrades dont cost credits anymore and havent for awhile now. At least I've never had to use credits to upgrade an OS. Also, the unit comes with 8 credits, not 6. And finally, the transmission drop down menu is useless. You'll have to do a segment swap to actually switch between 4l60, 4l80, etc. just wanted to put that out there so no one gets into it and is like "shit what am I doing wrong" lol. My last bit of advise is learn on a stock engine. Starting out on hp tuner on some cammed out turboed beast of an engine would be not only very frustrating but also very likely to not end well for the engine. 😉

From my perspective, you have a good source, to do videos from with this HP tuners.
Since it would appear to me that there is plenty to go over. As there are more than enough sections, to do individual videos on.
Even locating tuner forums, and understanding how to ask a question, in order, to get the information one would need!
Although, doing donuts in the snow, should not be pushed aside for tuning content.

Awesome video! Thanks. I had a lifter collapse in my 2013 GMC 1500 and the more I find out about the AFS/ 4 cylinder mode the more I wanna disable it. I was looking at the Range Disabler or this HP programmer you demonstrated here and after your video I have several ideas that I would like to do such as tuning the truck better and making it shift more firm. Thanks for this video, you gave me hope that I can have an actual vehicle turned to my desires, not someone else’s

To clarify a thing or two, the transmission drop down menu actually does nothing. Like switching it from 4L60 to manual or 4L60e to 4L80e doesn't change anything because the vehicle was never made to run the other selected transmission. You can remove any transmission related code or abuse modes to run a TH350 or TH400 though, very simple to do and I've done it.
They make a feature called a segment swap now, where if you can find a matching OS with a manual or say a 4L80e you can transfer over those transmission settings into your tune and it would run it like it was built with it. Read up on that if you want further info.
Also OS upgrades are free now, they became free about a year and a half ago. It does not cost anything to jump up to a 2 bar or 3 bar tune. Though just be aware that once you upgrade you can not switch OS's again unless you flash back to factory with your saved stock file. Never over write your stock files incase you ever need to do that.

      @SPPTVarmy  7 років тому

+GTPSilvermist Thanks for the clarification. I watched Matt the sloppy mechanic's video on the segment swapping. Did not know it was a free OS upgrade now though. Cool.

the Video was helpful. I watched Sloppy Matts vids on HP tuners but felt it was just over my head. I still mess with a Gen 1 SBC that goes 11's on the street. But plan to go LS this year. However still to scared to go EFI. Have to learn hp tuner as you did cuz I sure can't afford a guy to tune my car as often as I change things. Have a good day from New Orleans, Louisiana, USA!!!

This was a freaking AWESOME video! Thank you so much man! I been wanting it for my cam/heads silverado 5.3. My tuner uses it and did a damn fine job, after a couple tweaks from my pickiness. but I'm in a different state now, so I can't go him or he come to me if something goes wrong :/ Been intimidated by hp tuners. But I love the more simple explanation and might get it. I just mainly want it to data log and email with tuner for fixes. But if I learned enough I would like to do a simple/SAFE tune on my stock truck! Thanks more videos please Subscribed!!!

So if you add up the cost of HP tuners a laptop and everything you need... you can spend a couple hundred bucks more get the new Dominator system and not even need a laptop.

Great video I'm convinced I got lots people in the area telling me a truck guy like me that loves fuel injection as much as I do ( I have no respect for carburetors )should one and theyed get me to tune there truck's. But I did take affence to dissing the 4l60e I've had great luck with them I drive a 98 Z71 Silverado and hell it's got 340 000km on it original untouched 4l60e hell I think it even has the original fluid in it and I've had as much as 13 500 pounds behind this truck (was a short distance haul mainly on a grid road from one farm yard to the next and about 5 km highway) but I tow and haul with it no problems the 4l60e has definitely bin good to me I've owned many. Ya if you go out drag racing and thrashing on it I'm sure it'll break. There cheap to fix and build up I think the 4l60e's are a great economical transmission specially for a daily driver. You couldn't pay me enough money to ever swap it for a shit 3spd junk th350. I'll keep my overdrive and mpg thanks.

Great video, thanks! I'm about to buy an HP to tune a 0411 ecm swap into a 97 chevy pu. One note though - power enrichment is more similar to the 'power valve' of a carb, which can be on the primaries and secondaries of a 4 barrel carb like a Holley. The power valve opens at low manifold vacuum to add extra fuel for high load situations. This will happen at full throttle of course, but also at part throttle. For example, a loaded pickup climbing a hill on the highway, might be say 2500 rpm and 1/3 throttle. But because of the low rpm, that part-throttle opening is still resulting in low manifold pressure, meaning the engine is under heavy load. The extra fuel keeps combustion temps down to protect the pistons and exhaust valves.

    very informative. new sub
I have a 97 cobra I need tuned and 73 mustang I put a fuel injection system on and later took it off because my holly tune was way more snappy and hard hitting off the line. I took a look at tuning but it kinda scared me. I have the fuel injection system shelved at this point. Will put it back on when I go with turbo's. This info will help a lot. Thanks

Looking into ecu options for an ls swap. This is almost making me think I’d be better off going with Holley efi by the time I bought the go tuners and credits and everything

Starting to sound like Holley ecu is the way to go.. I’m not paying every time I want to change a tune.. fuck that bullshit

Not every time, once it’s unlocked you can tune that PCM all you want

SweatPantsPosseTV That’s not too bad I guess... I kept watching the video and it actually sounds like an inexpensive way to tune.
