It wasn't in the book or the drama CD. It was added for the anime, and someone else said it made him figure out that the reason Paul didn't want to lecture Rudeus was because Roxy finding out at that point that he's married would've broken her heart and crushed her spirit.

By definition alone, if by chance Rudy did get with Roxy, as well as Sylphy it would be considered a harem, but this so far has been absolutely NOTHING like how other harem anime are. Most harem anime have no build up, no character progression, no reason at all for the women to fall for the typical bland generic protagonist that 90% of the time lead those shows. The way this is going, it’s SO far from the usual harem formula.
Yeah, most classic harem anime is basically all the ladies fall for the main character with basically 0 build up. At least both Sylphie and Roxy took time to build up, like 2 seasons worth of time. In normal Harem anime, 2 seasons are probably enough for 10 waifus already. Well another thing to put in is, most harem anime also don't go into the actual sexual relationship, but this one totally does.
Yeah, it´s most like "Some girls fall in love from just one guy? So that´s a harem" when we all know that in the end the guy just get one girl. So in the end that´s not a harem actually, one good example for one is the "100 girlfriends" anime

Here's a big clue in difference between this an a actual harem anime. In a actual harem anime generally the women that fall for the mc all fall under an arch type and will fall for the mc because he was nice to them just once. This has an actual relationship build up so the characters falling in love makes sense.

Harem anime usually have multiple girls pine for the MC's attention, but most of the time only one "wins". Very rarely does an anime have an ACTUAL harem.
And even when they do, it is either at the end of the series or not taken seriously. It is weird for us to get a logical explanation of how their relationship can function properly
So there wasn't too much that was cut from this episode (there's still a couple small things here and there), and the bit with Rudeus and Roxy in the bar was actually anime original (in the LN it was supposed to be the mages of the party, so the two of them and Talhand, but Talhand starts going on about how men should be muscular and well built, and well, if you guess what his uh, orientation is, you could say, well). At the inn once she recovers, Roxy asks Rudeus about the magic he used to save her, and asked him if he had used the Emperor-tier water spell "Absolute Zero" based on how quickly it spread, and the fact that it completely froze every monster down to the core. Rudeus starts trying to figure how to tell her it wasn't, but Talhand gets the jump and tells her it was the same Frost Nova spell she uses, but with a shit ton more mana dumped into it. Also, I was hoping the bit that happened before the OP would've been in the last episode with the sound of Rudeus throwing up over the episode title at the end, but this works too.
After Roxy feels humiliated by the forst nova thing, Elinalise intervenes in a smart way to make Roxy feel better, demonstrating how good Elinalise is at helping others and being an overall good big sister to all the women
Generally harem anime have a protagonist gather a gaggle of girls to him out of practical reasons in the plot (work, studies, mission, etc.), and a lot of relationship teasing follows where the protagonist either ends up with one of them as his girlfriend or wife, or he enters a polyamorous relationship with two or more of them. The "leftover" girls can remain as supportive friends or sister figures, settle for platonic relationships with the protagonist, or vie for a chance of further romance down the road. Harems can either wait for all the girls to gather into the cast before the "competition" for the MC's heart (and meat) starts, or he's already in a relationship and gathers more women to his circle as potential lovers, actual lovers, frenemies, or platonic-but-teased supporters. Commonly the women just tag along with the MC and become his lovers or teased potential lovers within a few episodes. in MT it took almost six years for Rudeus and Eris to reach the point of lovers (though he was definitely interested in her and she'd fallen in love with him just before TP1), and it took a year for Rudeus to fall in love with Fitz at the uni while Sylphie'd been love with him since he first saved her. With Roxy... Rudeus is already married, but she's fallen in love with him hard and thinks he's available, and even that moment was the result of years of buildup on her end.

This episode had a cupple anime onlly sceenes and I love them like Rudeus and Roxy buying stuff in the basar and their catching up at the tabern. But they didn't have to go out of their way to make Rudeus look creepy by sniffing Roxy.... Rudeus its allreaddy creepy enough in the novels.
I thought it was appropriate for Rudeus' character to go sniffing like that. In the book and drama CD he did bury his face in the nape of her neck and draw deep breaths. "Kun kunkunkun kun" Rudeus and Roxy going shopping for gear reminded me of S2E3, when Rudeus went on a date with Sara.

Though, that promise does kinda get broken - the anime left it out last episode, but Paul's group ran into succubi on the way to Rapan, and while Shierra does know detoxification magic, she was too afraid to get near Paul in the state he was (healing magic requires touching) due to how things went for her after getting caught in the mass teleportation, so the only other way to get rid of the charm effect was to do it with Lilia (good thing she was around). Talhand, the only other male member of the group at the time (Geese was already in Rapan), was completely unaffected by the succubi.
