The fact that the Satan _“isn’t for anything, rather he’s anti-everything”_ is an important reminder that this entity wants to torment and kill you regardless of what you stand for. I am a new Christian, too. Well, I realized that even though I would tell myself that I was Christian but I was a luke warm Christian. I would hear scripture and my first thought was to question it without context and sometimes reject it. The older I get, the more I understand and the more I realize I was completely wrong. I have recently asked for forgiveness and genuinely asked Jesus to come into my life and for his Will to be done even if that means things happen in my life that I don't understand & that I may receive as negative but the I trust God & His plan for me. I asked He guide me so that my actions reflect His Will and to protect me from the adversary. I'm starting to actually read and comprehend Scripture in a way I've never done before & it gives me a peace I have never felt before. I feel physically & mentally lighter.
Most people familiar with the story of the Bible know that all of the tragic problems begin with the fateful story of Adam and Eve and the snake in the garden of Eden. But if we want to appreciate the whole biblical portrait of sin and death, we have to consider the entire series of rebellion stories in Genesis 1-11, the first main movement of the biblical story. Here we find a combined human and spiritual rebellion that comes in three waves, each story intensifying the fallout of the previous episode. The humans and the snake of Genesis 3 find their counterparts in Cain and Lamech (Genesis 4) and the rebel spiritual beings (the sons of God) in Genesis 6. Here we find the first human city, permeated with violence and sexual abuse that results in the birth of violent warrior kings who are part human, part spiritual being. These rebels live on in the mutant legacy of the Nephilim and their descendants, called “the Rephaim”: the spirits of these dead warriors who terrorize the living. These rebellions in Genesis 3-6 are then intensified in the story of Babylon, where humans exalt their city into the divine realm in the ultimate power grab, until they’re scattered by God. When Moses later reflects back on this story in Deuteronomy 4 and 32, we learn that Babylon wasn’t just a human initiative but intertwined with a spiritual rebellion among the sons of God. So then, these three waves of rebellion give us three categories of spiritual evil that map precisely onto the storyline of the New Testament. (1) The arch-rebel, who goes by many titles: “the satan” (the adversary; Mark 1:13); “the devil” (the slanderer; the evil one; the ruler of this world). (2) The rebel sons of God, who are called the “principalities and powers” by Jesus and the apostles (see Luke 22:53; Ephesians 3:10 and 6:12). (3) The evil spirits who terrorize humans, animating their vices and exploiting their mortal weakness (Mark 1:23-27, 5:1-13). These three types of spiritual rebels are confronted by Jesus in the Gospel narratives and are overpowered by his death and resurrection (John 12:31-32; Ephesians 1:20-21). And while these beings still hold sway over individuals and societies who are enslaved to their lies and social systems of exploitation (1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:9), Jesus is in the business of liberating people from their influence (Romans 8:38-39; 1 Peter 3:15-20). So then, the entire biblical story offers a robust and nuanced portrait of spiritual evil. It invites us to see that we’re all participants in systems of cosmic ruin, and that our only hope is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, who has opened the way into a liberated creation.
The story is more nuanced than we know. But it gives it a depth we need to be able to understand what goes on around us. That on occasion, evil does have a brilliance to it that's not just due to man's doing alone.

Whenever I bring up Nephilim to some of my brothers and sisters they always seem to reject this happening because "how can they have laid with women?" and I bring up that on Earth they could have taken human form.

haha yes, it is a great work of fiction isn't it? I hope they come up with a bible part 2 filled with other exciting, made-up people and ideas! I already read it to my kids at night as an excellent bedtime story, alongside other fictional tales and stories, it really gets them frightened haha. But after a while they calm down, remembering that none of it is real, and go to bed nice and happy

I won't criticize your relgion because it used to be mine and I thought it was the best religion. Christ however isn't about religion. He's about extreme grace and mercy. He's about giving you the Holy Spirit, one that never leaves leaves you and is the ultimate guru/teacher. There is nothing like that in sikhism. You have to be a perfect person to be one with the Lord in Sikhism. Christ however can use and talk to broken people like me. I have a relationship with Him that I never earned. It's His grace that changes me and conforms me to Himself. I highly reccomend youtubing Dan Mohler if you want an inside look at what that looks like. Love to you too paji! It was spiritual pain as well, because it was literally the weight of the sins of the ENTIRE world that Jesus took into His Spirit. He was stripped half naked, whipped 40x, a crown of thorns was put on his head, he was publicly humiliated, made to carry a 40 kg cross , nailed to a cross + had to bear the sins of the world in His Spirit? What I love about the way you tell those stories is that you start to get that every story humans write or tell has similarities to the Bible. It’s like it is all in us already. It is all told. Adam and Eve were already made in God's image, they were made in His likeness, but we're not God Himself. When the serpent tempted them, there was some truth in his temptation, in that they would become more "like God," by knowing good and evil. However, because we are not like God, yes, we know the difference between good and evil, but because we are in the flesh, we can only do evil. We can never be like God, Who is holy. Paul wrote in Romans (somewhere there... I think) that we are slaves to our sinful nature, and that the good we know and want to do, we can't do. And ultimately fail to do in our own strength... This is why we have what's called grace. Jesus did the good we cannot do ourselves. He alone was faithful, and obedient to the Father, even to the point of death on a cross. He did all the work, that we would not boast in anything we've done, because, really we can't, knowing how fallible our flesh is, but instead give glory and praise to the Lord. That's grace

We were always meant to know the difference between good and evil but not by doing Evil. God placed the tree of Good and Evil in the garden not as a temptation but as a lesson. If they had listened and trusted God's word, they would existentially learn Good. Instead, the serpent twisted God's lesson into a temptation with the help of human weakness, Woman and Man did not know the words of God well and misapplied it back when asked. When they doubted God's good word and choose to rebel, they existentially learned Evil.

Faith life study Bible is a free app and it's the best study Bible I've ever seen. It comes with everything from archeology, video of the different sites of the ancient world, maps, tables that link Old Testament with the New Testament. I think Dr. Michael Heiser helped with the Old Testament. Since jumping in and really doing an in depth study and reading of the Bible I have become obsessed. There is so much more we dont see til we research it.

Amadeus tell me if I'm right, I'm new to ALL of this but you're saying to fear god because if we fear the spirits that bring darkness into our lives, it'll make them more powerful which means more darkness into our lives. Not all things are good and if they are aggressive and malignant they have no real place in the ideals of truth and harmony on any scale of life. Oil and water. The Hebrew word SARAPH, plural SERAPHIM, denotes a FIERY SERPENT/DRAGON. This is what I believe was in the Garden a Dragon of some kind. This is also why I believe movies show dragons as old and wise, with magical power. I believe The Satan was some kinda snake with legs, what we call Dragon because "On your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life." God said this to the snake. it had to be a real reptile. Trust in Jesus.
Michael I think thats symbolism, personally. Like they said, it’s a metaphor. Personally I think Adam and Eve is a story about how humans give into the temptations of evil and greed and selfishness and how it affects others, and the snake/Satan is a personification/symbolism of that. I don’t believe it’s literal history, but rather true in its message. Just my opinion.

I thought it was weird when I first found out then I got upset that so many people teach that these people are some kind of weird creature from heaven but they are men and women who are very powerful enemies because God glorified these people before they fell. Ask Jesus for grace to resist the devil and ask Him for more wisdom then you already have, also, that what is hidden will he revealed to you for the sake of His name and his church. @Adventist Jesus was surrounded by demons at the cross. Carefully read Psalm 22. Pay close attention to verses 12-13. Just who or what are the bulls of bashan? They are demons. At the cross of calvary, there was a physical reality seen but there was also a spiritual one taking place.
This is such a cool video. The imagery is perfect, and the pacing and explanation of the information is easy to digest. I’ve been on a journey with God for quite some time now , he saved me from narcissistic abuse , and the wisdom he blessed me with is astonishing , i’m praying that my ex boyfriend turn to God genuinely , sadly he worships the enemy and i think about my ex from time to time , thinking about how if God could use to me so God can heal and work in him , but i refuse to do anything that leans on my own understanding , if it’s not in Gods will it won’t be done . Great Post, it was an awesome read. From what I gather these scriptures totally back the video. One thing that clicked for me, the angels held the title of "Sons of God", in the beginning. By Revelations, we humans bought back by Jesus, hold the title "Sons of God." We who were made lower, through Jesus have been exalted. Probably a big reason why the Satan and demons hate the believer.

Well actually no he's not wrong. In the early Hebrew manuscripts ben eloyhim only appears twice in the old testament and it's always referring to divine creatures. The Israelites are always called sons of Israelites never sons of God. Only in the new testament this changes.

But on Septuagint, the oldest copy of hebrew Bible from 2-3 BCE, there's no 'sons of Israel' instead we got 'sons of god'. 'sons of god' here was much reasonable, and resonance well with another verse on psalm 82 which talk about the same 'sons of god' on divine council. You can watch many Dr Michael Heiser seminar on divine council theology to be more informed.

Where's the verse of the first part, and the second part was probably just because they were filthy with sin and if you let them go they will sill fall into sin and it will keep happening until they are gone which is why they would do that. The one who gave them freewill was themselves. We chose freewill over God.

Perhaps I can clear things up a little more for you. The devil (and god) are not real, they were invented by Bronze-Age nomads to 'explain' things they didn't understand. It's interesting from an anthropological point of view not something that should affect your everyday life.

Do the demons in this video align with Heiser's view of demons? In this video, it seems as if the demons are the fallen Sons of God themselves, rather than the disembodied spirits of dead Nephilim.

I am a new Christian, too. Well, I realized that even though I would tell myself that I was Christian but I was a luke warm Christian. I would hear scripture and my first thought was to question it without context and sometimes reject it. The older I get, the more I understand and the more I realize I was completely wrong. I have recently asked for forgiveness and genuinely asked Jesus to come into my life and for his Will to be done even if that means things happen in my life that I don't understand & that I may receive as negative but the I trust God & His plan for me. I asked He guide me so that my actions reflect His Will and to protect me from the adversary. I'm starting to actually read and comprehend Scripture in a way I've never done before & it gives me a peace I have never felt before. I feel physically & mentally lighter.

Most people familiar with the story of the Bible know that all of the tragic problems begin with the fateful story of Adam and Eve and the snake in the garden of Eden. But if we want to appreciate the whole biblical portrait of sin and death, we have to consider the entire series of rebellion stories in Genesis 1-11, the first main movement of the biblical story. Here we find a combined human and spiritual rebellion that comes in three waves, each story intensifying the fallout of the previous episode. The humans and the snake of Genesis 3 find their counterparts in Cain and Lamech (Genesis 4) and the rebel spiritual beings (the sons of God) in Genesis 6. Here we find the first human city, permeated with violence and sexual abuse that results in the birth of violent warrior kings who are part human, part spiritual being. These rebels live on in the mutant legacy of the Nephilim and their descendants, called “the Rephaim”: the spirits of these dead warriors who terrorize the living. These rebellions in Genesis 3-6 are then intensified in the story of Babylon, where humans exalt their city into the divine realm in the ultimate power grab, until they’re scattered by God. When Moses later reflects back on this story in Deuteronomy 4 and 32, we learn that Babylon wasn’t just a human initiative but intertwined with a spiritual rebellion among the sons of God. So then, these three waves of rebellion give us three categories of spiritual evil that map precisely onto the storyline of the New Testament. (1) The arch-rebel, who goes by many titles: “the satan” (the adversary; Mark 1:13); “the devil” (the slanderer; the evil one; the ruler of this world). (2) The rebel sons of God, who are called the “principalities and powers” by Jesus and the apostles (see Luke 22:53; Ephesians 3:10 and 6:12). (3) The evil spirits who terrorize humans, animating their vices and exploiting their mortal weakness (Mark 1:23-27, 5:1-13). These three types of spiritual rebels are confronted by Jesus in the Gospel narratives and are overpowered by his death and resurrection (John 12:31-32; Ephesians 1:20-21). And while these beings still hold sway over individuals and societies who are enslaved to their lies and social systems of exploitation (1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:9), Jesus is in the business of liberating people from their influence (Romans 8:38-39; 1 Peter 3:15-20). So then, the entire biblical story offers a robust and nuanced portrait of spiritual evil. It invites us to see that we’re all participants in systems of cosmic ruin, and that our only hope is the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, who has opened the way into a liberated creation.
The story is more nuanced than we know. But it gives it a depth we need to be able to understand what goes on around us. That on occasion, evil does have a brilliance to it that's not just due to man's doing alone.

I won't criticize your relgion because it used to be mine and I thought it was the best religion. Christ however isn't about religion. He's about extreme grace and mercy. He's about giving you the Holy Spirit, one that never leaves leaves you and is the ultimate guru/teacher. There is nothing like that in sikhism. You have to be a perfect person to be one with the Lord in Sikhism. Christ however can use and talk to broken people like me. I have a relationship with Him that I never earned. Adam and Eve were already made in God's image, they were made in His likeness, but we're not God Himself. When the serpent tempted them, there was some truth in his temptation, in that they would become more "like God," by knowing good and evil. However, because we are not like God, yes, we know the difference between good and evil, but because we are in the flesh, we can only do evil. We can never be like God, Who is holy. Paul wrote in Romans (somewhere there... I think) that we are slaves to our sinful nature, and that the good we know and want to do, we can't do. And ultimately fail to do in our own strength...
This is why we have what's called grace. Jesus did the good we cannot do ourselves. He alone was faithful, and obedient to the Father, even to the point of death on a cross. He did all the work, that we would not boast in anything we've done, because, really we can't, knowing how fallible our flesh is, but instead give glory and praise to the Lord. That's grace

It comes with everything from archeology, video of the different sites of the ancient world, maps, tables that link Old Testament with the New Testament. I think Dr. Michael Heiser helped with the Old Testament. Since jumping in and really doing an in depth study and reading of the Bible I have become obsessed. There is so much more we dont see til we research it.

Michael I think thats symbolism, personally. Like they said, it’s a metaphor. Personally I think Adam and Eve is a story about how humans give into the temptations of evil and greed and selfishness and how it affects others, and the snake/Satan is a personification/symbolism of that. I don’t believe it’s literal history, but rather true in its message. Just my opinion.

Lucifer is transliteration in the KJV. It only occurs in Isaiah 14:12, and gets translated as "Son of the Dawn," but it is not necessarily a name.

Great Post, it was an awesome read. From what I gather these scriptures totally back the video. One thing that clicked for me, the angels held the title of "Sons of God", in the beginning. By Revelations, we humans bought back by Jesus, hold the title "Sons of God." We who were made lower, through Jesus have been exalted. Probably a big reason why the Satan and demons hate the believer.

Well actually no he's not wrong. In the early Hebrew manuscripts ben eloyhim only appears twice in the old testament and it's always referring to divine creatures. The Israelites are always called sons of Israelites never sons of God. Only in the new testament this changes.

'sons of god' here was much reasonable, and resonance well with another verse on psalm 82 which talk about the same 'sons of god' on divine council.

Perhaps I can clear things up a little more for you. The devil (and god) are not real, they were invented by Bronze-Age nomads to 'explain' things they didn't understand. It's interesting from an anthropological point of view not something that should affect your everyday life.
