Hope you all enjoyed this reaction as it felt like an entire universe of possibilities has now opened up for the MCU! GOTG 2 was amazing too and I can't wait to edit that for next weeks reaction :) Let me know which scene was your favourite and why in the comments and have an awesome weekend!
Thor 3rd movie is next
hye from malaysia.. suguestion for " BAAHUBALI 1 & BAAHUBALI 2" its india movies not malaysia movies.. very epic
If you love Benedict so much, you gotta look up him acting out Dormammu's parts. Wow. Crazy!!!
@14:24 those are called the Crimson Bands of Cyttorak.
I can't believe you haven't seen all these movies at the cinema. Not only the MCU Movies.
Fun fact: Strange died thousands of times in the time loop, that's how he became sorcerer supreme because he had sharpened his skills so much
Also he was mentioned in Spider-Man 2
@@unforeseeable2.058 yeah but that was taken
@@unforeseeable2.058 What on earth does that have to do with his deaths?
Also that was an easter egg and has nothing to do with the MCU.
@@user-jt1js5mr3f I meant to put that in another comment
@@user-jt1js5mr3f I mean, it could also go under "Fun fact"
As in, also = this is a fun fact too.
Notice that Wong 'only' laughs after Dr. Strange essentially becomes his 'boss' 😅
I never noticed that 😂😂
I don't think that's why he laughed though
@@bertcompton he didn't say that's the reason, i think he meant that's ironic
@@Junior-lc2im ok
cuz hes chinese.
I like how you said Stephen was "almost humbled" by the end lol it's quite accurate, he never fully loses the arrogance, vanity and stubbornness, they are part of his personality after all. He just toned it all down because the actual lesson he learned was to see the bigger picture, the "greater good" when in the past he felt like the world revolved around him for his brilliance as a man of science. So dying over and over for the world was a great full-circle moment for his character.
Basically Tony and Stephen learned the same lesson with different method
Doctor Strange is such a stunning film, visually. And I love Benedict Cumberbatch as Dr Strange. He’s such a great actor.
Yh was surprised to see him in the mcu at first but he fits so well
He even looks like the comic Dr. Strange
Apparently, *Joaquin Phoenix* was the - I hope as hell - second choice for the role...
How, uh, about *no* ? 🙄
This movie was a really good origin story!! Definitely a favorite. Can't wait for Doctor Strange 2!!!!
Yeah a really great film
@@SebScreen Make sure to watch it when it comes out though, to avoid spoilers.
@@eoaiau1 Although a cinematic experience is a fantastic way to watch a film, I personally disagree. I think the ability to watch on a normal sized screen lets you see a lot more of the film itself than immersing yourself within it. For big fans of the comics like myself, they always hide some niche details in the background/panned away from what the attention is drawing to on screen.
Since the laws of physics of Dormammu’s dimension don’t apply to our world, it’s believed that Dr. Strange was being killed over and over again for MANY YEARS while in our world, a few mins passed. Dr. Strange was mastering his powers for many years in Dormammu’s dimension. That’s why in Infinity War, you will be surprised by how powerful Strange has become.
Damn thats a lot of deaths
Nope it's a loop of that moment. So all he can practice there is the power of the time stone. Stop putting your own head cannon as a fact in the film as this may confuse some people.
@@MarkTheShadow Well he retains his memory, even if he wasn't physically practicing them but he still had all that time to think about all the spells and concepts he read about. Plus we see him fighting back in some of the time loops, not all the loops went the same way even if they ended the same, meaning he could have chosen to use some loops to practice or test out things.
@@MarkTheShadow Like the other person said, and as the movie clearly shows, the ways Strange was fighting were unique every time. Maybe it doesn't work for him(the caster) like it does for others. Also, Dormamu used different ways to kill Strange, proving Strange could've had ample of practice.
not to mention he was saying "ive come to bargain" multiple times in a sarcastic tone, implying he was aware of the deaths everytime. he even fell exhausted at one point. stop putting your head canon as fact @@MarkTheShadow lmao
"Wth... bondage?" I SCREAMED SO LOUD OMG
Haha I forgot I said it honestly
When Strange gets the call in his car, they mention a retired Air Force colonel with a spinal cord injury in experimental armor. That’s War Machine’s injury in Civil War.
I thought it was the guy from the Hammer suit in Iron Man 2
@@shophaune2298 I think so as well, otherwise the times do not match up.
Remember what happens in end game?
To avoid as many spoilers as I can, let's just say that Strange was already a Master of Mystic Arts by the time Loki's alien invasion of NY takes place, back in the first Avengers movie, so I think the "guys with the spinal cord injury in an experimental suit" is actually the guy that we saw testing Hammer's prototype in Ironman 2
@@D4rkn3ss2000 He wasn’t though.
Spoilers
The ancient one defended the Sanctum Sanctorum at Loki’s invasion. She told Bruce, that if he wanted to meet Strange he was about five years to early. Or something like that. Could also have been seven. But the point stands. Dr. Strange plays definitely much later, then Avengers.
@@dm_dude oh... I was confused then. My bad. Yeah. I was watching the reaction and when they mentioned the avengers I started doubting what I remembered. So they actually were talking about Rodes' injury at the end of Civil War. Thats a nice detail.
@@D4rkn3ss2000 No, it was the guy in the test suit in Iron Man 2 whose spine did a 180
Here's the clip >>ua-cam.com/video/9E9bscLGTAA/v-deo.html
If I remember correctly Dr. Strange was first mentioned in Captain America: Winter Soldier, which always makes me happy to notice whenever I rewatch the series 🤩 such small things make MCU films fun to see over and over again (except for the Dark World, we don't talk about the the Dark World).
"we don't do that here."
No talk of the dark world allowed here
He was also mentioned in Sam Raimi's Spiderman 2. I know it's not apart of the MCU but it was a cool Easter egg nonetheless.
@@sethadame1474 The billboard showing Mary Jane is located on the Bleecker Street where the Sanctum Santorum resides.
I talk about Dark World. It's not one of the best MCU movies, but it's still a good movie. Not great, but good.
10:22 I used a lot of the ancient ones sentences for my english exam (not my native language) and my teacher was impressed by the 'deep thoughts' behind it 😂
Ohhhh.... Same, I too, rubbed all the philosophical shit from this movie, last year in my english exam, that's really cool
The special effects is why Dr Strange would not have been able to be made 15 years ago. The dimensional realms portrayed on film would have been next to impossible by effects over a decade ago.
It would've been slower to render, but recursive folding of 3D space was possible back in 2006. The specific algorithm you see on the screen is a variation of the stuff that came around 2010, programmed by the original author (iirc).
@@ThatBonsaipanda I agree. Suppose I meant more in the line of expense and time. Not many film studios back then were willing to take a chance with money and profit. We are lucky that some producers did take up the challenge or we would not have had some of the films we did - say, like "Titanic" or "Armageddon".
Augh, you're reminding me of that '70s _Dr. Strange_ TV movie, which I still find unwatchable....
"who needs wifi when you can enter that realm?"
Seb explaining why i do acid
I watched this in IMAX 3D. It blew my mind.
17:14 This wasn't rehearsed. It was a genuine fear reaction.
Rachel McAdams didn't know what would happen in that scene and when the broom fell, she was actually frightened.
Strange is one of the most powerful characters in the MCU and he has a significant role in the next marvel movies you will see
We don't actually know how long Strange kept Dormammu in that loop because I doubt such a powerful creature would give up so easily. They might've been there for ages
My favorite MCU character is introduced. This movie was trippy to watch in theaters.
According to director Harold Ramis, the initial idea was having the main character stuck in his time loop for 10,000 years, but in the end, it was only ten years.
@@red_0848 - Seems you're thinking of *Groundhog Day.*
he was killed 1,000 times
@@red_0848 Scott Derrickson? He was the film's Director, and one of the writers.
I think the whole thing was that Dormammu exists outside of time. It had never experienced time and had no way of understanding. Therefore sticking it in something like a time loop started driving it mad.
The MCU has two Sherlock Holmes Robert Downey, Jr being the other and two Doctor Watsons.
Only missing Henry Cavill to complete it. Would be hard for them to resist that :D
@@Dajova Don't forget Jonny Lee Miller from Elementary.
And only one Irene Adler between them. Oof, I can just feel the testosterone…
Now we just need Will Ferrell in the MCU and we got all 3.
3 Doctor Watsons
Bargain, I’ve come to Dormammu

As he should 🤣
I never noticed that Steven got a call asking to operate on Colonel Rhodes. That's actually sick
2:12 kaecilius called the ancient one "hyporcrite" because she also draws power from the dark dimension, but she tried to stop them from using it
and while she uses it to keep her alive long enough to meet and teach Strange (because even before she met him she knew his potential and said "he supposed to be the best of us all") , she really should have explained her good intentions to her students so that the whole "Mordo going bad" thing might have been avoided.
this and ant-man are the two most re-watchable MCU movies. i loved many of the others, some even more, but to just chill and rewatch this and ant--man brings me such joy
Now we included Shang chi also
also GOTG 2 and Ragnarok
This and AVENGERS are my MCU Rewatch movies. This one is my favorite, because hey, Tilda Swinton and Benedict Cumberbatch. (In the same movie, even!!!) 😁
23:24 What have we learned? Always save before every boss fight, every gamer knows that.
Auto-Save XD 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@TheRealYDA Nah, I don't trust auto-saves. 😜
@@joniroxanne96 I am a Minecraft Player XD, Guess Ur Experience with Autosave is Worse 🥶
The Cloak of Levitation is my favourite character 😄😄 Great reaction, as always!! ❤️
The movie mentions Rhodey (AKA War Machine) when Stephen is driving and going over cases. There is a case about a man with a spinal fracture from "an experimental suit of armor" and Strange says he doesn't want to ruin his perfect record.
Apparently his accident happened a few years before he studied the mystic arts. Not weeks
Stephen is incredible. He died for us over a thousand times (and he learned more things every time, so he came out better after the bargain), unthinkable in the beggining of the movie, one of the best characters developments of Marvel.
Kind of like Tony Stark’s character arc condensed to one movie, but Strange got to survive (eventually)
21:58 oh boy, maybe you shouldn't watch tenet cause nolan takes that concept to the next level.
The cloak of levitation is the bestest friend you could ever had. My favorite character.
"that's what I felt when I saw cap with that log" you and us all, sis.
Watching you being so excited about the visuals was so fun. Phase 3 is just crazy, movie after movie.
And then Phase 4 takes it to a whole other level.
Man it's almost 2am in my country and I almost watched all of your mcu reactions, I just can't stop. When I see this reaction vids I kinda expect someone who are excited watching these movies as much as I do, and you are definitely doing it! Keep up the good work and greetings from Brazil bro
Loved this reaction. Dr. Strange was one of my favorite movies in the MCU. Thanks so much man. Looking forward to your next reaction!
Glad it’s your fave! Good seeing you in chat Kammy
As far as "powerful" stones go, they kind of work as a system, so it's relative. Time and Space stones control the most tangible axis of matter that we can relate to, so they are the most easy to grasp i think. Power, Reality and Mind are more nebulous. The Mind stone controls consciousness, even creates it as we saw with Ultron and Vision, so it can control or create a living beings consciousness. Of course the Power Stone is the most "powerful" since it gives infinite energy, but Reality can change the very structure of the universe (the Dark Elves could have snuffed out all suns in the universe with it in a moment). Each Stone kinds of loops in with the others, as one stone can enhance the effects of another if used together.
Really looking forward to this reaction. 😊
This was basically the only Marvel movie that I really couldn't get into when I first watched it. Then the more I kept watching it, the more l liked it. And this movie is definitely in my top 6 or 7 of favorite MCU films.
The visual effects in this movie are fantastic.
I loved when Doctor Strange met Peter Parker for the first time, and he introduced himself as Doctor Strange, and Peter said, "Oh, are we going by our superhero names?"
The cloak is my favorite character in the movies.
The cloak is the most loved inanimate/non living object in the entire MCU....
Ummm spoilers much or?
I like how the books are chained so they don't touch each other. Any good sorcerer knows there can be bad side effects if powerful magic books touch each other. :)
Favorite scene is when The Ancient One pushes on Strange's 3rd eye & sends him on a ''trip''.
I really wish that was a Disney ride
The more time that goes on, the more I love this movie. I was always a fan of it but all these years later I realize just how quality it is. Definitely think it’s one of the most underrated MCU movies. Absolutely loving your MCU journey so far and can’t wait for you to be caught up so you can experience them with all of us as they release!
Hey Seb! Iv been a huge fan of yours for a but now and really had to mention; you're one of the few reactor's that have mastered the balance of being a "cinephile" and being able to predict outcomes while also maintaining your suspension of disbelief and enjoying every moment that unfolds. I feel like I'm right next to you experiencing things for the first time again. Your commentary and post viewing perspectives are so genuine. Really glad I found myself here my friend, CHEERS 🍻
"Cap with the log" - yeah we felt that too. That and the helicopter scene
This is still my 2nd favorite MCU film
(The visuals + Cumberbatch 🤯🙌🏽)
I love that you correctly identified the time stone immediately! You’re on top of everything!
Power doesn't mean immortality. The Ancient One is the most powerful in that fight but she didn't expect Kaecelius to stab his subordinate just to stab her.
Also the coolest things is supposed to happen in the 3rd act of the movie not the middle
In the comics, Dr. Strange would often use colorful phrases relating to the mystic world, such as "By the Dread Dormammu!" He used that one a lot for many years - until they decided to actually introduce Dormammu himself as a character.
I can't wait🤗🤗 He is one of my favourite characters.
The visuals in this movie definitely draw heavily on the original Doctor Strange comics from the 70s, which had incredible but deeply bizarre art. Apparently the artist and the writer would drop acid together and come up with the stories and visuals, and I feel like you can really tell 😂
When Mordo said: too many sorcerers...
Gotta say, not not true.
Well, we have three sorcerers that messing with times and reality 😅
They really recreated the feeling of Dr Strange comic books. Dr Strange is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel universe, but he almost never resolves anything with combat or violence.
In the phone call before the accident, all of the proposed patients are Easter eggs for Marvel characters.
Even though Strange is no longer interested in material things, in the comic books, he got into arguments with Tony Stark over preferences on supercars.
One thing they didn't explain well is that the time loop went on for a very long time, during which Strange learned a lot about magic.
This is a movie I watched twice in the cinema in 3D.
I watched it a second time because I knew i would never be able to experience those mind blowing trippy effects in 3D ever again.
the looped time trap for me is very significant, as I see it as an improvement over another similar trope: Worf fighting JemHadar soldiers over and over again to exhaustion, in Star Trek DS9. Eventually the leader of the group faces him, and he still doesn't yield,... and the warrior says "I can't defeat this Klingon, all I can do is kill him.... and that's no longer fun"
when it comes to a battle of determination, you *stand. your. ground.*
more often than not, your opponent will be like "Fuck this, ... this isn't worth my time."
“I thought Ant-Man quantum realm was trippy” if I remember correctly the quantum realm effects were a test for the trippy ass effects of this movie
Fun fact: Benedict Cumberbatch did the motion capture for Dormammu so that whole “I’ve come to bargain” scene was basically just Cumberbatch arguing and fighting with himself 🤣
They'd be dumb to get anyone else to do it, Benedict Cumberbatch is a mo-cap God. He's probably better than Andy Serkis. There's nothing the guy can't do, at the highest level.
He also did the voice... because of course he did lol
@@marveldreamworks5330 Of course, lol.
It’s like Sherlock vs. Smaug
@@sfodd1979 He's good, but don't compare him to Serkis.
If you listen closely, when strange was driving his car and hearing about a guy who needed surgery in his lower spine after an armor accident, that was Rhodey! Strange could of fixed Rhodey :/
Oh I hate time zones 🤣🤣🤣 I wish I could be at the premiere! Doctor Strange is my favourite

Love this movie probably the most underrated film in the MCU. l can’t wait for the sequel I look forward to what Sam Raimi has in store for us.
Dormammu's had the finest entrance by far. No other villain seemed so powerful in such little screentime.
There’s actually a theory that the quantum world in ant man is related to the place he was when the anciant one was showing him her tricks

I interpret the "bill that came due" from the Ancient One and Dr Strange's actions , to be that they un knowingly caused Mordo to "turn to the dark side" if you will , which who knows how that will go or what consequences will appear because of that.
i think that phone call at 3:17 was about Rhodey, it says "crushed his spine in some kind of experimental armour" it may not be but i like to think it is😂
