Now there is no reason if the footage exists.
Because it sucks and sounds horrible.
@@Me-qp8vz So did the KISS ALIVE takes and RUSH Exit Stage Left recordings. The audio engineers fix it!
VH were a dysfunctional band. Be happy you got what you got. Some really fantastic studio releases!!!
Eddie playing live is maybe more of a treat than how awesome he was on the albums! Truly mind-blowing.
Dave singing live however does not match what is delivered on the album...
Man they were good! Those were the days!
This was one of the last real Van Halen concerts. The reunion is a good thing but without Michael Anthony it’s a different kind of truth. The brothers are mega-douchebags for the treatment of Mikey. I have nothing against Wolfman but come on... , Maybe Wolfie should get a band together with Janik Gers ?? & John Mayer. That would solve 3 classic bands problems. Hell-get Paul Bostoph on drums so Lombardo can go back to SLAYER & finish the final tour.
This is that mythical level of 80's cocaine fueled musical energy only a very few performers ever achieved.
Was there that day ,still sounds epic
Did you ever watch the Mtv contest where that guy won a weekend, something like that, with Van Halen? It's really good. It's on UA-cam if you haven't seen it. NOTHING like it would be approved today Lol
Yes I saw that😅
@@binka21 You couldn't pay me to hang out with the current stars in the music industry even if they did try.
@@drewjohnson4794 not even Lizzo?
Michael Anthony one of the best backing singers. Such a great band at their peak
“We’re taller than they are...” - Alex Van Halen when asked to compare VH & AC/DC. Lol
acdc is lame compared to them imo
lmao
lol but eddie and malcolm were friends though
@@andrewbintang4591 there’s an interview of Alex saying that. Maybe he was joking around.
@@noeltheshemale i know, it was actually a reply to the guys from ac/dc joking about van halen earlier.
but people took all that shit way too serious and before you know it there's a war between fans over nothing! lol
Dave may not have sung all the lyrics but damn he sounded pretty good
Clean your ears out and listen again. it's easier to count how many note he got right compared to how many he got wrong.
I'm prob in the minority, but I think Dave doesn't sound very good. Michael is what makes the songs have any decent singing or chorus. It's a shame Eddie didn't help Michael more on the harmonies in order to cover Dave's "singing"
@@Me-qp8vz It's rock man, not classical music. I don't care if Dave makes wrong notes. What counts is originality, spontaneity and sincerity.
Dave was never a great singer, but he was a phenomenal performer/frontman. That was his strength.
Spot on super pot iron. Rock n roll man
I was there, front row. So glad I got to see them before DLR left. Favorite band in their prime.
The good old days, miss you Eddie, Eddie the G. O. A. T
Love this. I am one of those fans in the crowd. Amazing! Superb gig and great weekend.
The beginning of the end. Damn, where have the good times gone?
The 90s fucked them all up
Yup, saw them in March of '84 in Providence, RI. This show had to be in the summer, I'm not sure how many shows they did with Dave after this. Not many, I know that.
I here that!
This was the beginning of the end of Dave's hair too
Adam Lenhardt yeah I noticed it looked like it was thinning
I remember when their first album came out when i was in jr. High school.after that you just couldn't wait for their next albums to come out while in High school. This was one band i believed that would never break up. Broke my heart when it happened
I was there! Also on the bill were Motley Crue, YandT, Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Van Halen, AC/DC - what a line up!!
And Accept.
Saw them in 1981 at Madison's Coliseum when they were young and crazy athletic, awesome!
The band is on fire here and the guitar solo is amazing...
No "band" will ever replace the energy, vocals and musicianship of this greatest band of all time. And I've seen ALL the greats.
I could see a band replace the energy tbh. All it takes is an 8ball line each
@@cadan8790 you don’t think any other bands have ever done drugs?
Surely you jest..Yes Eddie's finger tapping was innovative..But the "music" was just lots of noise..Took you from nowhere to nowhere...Always thought they were WAAAAY overrated...Shit, even The Monkees had tons of fans...
@@scottthurman6135 Holy shit, that's the stupidest take I've ever heard on VH. Noise???? Get your hearing checked.
@@andocobo is that even a question?😂 I’m not a fucking idiot, but David was off his nut this performance.
That is the coolest upload I've seen in a minute, thank you. I was in 4th grade when 1984 came out and it was AWESOME!!!! And it's still AWESOME!!!
Still awesome to hear & see this video of VH live in their prime almost 40 yrs later!
RIP, Eddie. Your ‘Brown Sound’ will stay forever. 🙏🙏🙏
Beautiful chaos at its best! I love you VH! Mind blowing band in its prime right here...
i miss this 80th days what a cool world it was
RIP Eddie, thank vou for your blessed music!
Good times miss the 80s
Shoulda been there in the 70's. Van Halen in 78 & 79...People werent even strapped in when their rocket ignited. Threw people for a loop. Melted venues, peoples faces, P.A.'s, speaker wires. The Planet shook I'm tellin ya, I was there.
Eddie is on fire as is everyone else in the band. Thanks for this video !
Still goosebumps after all this time. Nothing short of incredible!
The thing that always gets me watching these guys play is just how much FUN they were clearly having. That's mastery right there.
Kick ass performance.. pure energy
I love how Edward took this song's guitar parts to the NEXT LEVEL!
I saw them on the Women and Children tour;the energy they had was hard to contain!!!
I was 16 at that Donington. Best line up. Best day of my teen years. Best effing everything.
When music was about having fun and being silly...
but when was the point it changed so radically?
hellboundTX333 it wasn’t about being silly... this is straight to the bone, raw heavy rock n roll. It’s all feel not planned out
abradolf lincler ya but they’re having a lot fun with the song
@@quitscheantchen8542 1 word....NIRVANA
and doing a fuck ton of coke
i wish the rest of the show was available, they were on point
Jane Lane They were on the point of my dick Dave can’t sing now or back then all he does is jump around
Jane Lane I do not think you know what that phrase actually means.
Never again will we see this ..fans ,music, guitarist,band...I'm so future to witness this in my life...r.i.p
I had seen this once before, pre UA-cam days. Goes to show how this band doesn't need lights & fog to blow people away !
Jorge Rodriguez yep, VH is ok but they are no Motley Crue 😉
I was there! Castle Donnington Monsters of Rock. There was the mother of all plastic beer bottle fights before VH came on, the sky turned black with thousands of brown 2 litre plastic beer bottles being thrown. Some guy threw one at DLR. he stopped the band and said “I saw that, I knew who threw that! It was you! And if you do it again, I’m gonna come down there and FUCK YOUR GIRLFRIEND!”
Hdguido53 oh boy.
@Phil Swift I was being sarcastic if that didn’t come through. I’m with you brother! I’ve been a guitar player gigging for almost 50 years and I couldn’t agree with you more. However, I do have respect for Mick Mars. I think if he would’ve been in a band that was more concerned about kicking out kick ass music rather than wearing make up and looking like a bunch of pansies jumping around stage in drag he would have got a lot more respect. In my opinion he’s a pretty decent guitar player.
2020 has been shit! from Kobe to Eddie. Heart wrenching bookends to a shitty year! R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen. I'm forever grateful to you for the wonderful sound! The soundtrack to my adolescence. With a big fucking smile on my face, I will take your music with me until the bitter sweet end. Thank you!!!!
Wow.. Now that's how you do it. I was lucky enough to be at this one and we also had Motley Crue opening the gig... Ozzy, Gary Moore, Y&T and ACDC topping the bill. It was sunny all day.. And i still have my ticket to it so trust me on this.. That little lot cost me £11.50p. Without a doubt the best open air gig... Ever in my opinion.
The raw energy of rock. Nothing compares.
EPIC.. simply epic, I remember listening to this on BBc1's Friday Rock show, at 10 years old, I was hocked.. anyone got the FULL concert visual? That would be fantastic to see, thanks for the upload VANHALENARCHIVE, GREAT times!!
Alex is easily the most underrated drummer, like ever.
We were supposed to open for them at the Whisky. My drum player broke his collar bone riding and ATV on the street. Hit the curb and dumped it on him. A week before the gig. Really changed my life. Probaly why I’m still here. We were on Fire. LIGHT IT. was our band name.
GREAT "Almost" story! 👍
So much talent - what a great live show!
yep was at this gig, gettin old lol
This audience doesn’t know how lucky they are to have experienced this 😩😩
If you said I could go to that concert but only if I turned deaf afterwards, I would take that in a heartbeat. This is coming from a musician too.
That Fookin ENERGY!!!!!! Damn that was special!
Thank you Van Halen the band the group The Music I just pray before you Brothers leave this earth any time that you shared with the whole lot of music people and fans and evenings me as African American black guy who loves his music this is one of my favorite videos just one day I hope you guys get together and just say hey man we did it right we made it whole lot of people happy thanks guys
