@Franz Fanon it started as cancer of the tongue and then rapidly spread to his whole body in a short time. He said it was because of him holding his metal guitar picks in his mouth in that spot but he also was a heavy smoker for most of his life. From what I hear he was against doing conventional medicine in his progression and relied on holistic or green recovery methods.

So many guitarists think being the fastest shredder makes the best guitarists, they play 1000mph on everything but go nowhere musically because they just want to show off like “hey look at me”! The best guitarists are guys like Eddie where they play music that fits the song that could mean no solo and no leads in the song, could mean slow one note solo or a fast shredding solo it’s not about hey look at me! While stationed in Japan in 86', like everyone could not wait for the release of 5150. Had the cassette of 5150 a month before anyone on the base. Paid way over normal price to record store owner to get a priority shipment of 5150. Made a good part of my expense back, selling copies of it on the base. Never forget the day I got it. Had people beating my barracks door down, the minute I hit the volume button. Still have the cassette today.

One of the hardest songs in recorded history to sing. I have the most vivid memory of buying this cassette(the first day it was available) and putting it in my car stereo. The intro to this song came on and my brain said COOL…then the band kicked in and I kid you not the hair on my neck stood up. At that point this song wasn’t on the radio yet only Why Can’t This Be Love(I wasn’t crazy about it at the time) so I was thrilled to hear this masterpiece. It screams HOPE and who couldn’t use a little bit of that. Thank you guys for taking time out of your lives to write this for us.

Both brothers are so talented. They left their mark on creative rock n roll music. Music creativity has become a machine now days. The folks calling the shots in mass media have gotten so afraid to take risk in order to preserve the idea that music is one of the fine arts. All about sticking to a sound formula that worked yesterday for people to tune in and listen. It's all about making the investers happy. The artistic motivation that used to be provided by big time media has left the building.
