You should clarify in the title that the video is mostly about air to air abilities, with little to no emphasis on ground
I believe you should have considered the ground pound capabilities a bit more... the f4e for example... it is only an ok fighter when it comes to an air battle... but put it in a ground battle... and with a loadout like a couple aim9js , 2 walleyes, 3 mavericks and 2 aim7e2 and it turns into one of the best planes for that role, personaly i believe it should be an A tier...

S tier aka the F-16 tier
S+++ F-14 Tomcat, it literally carries US Teams
I'd still rather my Tomcat.
It's superior in BVR by a long shot, and it still can beat an F-16 if you know what you are doing.
The Falcon being pegged to 9G is what kills it. Sure, a prolonged dogfight will be a problem, and you can rip in a Tomcat if you pull too hard. But you CAN pull hard, and that's what gives you the initiative you need in a fight against both F-16 and MiG-29. It's kinda weird to fight in a Mirage 2K style as a Tomcat, but that works well enough. Can't wait to get an F-14 with a proper engine.
@@EriIaz Yeah, I would say that it is the limiter that is used. The F-16, as given by the U.S Air Force, is limited to 9Gs, which is accurate for the governor, but not so much war-time conditions.
Although I love that Gaijin is making it accurate per the American military's words, but it must be understood that 9Gs was to save the pilot, not only the plane. Other planes that are significantly more fragile (such as the A6Ms and many lower ranked aircraft) are able to pull 15G+ turns without breaking or destroying parts of the plane is a terrible feature. If they are going to limit the F-16, they should accurately model planes to be damaged at unrealistically hard turns. Or, at least slowly start killing the pilot due to how much pressure is being put on his body.

@@EriIaz the only two things that give it an edge are; it gets Phoenixs but those are somewhat easy to dodge, and it's an American plane... Which means your team is full of other F14s and F16s with no high tier prems. Other than that, the F16 beats it out in every other category. Anytime the games comes down to my F16mlu vs an F14, I always slap the F14 so god damn hard.

This tier list is frustratingly innacurate. The biggest things I noticed were on the su-17, f4E, and the german 104G. The f4E is still incredible from what ive seen and still holds its own at top tier, considering that every player ive seen with it has roughly a 2:1 K/D and they hold their own well. The german f104G is also an amazing aircraft, it never gets uptiered to 11.7 and holds its own very easily from 9.7 to 11.3 and i grinded out all of my german top tier with that beast. The su-17 is dogshit
I think Harrier GR.7 could sit at B tier. Most people don't know how to use the Harrier effectively. You need to set relative control to "NO" on the "Thrust Vectors". It makes it so you have to hold the button in to have the VTOL facing down, and when you release it the VTOL goes back to the forward flying position. So when you are turning tap the keybind for thrust vector in short bursts and combined with flap use (Harrier has extremely strong flaps) you can turn quicker to get a missile off. I think Harrier pilots use this technique in real life, it's known as 'Viffing'.

It's still F tier no matter what, bombers at top tier are almost always automatically F tier and it sucks as a fighter, it literally has no redeeming qualities for ARB right now.

J-7D is honestly a really solid plane, deserves to rank higher for sure. While you lack raw thrust it still has a very high thrust-to-weight ratio and a very good climb rate because of it. Top speed might be lacking, but it does not rip in a straight line either.
PL-5B are the best rear-aspect IR missiles hands down.
I picked it up to grind my China tree, and I have had great succes with it. While I cannot yet compare it to the J-7E, I'd currently rank it above the MiG-21Bis' easily. R-60M are just complete and utter trash once you've tasted the gloriousness that is PL-5B range, tracking and flare resistance combined with an orbital missile dispensing plane.
PL-5B doesnt have flare resistance at all either, it is basically a R-60 with more range, but it is dragged down because it is not a all aspect and is on a MiG-21MF at 11.0 with PL-5s, so the MiG-21bis is better and more now that it got all aspect missiles
The f104s has flares now. And a lovely matchmaker.

Weirdly, the F-4J has the two gimmicks the MiG-29 has; the HMD and the feature where it can lock people up with the HMD. It honestly doesn’t mean much for it, but I just find it interesting thst it has a bunch of additional features to play with
Tornado is really good at Boom&Zoom. It's a high Tier FW-190, two good missiles, two high damage output cannons with long range and ballistic computer, and real good energy retention. Play to its strengths, and you'll start to love it.
Too bad that B&Z just doesn't work at toptier. Maybe it is still relevant at 8.7 and below, where all the old "gunfighters" are placed. Boom & zoom at toptier will make you either eat a SARH missile on high altitude / in a headon, or get AIM-9L launched at you from rear-aspect while you trying to "zoom".
@@honkersss it does work, you just need to make adjustments. Boom at low altitude from the side, not from above. Zoom and use your flares/chaff. Yes, sometimes you still die, but in general I've found this works pretty well

@@TriCop I have good experiences with the Tornado. To be fair, I only use the Marineflieger variant, which doesn't constantly has to fight Fulcrums and Falcons.

Hate that people keep saying the Tornado is bad when they’re just playing it wrong-you wouldn’t try to dogfight in the Buccaneer or F-105, they’re bombers.

@@perennialE well it’s not ahistorical, the Tornado is a very heavy plane with high wing loading, it isn’t supposed to be maneuverable. I’ve spoken with some original pilots and they said the strategy they’d use for aerial combat is just take an enemy head-on, fire a missile, and then just keep going straight while they turn, putting the enemy like 5-6 miles behind and slow
The sea harrier has a radar, and that’s about it.
Just gonna note something about the 10.7 aircraft. Don't they get downtiers most of the time due to the premium spam? At least, they rarely see 11.7. I've been thinking about getting Kfir Canard but I'm not quite sure yet...

@@perennialE the 7f is no longer the best sarh missile, they just added the R27ER which pulls 30g, easily reaches mach 4.5 on the way to its target, has a sustainer meaning it keeps its energy, thus giving it 40+km range, and it should be near 100 if it was modeled like irl
the radar on the mig is still a little bugged i believe but from a missile standpoint the ER wipes the 7F

The MiG27K has a targeting pod with thermal vision and which is a huge difference to the MiG27M that only has the basic guided bomb camera
It does not. The targeting is built into the nose assembly and it's only optical.

Swedish main here. I can't disagree with the J35D placement, I'm pretty sure we all know how bad it is when it shares the same space as Aim-7s and 30g missiles. J35XS sounds about right as well. I have to disagree with the JA37C/D placement though. I've flown against F-14/16s for quite a few matches now in both JA37s and have preformed great. F-16s are almost a non-issue ngl but sharing the airspace with a F-14 is terrifying until you get past the head on. Don't know about the Finnish mig 21 bis, didn't grind it out lol.

About that Non-issue comment I made earlier, aside from the Aim-7F I think that both are planes are equal. I've actually run down F-16s on multiple occasions and slung an Rb24j/74 straight into their engine or just hit em with the 30mm. In dogfights the F-16 compresses hard at high speeds and pulls less aoa than the JA37 at lower speeds, from my experience. The biggest plus the F-16 has going for it is that the F-14 has bullied everyone on to the deck so the us F-16s climb to space and lob Aim-9Ls. Which when I had the F-14s on my side and climbed to space I had the same results.

F16 mlu is literally the same thing as adf but it has ground ordinance. I feel like its just gaijin realizing that lots of players plays US so they decided to make a money grab plane for US tech tree by literally splitting mlu into two separate planes. Typical gaijin move
The baffling thing is they put ADF before the A. I think most people are just not going to grind the A since it's just worse.

I agree in almost all of what u said except the position of the f14 in the ranking. If the positions are from left to right , the f14 should be at the first position of the S tier by far. Its currently imo the best fighter in war thunder , it can win in a dogfigjt against everything , has a good amount of one of the best radar missiles (7f's) and it is almost the best in every aspect except in ground capabilities and acceleration.

The GR. 7 is definitely over C tier and I'd say it's A or S. I rarely get killed unless I'm being ganged on by 2-3 people. I usually get 3-4 kills.

i agree with most of the list, except in its current state, the mig29 is top of A tier, but as it gets fixed/buffed itll prob fall right where you put it. however, the f14 still dominates and completely controls the game. its above the mig29 and maybe some of the f16s

Personally I disagree with the gr7 I’d put it at A or B because it’s very effective at killing f14s and sometimes f16s cus ppl don’t know what they’re doing and putting the thrust vector to 35% makes it very capable at dog fighting

About f14 its pohenix is easy to doge and and when it 1st came i tought "well shit its gonna beat everyone in dogfights" but i can beat it while in the kai i just need speed and thats rly it i would put it in the A tier (in my opinion)
I think the Phoenix is just a gimmick, what you should be worrying about is the sparrows.
i could also defeat F-14s in the F-4E dogfighting them but that doesnt mean the F-14 is worse than they dogfighting, it means that the pilot flying it is absolute trash, F-14 should be 11.7 even with its current armament without AIM-9Ls, since it has just the armament capacity of the F-4s, together with one of the best radars in game, F-16 level of maneuverability and a insane versatility to fight enemys

@@perennialE Agreed, the GR7 isn't competitive and this is coming from someone who has a 3 K/D in it. People just die to it due to their skill issues and inability to counter, and then call the aircraft things like a "Dogfight monster" . From what I've gathered, People don't know how to counter it, they die and claim it's an insane aircraft. I do well due to skill and knowing the aircraft not the aircraft itself.
In short, If you see a GR7 low, going 0.8 in a straight line and periodically flaring, DON'T Try and engage with guns, It will lead to a vertical one circle turn which you will 100% loose , thus being sent to the hangar.
People really just play into it's advantages is what I've noticed XD
J7D IN D TIER? Its a mig21 with PL5Bs yeah but, they are very very strong missiles. The plane is D tier, but missiles are S tier. IMO should be C.

I don't understand the Harrier GR. 7 being C tier since I feel like it can outmaneuver everyone or almost everyone, has constant flares, and has thrust vectoring to screw with people in dogfights. I generally get 3-4 kills without dying and I usually only die when I'm being ganged up on by 3+ people.
@@perennialE I understand that, but you could say the same with f-104s and you must keep in mind that the majority of players can't energy fight.
@@perennialE agree to disagree then. The Harrier is much more useful for me because most people try to turn and then they just die. It can evade better than most jets at the BR and it has very fast acceleration. I also fly it at very low altitude and usually get the first 2-3 kills.

Other aircraft are simply better, regardless of how well you perform in game the generalisation of the ranking is set by the aircraft individual characteristics
@@ProjectRias If you're rating the aircraft based on speed and armament alone, then sure. The reality is that in Air RB, you're not going to have to deal with energy fighting very often. If you fly low altitude in the GR. 7, you really don't have to worry about IR missiles because you can have 700 reinforced flares lol. If you need to dodge anything, it's also incredibly easy. I think the GR. 7 is better than MOST of the A and B tiers in this list, but not really anything in S. The playstyle is very suited to the current state of Air RB, which is turn fighting at low altitude. Most of my deaths in the thing have been from guns when I have multiple jets on me and no team. The only aspects that the vehicle lacks are an extra two IR missiles, radar missiles, and speed (but acceleration basically negates this). Even against an energy fighting jet, you can often out maneuver them or pull some weird thrust vector maneuver where they'll often just crash.
