What luck, I just found your first polish video last night and now today I get a 2+ year update! I am going to give it a shot on my 1972 C20. My patina is not a near cool as yours, but the faded red/orange paint needs something, and this looks like what I have been looking for. By the way, I love your two fat dogs, the baby cat and your voice. Thanks for the no bs video!
After watching both videos I bought it and did it to mine. I did a little different process I pressure washed all the heavy rust off then polished the whole thing then did 3 coats on the whole truck and 4 more on the hood 11/10 would recommend it.
Awesome! Glad to hear it worked for you! Does yours have more paint on it than this truck? I am getting ready to polish the yellow '70 in the background of this video, but I'm not sure what to do on the crusty areas. Thanks for watching! --Emily
That kitten is living its best life! About to give the old single stage airbrushed areas of my van a similar treatment and stumbled upon this vid. Thanks for the update and sharing such a long term experiment!
Just found your channel my friend because I love c10 pick ups and it looks fabulous just the way it is 💯 I never heard of "Zep" but I'm going to try it out on my truck as well thank you 👍🏼
@@UglyTruckExperience ended up doing it Thursday. Turned out awesome. Ended up using the same truck on one of my motorcycles. Both look so much better.
That's a great question! It is really similar to the Zep, but might be an even lighter finish. I like that this stuff goes on in super light coats. It would be interesting to try! Let us know how it goes! Thanks Tim!!
Thanks William! This truck is really rough, but we have plans for it... Starting with the differential! I'm sure little Pepper will help us with that, too! 😸😸 Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
It was a great day to spend with an old truck! How's your rust repair coming along? Sorry Karla! I didn't know how much "crazy cat lady" I could put in one video before everyone disowned us. 😆 Her name is Pepper! We'll tell the story of how we found her someday... It's pretty fitting for Ugly Truck. 😁😸
Karla was worried it was a stray weened from it's mother to soon. I faught my new welder for a while. Kept having problems with the wire breaking in front of the roller. Got that working good now. Pulled the glass and got some color match paint for cab interior. Hunter surprised us and got involved back stage for a theatre show at school. It's good but let's the truck sit. I will send pics soon
Thanks Gus! I'm sure it would on the wheels too. I think this truck has 4 different wheels on it 😆 so I'd like to find a matching set someday. I might give it a try in the meantime! Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
I’m very curious about how well water beads up off your hand, and how long that lasted? There’s not much plastic on this Chevy, but have you tried the ZEP on any plastic? I’ve never considered using floor polish as a clear coat. Looks awesome! Maybe a video of Jerry in some denim cutoff overalls washing the 70….😅
😆 Yes, my hand was fully waterproofed after this, but it came off with a good scrub. I haven't tried it on any plastic, but I will and report back! We have plenty of junk donor parts to experiment with. 😁 And be careful what you wish for... The 70 desperately needs a wash! 😉
These were on it when I got it, but I think they call them west coast style mirrors. Looks like there are several aftermarket companies that make them. They do look sweet! Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
Yes, there was a layer of white over the top that I was trying to remove. I like the look it has now, so I just don't want to take any more of it off this time around. Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
looks great and im jumping back n forth on doing this to my 76 Jeep J10 preserving the patina, but my bedsides are rusted and the rockers and the fender flairs, and if i fix those which i was going to do via cutting and welding, then bondo etc.. i will have to paint those sections and itll throw off the Jeeps patina... so i think im going to just fix the rust and rattle can paint the Jeep.. i dont want all the rusted out panels like they are.. its ugly and kinda embarassing to drive around in
I hear you... This truck needs some major rust repair to be a driver again, but I don't want to lose the patina look. That was kind of my motivation for trying this patina polish experiment. I knew it would end up being patched and painted someday, so why not try this in the meantime. I checked out your Jeep videos, and it looks like an awesome project! Whatever you decide to do, let us know how it goes! Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
@@UglyTruckExperience if you check me out youll see the work i had to do to my 76 Jeep j10 i rebuilt the entire bed cross members and a new bed floor, floor boards, sections of frame leaf spring and mounts.. it was bad... most ppl woulda looked for a new bed, but like you i wanted to keep the original bed sides that matched the truck... and it worked its all fixed now, but the bedsides themselves just need fixed now
Do I win a prize for pointing out that you where pushing the truck in reverse in the outro? lol...I used Floetrol for enamel and used a foam paintbrush.
I promise I wasn't though! I stuck the Go Pro to the bumper on a stick mount, and that's really a clip of the truck driving from where it was parked for the video. No fancy editing there! But I did trim out the part where I killed it with the clutch and had to restart... 🤣🤫 Thanks for tuning in, Scott!
"Killed it with the clutch" yeah that is where I saw the tires in the grass. Looked like it was in reverse and you stopped it with the clutch. Either way great way to finish a truck. You can also do your floor and it keeps down dust. It will make your floor slicker than Goose Poop if the rain or dew hits it. Ask me how I know😂
The VGG shine juice is TOO EXPENSIVE! You can go to your local paint supply store and get a gallon sprayable for $150 ish and a hobo freight paint gun for $20 bucks and that’s the same clear coat that’s on any car
I haven't even looked at what VGG's Shine Juice costs, I just knew I was too lazy to recoat it that often. 🤣 I did look into spraying it, but it's not worth the $200 investment right now. Looks like I'll be tearing into the differential next! 🙃🙃
Wish that old truck was driving around my yard, looks good.
Thanks Jeff! It's a pretty good old truck. Thanks for watching!

I have been doing it to my truck since I saw your first video . I probably have put at least 10 coats on it now
Awesome! How do you like it? I've been really happy with mine. Thanks for tuning in! --Emily
Such a cool idea!
For people interested you can also use Mop & Glow for a heavy shiny. I’ve used it on smaller objects with great results.
👋👋 Thanks Tony! I never thought about Mop & Glow. How does it hold up outdoors?
Looks awesome because of your videos I just did the same to my old dart turned out awesome
Thanks Andy! That's awesome! What year is your Dart? We have a 73 Swinger! 😁

Thanks Bobby! Hope you made it through the storms!
To take it a step further I wonder how concrete sealer would work 🤔 I have an old truck out back in the weeds I might try it

those back drums were locking up. thar rearend is starting to go. beautiful truck. Love how the Zep looks on it.
Thank you James. You nailed it on the rear end going out. It will be parked until we get a chance to either rebuild it or put another in it. Emily
Nice work
