I'm a Lakers fan and I have so much respect for this Pistons squad. The way they dismantled four hall of famers has to be one of the most impressive Championships of all time. And you gotta love what they did for the city of Detroit, bringing another championship back there.
When Billups hit that half court shot to tie the game in game 5 of the Eastern conference semi-finals he became a basketball god...that went to triple OT, and we ended up losing, but will go down as one of the most intense sporting events I've ever watched.
I was at that game. I was so emotionally drained after it because we all were drinking and we were so hyped up by Chauncey hitting that three and then the letdown of losing was absolutely devastating. I remember not saying a word on the way home.
LOL I can't remember. All I can remember was that Chauncey's 3 and Rasheed's one handed hail Mary 3 from the other side of the back court. Still exciting to watch though.
Still a pistons fan all these years man those say 2003-2007 pistons were fun to watch. been a rough stretch but pistons basketball will be back one day💪
@@ac98521 I was at that third home game...I hate Horry to this day, and still mad at Sheed for not getting his butt over in time to defend that shot lolol. If Horry misses, we would have been back to back champs....dead silence as we start walking out and one big mouthed Spurs fan somewhere was yelling, "I told ya'll!!! I told ya'll!!!" More than likely he prolly had his car trashed and set on fire lol....
I mean they won the year before? That really should have been back to back finals pistons spurs if not for Horry. The both played basketball right and were monsters on defence
I remember watching the Pistons win it all in 04'. That was when I was just getting into basketball and I really appreciate the fact that they were one of the first championship teams I had the privilege of watching. No big name superstars. Just a really committed, defensive-minded team with a bunch of like-minded talented guys. Yes, that that is Rip Hamilton in my pic!
Man, I love Chauncey. He is my favorite player and what got me to name the 2004 Pistons as my all time favorite team. I think the main reason I like Chauncey is because he's not that athletic as a point guard, which means he has to work on his overall basketball skills much more than those who have that gift of athleticism (similar to Steve Nash). All in all, he's Mr. Big Shot, and I look at him as an inspiration towards building up my own skills in basketball.
Pretty cool, met both guys involved in the first highlight. First Robert at Bush airport in Houston a couple Christmas eve's back, and then a few months later at LAX, Chauncey.
This guy is so great. He and Tony parker are always disrespected by the NBA mainstream media. No flashy play, a solid two way player with a clutch gene. Show up on big games, low turnovers, and a great floor general and locker room guy. What is not to like?
Nice Top 10. Mr Big Shot is a HOF in my book. He did it all, pass, score inside and out, defend, lead, succeed at the highest levels, longevity, consistent in the clutch, high basket ball IQ and he's stats are great
I remember when Billups made that shot from near half court. I was 8 (turned 9 a month later) and I was so glad that game was a Saturday, since at that time the only way I would be allowed to stay up for a triple overtime game was if I didn't have school the next day.
Chauncey became a complete point guard with Detroit. The 2004 championship against the Lakers was one of the biggest upsets in sport history. Against heavily favored Shaq, Kobe, Malone, Payton, the Pistons opened their toolbox, and went to work. No one expected them to win, except us Detroiters and that working man's team. The Lakers got one, but it should've been a sweep. It also made Larry Brown the only coach in history to win both the NCAA and NBA crowns. Along with Joe Dumars, Chauncey is my most respected player. They just did the work.
One of my favorites! He was such an underrated point guard! The 04 pistons were such a fucking squad! I remember going to game 4 in the finals that year.
Remember in 2006 when four of detroit's starting five made it to the All-Star game. Billups, Hamilton, Ben and Rasheed Wallace. I'm sure Prince had a shot at making it too. That was impressive.
People say the '04 pistons didn't have any superstars. I say chauncey billups begs to differ, guy was a stud and could take a game over in any way, with defense, catching fire from 3, feeding teammates for easy baskets. This guy was incredible and never got the recognition he deserved
+BOSSDONMAN I know, but I was talking specifically about the 2003-2004 season. This thread brought up the claim that the 2004 Pistons didn't have any superstars when they won the championship. I was merely indicating that the only All-Star on that team for the season was Ben Wallace. No doubt, Billups was a clutch performer. And that Pistons team was deep as illustrated by later All-Star selections. (Okur, Big Ben, Sheed, Billups, Hamilton)
One of the more underrated point guards of all time. He was a great floor general, he could score, he could defend. Definitely a hall of famer.
Ik amazing af
Also Isaiah is too
He was good, but doesn't deserve the Hall of Fame in my opinion. His numbers aren't quite there.
John Lewis yes he does 😂
@@JLewis95 how about his rings. Being the best player on championship teams. He's HOF all the way
Very underrated PG, should be elected to the Hall of Fame in the next decade
Here we are lol
Equals sacrifice and having no fun or nothing
Still not yet
He should fr, he’s a 5 time all star 2 time champ and a finals mvp
Now he is
that '04 pistons team was an absolute dream! First game I ever saw was them against the raptors.
Yes, and begins my basket playing when my kid age, ..hero of mine
Remember when the whole team was All-stars or maybe Rasheed didn't make it or maybe they all did I'm not sure
@@troydixon4425 yeah they all made it and at one point in the game they were all on the floor..
I was a junior in high school, none of us EVER missed a game back then. Can't say we'd be watching too many Pistons games these days though lol...
The 04 pistons need to be a throwback team on 2k :)
They are in 2k16!
+Danny Munoz
No Sheed tho. Smh Idk what 2K was thinking. Put Darko in the starting lineup. lol
They did the same thing with chris webber and the kings in 2k15
Damn. lol You can't leave the best player off the team. That's like making the Showtime Lakers without Magic.
I have to admit, as a die hard Jordan fan, I'm not entirely certain 96 Bulls can take 04 pistons, that was a tough squad.
I'm a Lakers fan and I have so much respect for this Pistons squad. The way they dismantled four hall of famers has to be one of the most impressive Championships of all time. And you gotta love what they did for the city of Detroit, bringing another championship back there.
GONNA MISS THAT GUY!
When Billups hit that half court shot to tie the game in game 5 of the Eastern conference semi-finals he became a basketball god...that went to triple OT, and we ended up losing, but will go down as one of the most intense sporting events I've ever watched.
+hotandready100 that was an amazing series. That was a great championship team too
Oh thx for this history explanation.. what more scene of Billups
hotandready100 The Pistons won that year! they didn't lose
We won the series but we lost the game that he hit the half court shot in.
I was at that game. I was so emotionally drained after it because we all were drinking and we were so hyped up by Chauncey hitting that three and then the letdown of losing was absolutely devastating. I remember not saying a word on the way home.
Definitely one of my favorite players of all time !! 👍🏻
respect. this is from a die hard lakers fan who saw him trash the lakers in 2004. class act guy, brilliant basketball player
That game triple overtime win against Nets instaclassic!
LOL I can't remember. All I can remember was that Chauncey's 3 and Rasheed's one handed hail Mary 3 from the other side of the back court. Still exciting to watch though.
They actually _LOST_ this game 😂😂
As a Laker fan I have to respect Billups. Great all around guard and great leader.
Still a pistons fan all these years man those say 2003-2007 pistons were fun to watch. been a rough stretch but pistons basketball will be back one day💪
Big shot really is that guy and he had grit
HALL OF FAME BOUND!!! thank you Mr. Bigshot. Lots of memories being a fan..
his greatness is underrated
Billups so clutch.
Being from Detroit and watching them as a kid and then now makes me feel so old. Its crazy how watching old highlights are just so fun.
Man that San Antonio series was heartbreaking
Robert Horry Stole that series

I have a lot of respect for this man.. He was my fav player as a kid. Congrats on a successful career
MR BIG SHOT!!!!
Chauncey was and still is one of my favorite players.
Chauncey Billups was definitely the leader of those Pistons squads.
one of the most underrated players
Chauncey is a hall of famer no doubt💯
Not quite.
BIG SHOT BILLUPS! Loved watching him play
A true floor general one of the most underrated point guards of all time

Mr big shot . One of my favorite player
Should be in the Hall Of Fame some day one of the best point guard of the 2000's Chauncey Billups aka Mr. Bigshot.
One of my favorite players ever.
One of my favorite players of all time because he was such a great team player.
Mr. Big Shot I salute you... One of the reason Lebron Struggled to make it out the east early in his career
Mr. Big Shot LEGEND!!!!
thank you for everything that you have done with the NBA. mad respect to mr. big shot
This is first time listening Chauncey Billups it’s his B-Day today so Happy Birthday to him!!!!!🥳🎉🎂 08/25/23

MR. BIG SHOT!!! Thank you for the old times.
Grew up watching this guy and im frm detroit!! This guy was cold blooded lol future hall of famer no doubt
GENERAL BILLUPS!!! ONE OF MY FAVS
I'll forever miss having this man on the Nuggets.
Detroit hero!

Now the question is, is he a hall of famer?
Nah, great career but not a HOF career
He'll yes he is! 150% I guarantee you he will be a hall of famer
He is but everyone will forget who he is in 10 years
Jamie Martinez hes going into the hall of fame
Anyone can make it in the hof ..
It's crazy that my math teacher taught Chauncey Billups back when he was in highschool

Glad I got to witness Billups in his prime true floor leader two way point guard deserves the hall of fame
This dude made me enjoy basketball!
a great true point guard. he can easily make a disfunctional team work. iff billups is in this current cavs team their definitely going to be favs
SUCH AN AMAZING PLAYER ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES!! SO UNDERRATED SUCH A BEAST HOF FOR SURE LED THE PISTONS TO LIKE 7 STRAIGHT CONFERENCE FINALS!
"Mr. Big Shot" - I grew up in Michigan and man did the state have love for that 04 Pistons squad. There was such a dismal feeling when they split up.
10-11 year old Kobe fans: "Who's Chauncey Billups?"
Don't you mean LeBron? I don't even think they would know who Kobe is, nigga
Jay Bryant Was that "nigga" at the end of that sentence really necessary?
Nathan Masters It really was, your ancestors should know why that word was created and still being used to this day. Master Nathan Masters
Jay Bryant I'm British not American, Master Jay Bryant
wanna make out? I'll let you whip me and pick the cotton just like the old days
Mr Big Shot....
CHAUNCHEYYYYYYY B B B BILLUPS!!!!! tnx 4 the memories!
THE BEST I EVER SEEN
Welcome to Ripcity!
Hella underrated. Dude was a BEAST.
He was clutch
Damn! This is a sick top 10
One of the most underrated players to ever play the game.
One of my favorites! He was such an underrated point guard! The 04 pistons were such a fucking squad! I remember going to game 4 in the finals that year.
Mr. Big Shot was that man...so under appreciated...Class A ball player and individual 👌
Billups was just ahead of his time, most point guards in that era are pass first.
He was better with Detroit then denver
Only because he won a championship with Detroit but I think he was also as good with Denver like he was in Detroit
+True Nuggets Fan 6 consecutive ECF and 2 Finals with 1 Championship. Not even close. His prime was in Detroit, although he was good in Denver.
Ahmad Khan I have to agree on you.
why do most american's use "then" instead of "than" ?
+joshua del valle some people just don't pay attention in school, not an American thing
Chauncey had the best tmac shoes & tht Denver team should’ve went way further
One of my favorite players of all time
That step back was always nasty work!!
Remember in 2006 when four of detroit's starting five made it to the All-Star game. Billups, Hamilton, Ben and Rasheed Wallace. I'm sure Prince had a shot at making it too. That was impressive.
If The Pearl and let alone Calvin Murphy can make the hall of fame, Chauncey deserves a spot.
My BOY!!! Chauncey Bbbbbbillups! Mr. Big Shot will defiantly make the HOF and #1 must have been crazy to be at the game.
Chauncey was always one of my favorite players. Never felt like he got the credit he deserved lol
Great career would have loved to see Rich and Chauncey together one last time
Respect...solid player
I was a freshman in high school in 2004..seeing this team, iverson, t mac, Vince all in their prime..dang i was lucky

GREAT PLAYER! UNDERRATED PG
The most underrated player of the last 10 years
He was CRAFTY AND FUNDAMENTAL. Solid Point Guard.
As a teenager I loved underdogs and dark horses, Billups was one of my hero, such a cool guy
He was a complete PG..respect!!
Ice Cold Chauncey Billups💯💯
As a blazer fan, didn’t know he had more than defensive game. His caliber of play is what Portland can use in a coach.
Who's here after his HOF induction
BEEN TO 7 STRAIGHT CONFERENCE FINALS & WAS THE 2004 FINALS MVP #underrated

It's because he never played the selfish hero ball that most superstars nowadays do. He also didn't have the best statistics as a result.
The only All-Stars they had at the time were the two Wallaces, and Ben was the only Piston who made the All-Star team during the 2003-2004 season.
DonKrieg95 The '06 Pistons had 4 all-stars.
