And now Ginger Baker.
Supergroup Cream drummer
Preceded by Jack Bruce bassist by 2 yrs.
RIP Gentlemen
Once I lost my dad anything seems possible. 🌹 rip Ben & ric
I didnt really realize how beautiful their music was ❤
I love The Cars so much.....RIP Benjamin Orr and RIck Okasek....Since your gone....I've thrown it all away...the Moonlight ain't so great .......
I'm so happy after all these years that they will finally get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A long overdue recognition that is all the more sad because Ben isn't here to receive it, in his hometown Cleveland. We'll all be celebrating with Ric, Elliot, Greg, Dave and Ben the greatness that was and is THE CARS!!!
I love how each one of them is dressed here. They're such individuals. Yet their musical cohesion flows like a well-oiled machine! :)
Thats one of the fun things I love about music. It brings such an eclectic mix of individual together in the name of music. Whoot!~
Thanks for all the wonderful music, Ric. R.I.P.
These boys always sounded better live ,than on the records.
Such a original, quirky sound on this track, and dont you just love the band in black, with ric the focal point with the loud suit.
A great look,and a great sound.
Huh? The sound on their records was incredible
This song is hauntingly beautiful, and Elliot Easton was the bands secret weapon, a 4 yr Berklee (same school I attended) grad who truly can play guitar. R.I.P Ric and Ben, ty for giving us such great music. 👍
The Cars are literally the essence of cool
facts
i just want to go back to that time! Life was so cool, and the Cars were so Hot!
Was thinking the same thing. Ah, to go back. Youth.
It was a great time in life if you were a young adult finishing high school when their first album came out. I remember going to these late night beach parties with the Cars blasting from our stereos as we drank cold beer around a huge bonfire.
Rock on in Heaven Rick, you have plenty of good company to hang with! Thanks for all you have given us!!
The Cars are the biggest "I wish I had seen them before it's too late" band of all time for me. Without Ric or Ben, it would never be the same.
Damn I haven’t seen this since I saw the original show c early 80s…on a little black and white teevee…they were great. Played most of ‘Shake It Up’…Devo and the Blasters too…Fridays had some monster bands!
Benjamin Orr..unsung bass hero
RIP Benny, I love ya and ya know that.....But I don't care how many likes you've gotten ktmpl...Of all of the Bass players in, Oh, so many bands, Benny wouldn't even be on the top 20 list....I'm sorry he's gone, but that's no reason to give someone such high accolades for being a bass HERO......Sorry!
ktmpl he was my fav bass player
@@foofoobear66 Indeed. he was so underrated as a bassist and a singer. RIP Ben. you bring back so many memories
Benjamin Orr *always* found creative ways to make his lines interesting and surprising. He “served the song” beautifully.
wonderful musician, sorry he's gone. But does anyone here notice he looks a bit like young Christopher Walken?
Ric Ocasek & Benjamín Orr #legends
Dont forget Elliot Easton on guitar
So true
Greg Hawkes gave The Cars their unique sound. Without him, it would not have been nearly the same. Peace and love, Greg! ✌️
Very true one of the most talented and underrated bands ever. Music nowadays is just garbage. Thank god for all the music made in my generation
Every song....the lyrics, guitar, keyboards, drums, all together are an assemblage of unique and original music. Each song is a collective masterpiece....
Coolest band those were the days always miss the 80s
I saw these gents live at the Rosemont Horizon stadium in Illinois in high school in '83 or '84. I need to look back and savor my saved ticket. Back then, they were so on fire. Everything they played was nostalgia in the making.
Yes, I wish I had seen The Cars live as I was quite the fan. Still am. I did, however, see Duran Duran at the Rosemont Horizon in April of 1984. Great concert.
Now it's the allcrap arena😄
I was there, too! Nick Lowe opened. 2/13/82
I saw the Stones at the Rosemont in 81
Miles Davis was asked during an interview if and what rock he liked, and he said "Cars are cool".....
Great story. Didn't know that.
Не знал этого.
Do you have a link or source for that? I'd like to use it, but I need a source.
@@rebeccastevens1876 It was a while ago. It was either a Rolling Stone or Playboy interview...
He was also an incredible racist who said he'd like to spend his last few seconds on this earth killing a white man.
I remember watching this in the early 80's at my neighbors house on a Friday night. Fell in love with the Cars then and it's been a great ride all these years. RIP Ben & Ric. 🚗🚗🚗🚗🚗
The cars were so unique, original and utterly awesome!! RIP RIc and Ben!!!
Some bands just are a soundtrack of a genre of a persons life, for me The Cars were a life changing soundtrack as I went from kid to cool young teenager in 7th and 8th grade and I remember my girl so vividly the summer in between my 7th and 8th grade year, it was like 81/82 ish. To this day we are still friends and to this day if a Cars song pop's on the radio either I will text her or she will text me. What a time it was. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world..
Hawkes on the clap track..by hand… and playing other lines on keys. Music!
Elliott Easton - underrated badass virtuoso.
Greg Winston Bret Easton Ellis overrated author.
I can't believe you're gone. Rest in peace, thank you for the great music and memories.
R.I.P ric your songs will always be a part of my life thank you
philip beck 👍👍👍
Merging the 50's and 80s so effortlessly. Shoutout Ric for those classic chords
The Cars are still awesome. Miss Rick and Ben.
I've been to several hundred concerts since 1980, but sadly, I was never fortunate enough to have seen The Cars perform live!! I love their music, and they were definitely ahead of their time! Rest in peace Ric and Ben...we love you both, and the other members of the legendary band THE CARS! You'll never be forgotten.
Going to miss you, Mr. Ocasek...since you're gone. :(
Now 2 of them are gone. Great band and I have many great memories tied to their music.
It's hard to think about acts this chill and confident during slow, groove-focused songs like this one. This band really was unique, so well balanced and professional.
I'm glad I discovered them recently.
Fridays was ABC's short lived take on Saturday Night LIve in 1980. I saw and taped this performance. Love this
Excellent , loved that show
Considering the 80-81 season might be the most forgettable season (the first post Lorne Michaels season, with Gilbert Gottfried and Charles Rocket part of the cast), Fridays actually had a better show for a time. Then NBC realized what Eddie Murphy could do and the show was revived.
They were so young & "innocent" - we all were. The good ole days. I remember skating to this song at Skateland, Petersburg, Virginia.
We had a Skateland in Jax Fla. Hope yours was a much fun and full of memories as ours...Grew up at Skateland and all kindsof Great Music...!!! Those were the daze...!?!
@@darrylcole7869 Oh yes it was a blast ! Skating rinks are a dying breed. We still have a 'Roller Dome' in Sandston, VA.
There's a 2019 documentary movie called 'United Skates about the last skating rinks in the U S. Highly recommend.
Takes you down memory lane. Bittersweet ! ✌😎
Since you're gone...I took the big vacation!! Rest in peace, Ric!!
These guys were off the charts awesome!
I miss them👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I remember watching this on a little Black and White TV in my room sneaking staying up late live, what a great time, still one of my favorite songs
A voice like no other, thank you Ric may you Rest In Peace.
The 2 most unique, distinct vocalists, imo!
Rest in Peace Ric! Loved your voice and will continue to listen to the Cars!
They opened with this song when I saw them in concert in '81ish in L.A. One of the few bands who sounded even better live. One of my favorite songs of theirs is Bye Bye Love. Ben killed it on that song with his superb vocals and in his Gaucho outfit and hat. I've always loved these guys. RIP Ben and Ric.
Oh my, forgot about this awesome live performance!! What a great band in their day. My regret did not see them live...
RIP Ric you were a big part of my youth.
One of the most under rated bands of ALL time and so far ahead of their time.
For those that love them, good on ya, for those that don't, your loss.
Reminiscent to the Doors a little over a decade before them in regards to uniqueness & bucking the trend.
Remember listening to the Cars, age 8,love them forever.in my memories growing up in the 70s..I'm 47...🤘🌵🖤
Rip Ric thank you for all the great music I will listen to your music all the rest of my days thank you so much Rip.
wow again...don't think the 80's would of happened without these guys...so fresh
One of the best intro beats & melodies to a song ever
what a sound...the coolest
A big part of my teenage world, the cars were superb and I still have those albums now.
The Cars were the most underrated Rock n Roll band. They are creative, fantastic musicians. I loved them back when they first played. A d now that I'm in my 70s I still love them and their unique sound and hits. Long live the Cars memories and all the years they entertained their fans. God bless them and RIP the ones who have left us..😂🎉😅😊❤
nobodys cool like Ric Ocasek in sunglasses and a mint green suit
What about me with my 3d glasses on? 😎 LOL Just kidding. :-)
Playing a Dean Cadillac
And marrying a supermodel. He was the new wave man.
Suit looks blue.
I saw them live in '84. He was very cool. A bit distant, but in an artsy, cool way
