Hank Shteamer interviewing Chad Smith was interesting. When I watched some clips of Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. I was so impressed and would have loved to be there, at the Acropolis to cheer and screen like the rest of the crowd.
There're iconic landmarks around the world, but iconic landmarks like the Athens Acropolis with a 2,000yo venue of unseen acoustics right next to them, it wont be easy to find, if there is any... Yeah, I know there're landmarks of equal importance, like... like... like... there are... I just had some beers and cant remember right now. But oh, did I mentioned that UNESCO logo --> the Parthenon. Surely you know so many of these architectural influences, like the United States Capitol or the US Supreme Court Building or the Lincoln Memorial, but did you know this: Rolls Royce front grille --> the Parthenon. The Brits they indeed adored the Parthenon so much, that one daark night 200 years ago during the last years of the Ottoman occupation of Greece, they quietly used sledgehammers, crowbars and steel saws (the Turks right next to the Parthenon never woke up curiously - probably additionally to the quietness of the Brits, the Turks used some Queens for earmuffs - best earmuffs ever), they stole its artifacts and to this day the British Museum refuses to give them back. OK, ok... I'll stop whining, let's see the bright side: the Brits missed Herodion Theatre and the Greeks got to see great bands like the Foo Fighters perfoming there. Damn, these Greeks are so ungrateful, right?! : )
I saw Royal Blood and Quotsa perform this week. Guess which performance was jaw dropping under every single aspect and which band looked like talented apprentices? If that´s called dad rock so be it. I´m in.
That´s what is always said about the taste in music of the successor generation´s. Thats what my granddad who loved 40s swing said about his kids who listened to the Beatles, Rolling Stones and David Bowie. Maybe that is what even Leopold Mozart said about his son´s music. My parents moaned and lamented about my abysmal taste in music when i was a teenager listening to Depeche Mode, The Cure, Meteors and Beastie Boys. But i also listened to a lot of shitty mainstream back then and i really don´t think that 80s mainstream was signifact better than todays. It is just nostalgia that makes that impression. Besides there are some great musicians even in todays mainstream.
Really wanting to see one more tour Foo Fighters & RHCP...
