Went to a Billy Joel concert at msg with my 12 year old son. We had floor seats but we were 30 plus rows out. Taylor and his wife sat next to us. Actually we all stood the whole time. I didn’t bother him other then at the end to say I’m huge fan. He shook my hand n my sons. Couldn’t have been any cooler and zero ego considering who he was. Always will remember that.

I remember watching this back in the day. I was like 13 and starting to play drums myself and I thought "wow, I can live in a house like that if I become a famous drummer!" I didn't make it, but I still play everyday so it's all good. RIP Taylor, one of the greatest.

First of all, he was a husband and father to three kids. I cant stop thinking about his poor kids when I watch him. Every time the loving parent dies its a tragedy and pain that stays with kids forever.

I saw the Foos in 2002 at the Reading Fest near the start of Taylor and Dave's great adventure. Nearly took my face off with their energy and raw power that day. Thanks for the memories. R I P T!

That’s so true. I have 2 friends that are more like my sisters. I’ve known one since she walked me up to school in the first grade in 1977 and the other since 2000. We met because our husbands worked together and we ended up going to a NIN concert. I would be devastated to lose either one. Just typing that out makes me nervous. I feel so awful for Dave. 😓🖤

i got to meet taylor outside my studio building a few weeks before the Rush hall of fame induction and had a great convo where he was very encouraging and even asked me about myself and my music which was shocking and we nerded over rush and then i got to hear him rehearse 2112 in a studio just a few rooms down the hall from mine...one of the best memories of my life
In all of the interviews and videos I have seen throughout the mid 90s till now Taylor has remained the same. He is the laid back chill dude who doesn't have to be in the center of the light. Thankful that we have so much to look back and remember Taylor. May God lay his hands on Taylor's family and Dave the band plays all the fans.

It's sad when anyone dies but I really started following Taylor a few months ago. So it feels worse. I loved his energy and style. My heart goes out to his family and friends. His house is beautiful. The world truly lost a gentle soul. He was only 3 years older than me.

Sadly, I have not been able to see them live; was always hoping I’d get the chance…and after reading several posts about the deep regret of not seeing the FFs live, may I offer a possible solution? If - and that’s a HUGE “if” - the rest of the band wish to perform a memorial show* of some sort, I think it would be great to attend such an event. All of us getting together for a common good and having the chance to grieve with the FFs and the other fans in attendance could be a very healing idea. Music pulls us together and lifts us up. If they decide to do such a thing, I would love to go. What do you all think? *Yes, I realize the FFs have canceled all remaining shows of their current tour.

An old interview video is going around again from years ago where Dave & Taylor were on Howard sterns show & Dave was saying he would NEVER kick Taylor out of foo fighters… he was so sure of it he promised Howard $25,000 if it ever happened. Dave knew Taylor is part of what made FF so special. It’s like axl trying to continue GNR without slash & duff, blink 182 trying to replace Tom DeLonge, & a hundred other bands that try to go on without one of the key players. It’s just not the same. The magic isn’t there & everyone can feel it. 😢

Ah yes, MTV Cribs, got caught renting mansions/cars for 1 hit wonder rappers to pose in. Meanwhile, one of the biggest rock stars in the world lives in a relatively normal looking house (hell of a view and pool though).
Hawkins had only been in the band for a few years by the time this was filmed, he was still newly rich. He was barely making royalties from TINLTL since he only played on half of it and One By One hadn't even come out yet.
Was lucky to see them five years ago with this man still with us my idle always will be lucky to have name my son after him xxx can’t wait till this year December 2 to see them again
I've always shied away from acrylic drums because I *thought* he mentioned how he'd bought an acrylic kit and they sounded terrible. Turns out I've misremembered his Stewart Copland look-alike kit for who knows how many years. Thank God, because I impulsively bought a beautiful clear acrylic DW 5-piece two years ago, and with new heads and very thorough tuning instructions, they sound better than I ever could have imagined. I don't have kids, but if I did I would 100% love my kit more than my own child. Keep those BPMs coming, Taylor, wherever you are. (Probably pestering Bonham for pointers and trying to work out a time to jam that works for both himself and Hendrix.)

I've always shied away from acrylic drums because I *thought* he mentioned how he'd bought an acrylic kit and they sounded terrible.
Turns out I've misremembered his Stewart Copland look-alike kit for who knows how many years.
Thank God, because I impulsively bought a beautiful clear acrylic DW 5-piece two years ago, and with new heads and very thorough tuning instructions, they sound better than I ever could have imagined. I don't have kids, but if I did I would 100% love my kit more than my own child.
Keep those BPMs coming, Taylor, wherever you are. (Probably pestering Bonham for pointers and trying to work out a time to jam that works for both himself and Hendrix.)
