- You know what they say: when all else fails, talk about VeggieTales.
That rhyme was unintentional, but I'm standing by it.

Ben: I'm not going to do a video on LarryBoy and the Bad Apple GBA version.
Also Ben:
"What does she have to gain by capturing Bob the Tomato?!"
A good quote if I've ever heard one.
Mabey to take over the show?
Saying it out of context is just so good.
Making ketchup?
Then there wouldnt be a intro
I'm totally okay with this entire channel eventually turning into a Veggietales themed channel.
I'd be 100% down for that
That wold be interesting.
Same here..... Mabey you can do a Livestream of the games in the future if you want to do more Veggie Tales content.
I'm more than down
As someone who grew up on VeggieTales I appreciate the Oddly Specific VeggieTales References. Good job.
same. it also makes a lot of sense to do so since VeggieTales loved making odd references to a lot of things itself like 3 dog knights and abbot and costello just to name 2 examples from an episode mavy referenced
Same here
Same
I’ve just been binging VeggieTales during quarantine out of boredom (and nostalgia because I ADORED this series as a child (still do!)), and I understood every oddly specific VeggieTales reference you made! 😆
Reference #1: “Given LarryBoy nearly died twice as a result of Junior’s actions, this is a valid response on Alfred’s part.”
Explanation: LarryBoy was almost eaten alive by Fib in “Larry-Boy! And The Fib From Outer Space!” & was nearly beaten to death by Rumor Weed in “Larry-Boy And The Rumor Weed.”
Reference #2: “I’m starting to see why Alfred said Junior being spotted was disturbing news. It looks like he’s having a flashback to the pie war.”
Explanation: In the episode titled “King George and the Ducky,” King George (Larry) sends Thomas (Junior) to a pie war, in hopes he will be killed, so he can get Thomas’ rubber ducky. Fun fact: this episode is a retelling of the Bible story, “David and Bathsheba…” I’m still wondering what Big Idea was thinking when they made that episode. 😆
Reference #3: “…The Water Buffalo Song, the grandfather of Silly Songs. The one that started the whole thing.”
Explanation: The Water Buffalo Song was the first “Silly Song with Larry,” a segment in VeggieTales, normally in between episode segments or after a cliffhanger in an episode, where Larry sings a silly song (quite self explanatory 😅). It’s also a reference to a line that Pa Grape says in the episode, “The Ultimate Silly Song Countdown.”
Reference #4: “…Bob The Tomato, whose temptation is… food? Bit of an odd choice for Bob’s temptation, given we already have two VeggieTales characters with a thing for eating.”
Explanation: The two characters are brothers named Jimmy & Jerry Gourd. Pretty much their only character trait is that they love to eat food. 😆
Reference #5: “Oh hey! A Stuff-Mart reference! Cute.”
Explanation: The Stuff-Mart is a shopping mall that first appeared in the episode, “Madame Blueberry.”
Reference #6: “…but that ain’t gonna stop the purple and yellow, super fellow!”
Explanation: “Purple and yellow, super fellow” is part of a lyric from the (SUPER catchy) LarryBoy theme song, from “Larry-Boy! And The Fib From Outer Space!”
I would love to see more VeggieTales videos from you, Black Mage Maverick. Maybe one on the series itself and maybe the theatrical movies? I wouldn’t make your whole channel VeggieTales related though… there’s already a couple of those.

How can shoes exist in a universe where the characters don't even have legs
Or hands too.
Shoes are collectors items I suppose.
To be fair, Larry Boy would still look more convincing than Superman’s mouth in Justice League.
You mean Josstice league. Justice league comes out next year.
I believe the Mushroom character is from Larry-Boy & the Rumor Weed. Said episode had a bunch of newly designed characters (ex. Chili pepper, pumpkin, Larry's nephew, Mayor Blueberry's niece/daughter) before they ended up getting replaced by just having carrots and peas ever since Jonah.
i heard there are teenagers inside him that know karate
I'm still waiting on that Veggietales DC crossover, let's make it happen
I loved the oddly specific VeggieTales reference counter! 😂
To be honest, that flying sprite could work as a livestream emote.
You say "Larry Boy," I say "LarryPog"
...
I'll leave now.
Just a request and a Twitch channel away for that to become reality
Pyronic3z I might have to steal that idea for my Discord server. Long live LarryPog.
I raised an eyebrow when he mentioned the moral about overcoming temptation with the power of God and those close to you, but then I remembered "Oh yeah, Veggie Tales. That's kinda the point."
Fun fact, veggietales did a parody of justice league, called league of incredible vegetables.
I love that you're using Pokémon music at 6:01. The DS games' soundtracks are fantastic!
Specifically Snowpoint.
The #6 Runaway Guys Fan and like 90% of the BW/B2W2 themes as well
Whenever I try to play them nowadays I spend longer than normal in each area to just listen to the music. Especially the Pokémon Platinum game I have.
I'm a Larry-Go-Round.
I think you might be the only UA-camr who's mentioned Veggietales ever. Even reviewing the games (that I did not know exitsed until your reviews) I like it. 👍
And of course, some months earlier there was Microwave Society.
@@ilikecurry2345 the heck is freaking Microwave Society?
@@Bowser6495 It’s a UA-cam channel. Three guys named Josiah, Jude, and Bren do commentary on ‘90s & early 2000s movies. They’ve made commentary on four shows/movies Big Idea has made: Lord of the Beans, Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, 3-2-1 Penguins, and the first two LarryBoy episodes. They’re pretty funny videos and it’s a pretty great channel. I definitely recommend it. 😊
@@maceyirene ok
Ahhh, I love these hidden gem channels
Why would Laura need flip-flops? She's a CARROT.
Same reason the Fib from Outer Space said "break a leg".
There's no hero quite like LarryBoy.
Me when I see this thumbnail.
Me: Killllll meeeee.
I haven't watched VeggieTales (I'm not even a Christian), but I gotta say that the Bad Apple's scheme being themed after temptations is very clever, considering the Christian story of Adam and Eve.
Though her having robotic spider legs just for the "webs of temptation" pun to work out is a bit weird, considering spiders have nothing to do with apples.
Not enough vegetables getting slapped with a fish. 0/10
Wait What?
@@spongefan155 Jonah, I believe
this video made memories of me playing this as a child pop back into my head
Larry boy : says he's "quite the gamer"
Me : flashbacks
Flashback Bowser : i am Bowser, gamer without compare
Two platformer games I liked are licensed Garfield games. Those being the Sega Genesis Classic Garfield: Caught in the Act, and it's expansion released for the Sega CD, Sega Channel, and PC Garfield: The Lost Levels which is simply Garfield: Caught in the Act with two extra worlds that were cut from the Genesis release of Garfield: Caught in the Act. And Garfield: Lasagna World Tour a platformer for the PS2 it's the sequel to Garfield: Saving Arlene, now fun fact there were three Garfield games released for the PS2 those being Garfield, Garfield: Saving Arlene, and Garfield: Lasagna World Tour oddly enough Garfield: Lasagna World Tour was the only one given a release in the US as Garfield, and Garfield: Saving Arlene were PAL Exclusive. Anyway best way to describe Garfield: Lasagna World Tour is it has good ideas but falls short with some of them.
Someone watched eruption's latest video, eh
Like if y’all think he should just review all the Larryboy stories (All the normal episodes + the cartoon episodes).
Or at least maybe his best and worst VT episodes?
As someone who actually liked Mario vs. Donkey Kong, I feel compelled to play this game now.
I literally watched the 2 seconds of the gameplay footage and yelled ITS [MARIO VS] DONKEY KONG!
Use to play this one all the time as a kid .
You just had to hit me in the nostalgia harder, huh?
Awesome review bro, loved the old Veggie Tales references, I too grew up with the old version, and it was good, your reaction to Juniors model was awesome, the songs do look boring but make sense why it's in ur because... Well veggie tales and songs kind of go together, the fact you showed the Bob the tomato meme picture was awesome... And I loved your coughing Joke with what's going on, got to cheer people up about this whole thing am I right? And yes, when you showed the GBA version briefly in the PS2 review, the graphics made me think of that Mario game also.
Your reaction the the final mini game being pong was cool, my reaction too... Though now that I think about it for a kid it can really be Exilirating having there final test being a very old game that to then would take awhile to master.... My opinion.... And ya Bobs temptation being food..... Ya why that any way? They could have used Jimmy or Goard for this Scinerio instead of Bob... Eh oh well.
All and all its a good review and ya see if you can talk about veggie Tales more, it's a fun time every time... Well see ya bro, God bless.
P. S. I never played that PC flash game of Larry boy but I've heard of it and now that you mentioned it... Ya I wish I could play it too.... Wait what was the thing you mentioned, "The Way Back" Was it?... What is it and what does it do I never heard of it except for that time machine from the film Mr. Peabody and Sherman.
As a fellow gamer who grew up watching Veggietales, I grew up playing both Larryboy games and beating both of them. Also, to help with your search of more Veggietales games, might I suggest either Veggietales Dance Dance Dance for the PC, A DDR style game with various songs from the show.
If you can't find any more Veggietales games, you could review some of the movies, like the Jonah one.
I questioned the food thing with bob the tomato as well I also thought why didn’t they use jimmy or jerry
I recommend Mystery of veggie island on the pc. I remember playing and loving it as a kid
Ah, so that's what I remember playing on the PC with Junior Asparagus and the fat old pickle.
Bro new sub I am in the same boat as you when it comes to this show and idk that A ps2 game and a GBA game was real i kinda want to play them for my video game review show lol anyway keep making good stuff 😀
VeggieTales has some great tales. Also Larryboy for the Avengers
He's the only one who can defeat Thanos (I know it's like way past that now but still)
As someone who has watched a lot of Veggietales myself, I can safely say that "I understood those references."
You actually can skip the piano stages if you fail them, found that out on accident
Huh. Good to know.
Growing up watching veggietales I will likely get a lot of the oddly specific references
Edit: yup, got all of em
I got the game for less then 9 Bucks just yesterday? And I actually really like it. One of my favorite games on the system in my (admittedly small) library.
I...I understood each and every one of those references...
It is cool that you have been posting more often, what did you change to do this?
Would you play a Veggietales JRPG?
Not if it was the guy who suggested a Diddy Kong Racing sequel with every single character who has ever appeared in any Japanese animated media ever. Even the poopy ones.
The oddly specific references.
Me: I understood that reference
Do you think you'll review Minnesota cuke eventually?
You should review the Veggie Carnival game!
If you want another Veggietales game to talk about, there's the PC game "Minnesota Cuke and the Coconut Apes." Had that game, and it's pretty good, though there was one or two letters I was never able to find, so I never got 100% on it.
There's a VeggieTales game on PC, but all I remember was that it took place in some manor with the fat old pickle whose morality seems to vary from episode to episode.
In Lord of the Beans, he's named Randolph and helps Junior Asparagus, but in the chocolate bunny episode, he's encouraging temptation and mob mentality or some such.
ROCK ON LARRYBOY!
Larrypog
PLZ MORE VEGGIETALES CONTENT
ah a fellow veggitales lover.
Veggie Tales for the win!!!!
I mean if anyone would flashback Maverick, it'd be Junior...he was on the front lines due to King George after all.
As another guy who also grew up in a Christian household with VeggieTales, I wish we got more console Veggie games lol
My mother loves VeggieTales too. She especially used to take delight in singing some of the Silly Songs, especially the one about a hairbrush.
Larry boy looks soooooooooo cute in GBA form.
What is your favorite VeggieTales episode?
2 Recommendations:
Banjo & Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts and Skylanders: Superchargers.
Why?
A. They are both 3D platformers mixed with racing elements.
B. I like seeing people talk about bad games on the internet.
That's The 1 Wii Skylanders Game I'm Missing
I thought the gba in the thumbnail was a wii remote lol.
Low key liked this game :3
I too grew up in a christian household and watched some of the shows, but despite that, I've only ever played one game. That being Minnesota Cuke and the Coconut Apes. Good times.
Have you guys noticed that whenever LarryBoy goes into a pipe, the icon for Larry kinda looks like a PogChamp face?
i rememeber there being a fun minisota cuke platformer i played as a kid. i wonder ifthat stil holds. cant find it for the life of me
You talking about "Minnesota Cuke and the Coconut Apes"? I had that game as well! Never got 100% on it, as there were 1 or two letters I was never able to find.
@@TheWispGuy yeah that one. i dont remember if i ever got 100%. i doubt i did
I had the same kind of situation were I would imagine sonic teaming up with the powerpuff girls and goku
Wonder what was his favorite episode of veggietales
the pie war is junior's nam
Black Mage Mavrick do you think you can please review a nicktoons crossover game sometime
Larryboy The Movie who's with me
So this game wasnt just my imagjnation

Hey I don't blame you for thinking that the Justice League would team up with larry boy I always wanted the powerpuff girls to team up with sonic the hedgehog so you're not alone
Honestly the game kinda reminds me of the Klonoa GBA games.
I'd be down to see Larry boy meets justice league. Might help dc....
It's weird. I grew up Christian as well yet never really watched Veggietales. I knew of it thanks to my Youth Group showing it, but never watched it. Maybe those VHS fees added up over time :)
VHS Fees?
@@spongefan155 Blockbuster rental fees, and the replacement fees should the tape get lost. They were not cheap.
@@JakeJakers Oh I Never Knew Cause I Got Tø Go To Blockbuster Instead I Just Used VHSs At Home
I never even heard of this cartoon is it any good worth watching?
Oh definitely, it's a solid series.
Or at least, the older stuff was. Started to lower in quality around 2009 or so.
Black Mage Maverick ok then I check it out and watch a first few episodes of it
I'm from Germany so I never watched VeggieTales. What do they eat?
People :D
Nah, no idea either, never saw this cartoon apart in UA-cam poops, lol
I've had fun with the game as a kid, and I agree that the piano levels aren't that fun, and much prefer the main platforming levels and boss battles to them.
Which version do you prefer
I preferred the PS2 version overall.
@@BenjaMage why wasn't the gba version on DS? Considering the DS came out on 2005 it would only make sense to put it on DS

BTW i've never watched veggietales im a modern kid
Ok first ps2 now gba this is weird
The PS2 version is way better than this. The GBA version is just way too short and not like the movie.
