Japan aren't bad at rugby. Bit of a downswing over the last world cup cycle, but they'll give any team in the world a decent game. After a disappointing world cup they're currently ranked world #12 which is the lowest of the "tier 1" nations. (world cup results have 2x the effect on rankings)

    The ending confused me.
"MLB is the end goal for the best Japanese players" and "Japan is the best baseball country in the world".
If it's the best, then why is the goal to leave? It can't be the best if their players are fleeing to a better place.

Shohei Ohtani has a 700mil contract that's only possible in the U.S. because of the obscene amount of money sports brings in here.

It may be that America is the origin of baseball, therefore making it the stage they want to stand on as professionals.
Another possibility is in the video itself, where, perhaps in conjunction with MLB being the supposed heart of baseball as its origin, Japan still views its own league as being like the little league compared to MLB
These are both just baseless speculation though, so don't take my word on it

It's a prestige thing. Baseball, American Football, and Hockey all have the most money behind it in the US not just in the sense of player contracts but in advertising, training, etc.
The same thing applies to all these all time great soccer players leaving coming from South and Central America but going to play in the major US and EU leagues.

I just want you to think for a second.
This is the mindset Japan takes to baseball. They took this mindset from their mindset towards military stuff.
IMAGINE FIGHTING A WAR AGAINST THESE PEOPLE. They would literally die before they'd give up on winning.

My favorite thing about this was Coney repeatedly talking about Japan not winning, and then the thing about the US "usually winning" even though at the World Baseball Classic... Japan beat the US LOL
