Hey brother, long time viewer never commented, but just wanna take the time to let you know that your videos reignited my passion in chess that I had lost as a child, and you’ve inspired me to start playing again. Ty goat
I started watching and had no idea chess was actually really fun. I don't play often, choosing to instead watch high level chess whilst going "mmmhm yes I see"😂. But from the few games I've played I got to almost 1000 which is cool
I found myself rooting for stockfish somehow. There's something about a character that sticks to their ideals no matter what random misfortune befalls them that's really appealing.
What Levy does really well - and why I personally believe he's so big - is that he's a master storyteller Anyone can name chess moves. Any elite chess player can break down chess games (and there are tons of channels that do this). But it takes an elite storyteller to take chess games and make it into a storyline that engages even the casual viewer. It's why he's also a great play-by-play / color commentator in chess tournaments. Storytelling is king, no matter what sport or medium - and Levy is the best in the business
@@JOHNTIM212 If they are only allowed to play legal moves then stockfish will wipe the floor with me, the illegal moves are the only thing making this interesting and close
What a roller coaster. The hope of an underdog story, the rage and confusion that I felt watching SnapChat pull from his graveyard, the realization that Stockfish is actually the anti-hero that everyone roots for, and the elation when Snapchat met its comeuppance. What an awesome video! Thanks for all you do and all your hard work Levy!!
I don't think in this series anyone will root for stockfish 😅. Because it's not the underdog it's the supreme reigning entity that needs to be stopped 😂

Exactly. I like how the Snapchat bot made an illegal move right out of the gate but there was seemingly no mechanic for it to be corrected or undone. Just "Yep, his knight is there now." and they just went on like nothing happened. Lol
Snapchat: "I activate POT OF GREED! This lets me draw three additional pieces from my deck!" *slaps the bishop down on c1* Stockfish: "Thats not what it does!" Snapchat: "Then, I tap a water and two colorless pawns to activate (*rapidly searching the entire Magic: The Gathering card list*) uhhh, Copy Enchantment, to have my king copy the ability of the knight and attack your queen!" Stockfish: "But there's no knights on the battlefield for you to copy..." Snapchat: "NAY GOOD SIR! All of your pieces have donned armor clad in the darkness of night, making them all knights!"
Love the continued enthusiasm Levy! Never ceases to amaze how you turn every game into a masterclass display of passion for a millennia old game. Wonderful to see.
Stock fish is clearly the favorite, but the other bots unique approach of not knowing the rules provides them with a path for an upset. Pumped for this.

@anjatellem4619 Yeah, I use it on the mobile website. I dont think its perfect but it's definitely good, and only going to improve if everything planned gets implemented. Since its a subscription, you get multiple courses. For white, maybe the e4 course and expanded with some of the smaller courses throughout, or the london for something more comfortable and less theory heavy. For black, can't go wrong with Caro-Kann and his OGD that covers everything else. Maybe later potentially the e6/b6 course it's fun. I recommend going throughout periodically, I retain things if I do it stuff in small bursts. Go through it normally, and maybe after games review the course. Additionally do all the variation drills, and the quizzes. I think they're underrated to learning. Hopefully that mouthful helps!
