Love it. My brain recognizes these sounds, but it is confused and waiting for Lerxt to start playing at normal speed.
Ha! Yes, I love the original music as well and listen to Hemispheres regularly. Amazing album and one of Lifeson's highlights.
Brilliant in every way - that long opening is beautiful
Very cool ❤
Thanks for the comment and glad you like it!
Absolutely spectacular! I love the ambient music - orchestral, shimmering, hypnotic.. but the video is the star of this piece. The effects are truly stunning - very well done!
Glad you like it! Yes, the video came together very well for this one. It's the result of tinkering with some new animation apps that allow me to breathe life into still images. More coming this week...
Right after listening to what you did with Close to the Edge, I came here. Love it.
Excellent! Thanks again for the comments!
@@grainsofsandambientlands4226 I hope others that I showed this to will also comment on your channel. We shall see : )
Excellent! Thanks again for supporting the channel and spreading the word. Much appreciated 👍
haha neat idea - more please !!! LOL
Glad you like it! There's certainly more on the way. Next week, a classic Yes track will get the "slowed" treatment, but there's definitely more Rush in the works... Feel free to check out other slowed tracks (including more Rush) on the channel 👍
amazing
Glad you like it!
I miss the guitar intro but I imagine that didn’t sound very listenable at -32x speed. Cool ambient track to doze off to.
Thanks for the comment and I'm glad it serves as a good sleep aid! And yes, you guessed it: the classical guitar intro didn't sound great slowed down. The first notes worked, but when Alex shreds, the notes became a bit cluttered and cacophonous. Of course, the original is amazing, but when aiming for a calming or sleep-inducing ambient effect, such edits need to be made. Thanks again for the comment and hope you enjoy the channel!
Outstanding!!! ❤
Glad you like it! More Rush on Grains of Sand, Ambient Lands if you're interested 👍
waiting to hear...
"have you ever heard of the tragedy of Darth Plegeus the wise?"
Ha! It's been years since I've watched Revenge of the Sith, but I can see your connection. Although I wonder if that scene demands something more sinister -- something in the dark ambient vein. Now you've got me thinking about Star Wars music and imagery for a future slowed/ambient track...
I like it, but did you try it at let say 16X or 8X?
Excellent. And yes, I usually test a few different speeds before settling with the one that resonates the most. Originally, I was working with 8x slower but wanted a longer track (20+ minutes), so kept experimenting until I was very happy with the deeply immersive and yet still recognizable "La Villa" intro ambiance that occured at 32x slower. I haven't slowed anything beyond that. My Grains of Sand, Ambient Lands rendition of the intro to U2's "Where the Streets Have no Name" is also at 32x slower and is very immersive, but a bit less recognizable. Either way, glad you like the track and feel free to check out others on the channel 👍
Not bad. I made a video speeding up “The Speed of Love” 10.5% on my channel 😎
Nice! Counterparts was my first Rush album and "The Speed of Love" is an underated gem. I'll give your slowed rendition a listen 👍
Why?
I'm a huge Rush fan and also very much appreciate ambient music. The intro to La Villa is a hypnotic ambient gem in its own right, so I just stretched it out into a full ambient track.
Because it's awe, that's why. You should try something new yourself. You might come up with something
YYNOT?
I actually understand the question. I didn't know slowing down music is a thing. It does sound very cool and other worldly. Wonder what the sifting process is for identifying tracks which work slowed down.
Thanks for the comment and pointing out that many are unaware of the "slowed" or "slowed and reverb" UA-cam community. On my process for finding candidate tracks for the slowed treatment: clearly music that is already ambient works quite well, but I tend to isolate a moment or two from such tracks and expand them into their own longer pieces. However, it's easy to find bits of ambience here and there in a variety of music -- both popular and obscure -- from intros, outros, interludes, etc. The possibilities are endless.
