I suspect you edited the opening ambience, The Solid Time Of Change, into the ambience of I Get Up, I Get Down. It is a beautiful edit.
People don’t realize how much Yes utilized ambience in their mid 70’s works. This, in 1972.
And You And I from this album has it’s ambient moments, as does the generally more rocking Siberian Khatru.
Then, there’s Tales From Topographic Oceans, which is so drenched in ambience it shocked people.
Relayer. A good deal of ambience.
    Even Going For The One.
They may not themselves have been aware of it at the time, but Yes were really good at it. You can plainly hear the deep attention to detail here.
Chris Squire’s bass stands out even in this format.
An old, old Yesfan adores this. ❤
When Jon comes in at the end, that same old, old Yesfan wept.

Thanks for the comment! And you just about have it: it begins with the opening ambience of "The Solid Time of Change," and then there's the brief blending of the final notes of the song ("Seasons of Man") during the "radiant parting of the clouds" section of the video, before settling into the longer ambient sequence of "I Get Up, I Get Down," including a bit of Anderson's vocals and Wakeman's organ solo at the end.
And yes, as you note, there are plenty of ambient moments in the Yes catalogue to choose from and this won't be the last exploration of the band on this channel... Big fan here as well!

Wow - Roger Dean meets 2001: A Space Odyssey. I don’t know where to start - the video production is stunningly creative and beautiful. The weaving of Dean’s images into an animated journey through the creator’s imagination is brilliant. And of course, the slowed music of Yes to provide the perfect background for this odyssey. Jon Anderson’s ethereal voice sounds even more angelic at the 28-minute mark, followed by surging keyboards and concluding with a spectacular video finale. Breathtaking - well done!

I was at the Premier of Close To The Edge and it has since been my most loved and cherished album. So I always approach any attempts to cover or of imitation with trepidation. So when I saw this I was rather dubious, okay it is not a patch on the original music, simply because Close To The Edge is; for me, THE Bench Mark of Modern/Progressive Music and all other bands have been trying to match it since but haven't come close (no pun intended). But I freely admit this is Beautiful rendition of parts of Close To The Edge (I so hate it when people abbreviate it to CTTE!) and I thoroughly enjoyed the music and the accompanying video. Rating: Excellent! Well Done.👏 I feel certain Jon would approve.

Thanks for the kind words! The music of Yes is so complex and varied, from frenetic to ethereal -- often in the same song (CTTE being a good example). Those lighter moments are sometimes overlooked, or a bit too fleeting, so I like to stretch them out, let them breathe on their own, or sometimes blend them with other ambient moments in the song. Thanks for watching and the comment! "Hairless Heart" is on the list of candidate tracks for the Grains of Sand, Ambient Lands treatment, along with a load of other Genesis songs. With "Hairless Heart," I may have to work around the drums, as drum sounds tend to not translate well into slowed ambient tracks. That said, Collins' drum parts in this track are rather slow / minimalist, so I might be able to do the whole song. In terms of Genesis / Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, there is a Grains of Sand, Ambient Lands slowed version of "Silent Sorrow in Empty Boats." Here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/O70O2uKqM88/v-deo.html

I like the slowed down Yes, but the AI Roger Dean is not a patch on the real work. I don't apologise for my dislike of anything touted as art but is actually produced by an AI bot, I cannot straddle the uncanny valley. The voice of Jon Anderson is one of the gifts nature has given to the world. Just now listening to Rick's church organ, great music transcends time and space. Very interesting, thanks.

I'm skeptical about the use of AI as well, especially when it comes to art and writing (I'm an educator, so ChatGPT use is on the "cheating" radar). I've also trained my eye to see it in more recent photography, paintings, and videos. That said, I have been impressed by AI generated imagery, and my work on this channel is also about reworking preexisting music and imagery into something unique for others to enjoy. @grainsofsandambientlands4226  19 днів тому

As a drummer with great respect for Bill Bruford, I understand the confusion! This is a slowed down, ambient take on this Yes classic. Typically, when you slow down drum parts you get some pretty harsh sounds that aren't really conducive to ambient listening. Sometimes slower drums and cymbals work, but I mostly avoid them when making these videos. Hope that clarifies the lack of drums here and the Grains of Sand, Ambient Lands approach.

Yes, it would definitely be much longer if I gave the ambient treatment to the full 18+ minutes of the original song, but my approach on the channel is to select passages from songs with potential to work as standalone ambient tracks when slowed and/or edited together. This treatment of Close to the Edge includes the intro, outro, and passages from the midsection ("I Get Up, I Get Down"). Hope that helps to clarify!
