It's pretty weird that people are trying to make us divided, and it's getting conflated a right/left thing.
It's right and left disagreeing, and then both going WTF to extremists. I don't even think MAGA voters are terrorists, just scared people being wound up by bad actors, but since that's the point and intention of the bad actors, perhaps that's a proper division, and we should make sure those fuckers get vote out before they get more people killed.
I don't want to vote up and down the ballot for any party. I like alternatives and nuance. But if an entire party wants to be a twat factory for actual terrorists, it robs me of my choice and I have to fallback on the non-terrorism one, and the one that doesn't have grifters (notice I didn't say panderers) like Cruz and his appropriate Confederate beard.

I think the biggest reason is that for 200 years, the vast majority of both Parties just accepted and understood the rules as had been followed for generations. Now, however, it seems that certain players are determined to challenge every letter of the rules and laws, trying to find any and every loophole that can gain them the advantage. They no longer want to win based on appealing to voters. They want to win through manipulation.
Now, we are fighting because we have never had a president before Trump behave in such a destructive manner. Now we have to revise the laws and constitution to deal with him and prevent anything like him from getting away with what he has ever again.

Whenever Republicans shout "NEW RULE!" it only binds Democrats and/or benefits Republicans. E.g. "NEW RULE! Supreme Court Justices cannot be nominated in an election year--unless the President is a Republican." So this current New Rule should be understood to mean "States cannot remove a Presidential candidate from the ballot, unless it's Republicans removing a Democrat."

Different circumstances and people. The Colorado challenge was over the 14th Amendment and was brought by 6 legal voters...2 independents and FOUR Republicans. The challenge in Ohio and Alabama had to do registration deadlines and were brought by the state Republican parties. Apples and oranges. BUT both driven mainly by Republicans!

I still puzzle over how I personally didn't become just another bigoted nut job but the insanity here is palpable. There are good people here but the ignorance and denial is so ingrained that it almost seems unbeatable. And the kids!! I supervise a bus-stop and the little kids who know nothing about politics talking about issues they know nothing about is upsetting to say the least. They come to school repeating things their parents say that they don't even understand. How do you counter that? Bullies that think they can do whatever they want, wherever they want, because daddy nra said so. I don't blame the kids, it's their parents that are the problem. But even their parents were most likely traumatized or indoctrinated to think this way. How can it be fixed?
