Thank you Lawrence for this reminder that there once was a time when elected officials of both parties worked together for the betterment of our society and there were heroes like Moynihan who had the brilliance and vision to give them something to work with and to work towards.
It wasn't that long ago! Obama worked with both John McCain and Mitt Romney. The debates back then were civil and focused on differences in policy.
It's only since Trump came on the scene that eveythings become so divided. The guys an extremist and a criminal, but has brainwashed his followers into believing that Hillary and Biden are the extremists and criminals.
LBJ and Moynahan were right. If we didn't at least BEGIN the road to equality, we would never be able to properly build the Founders' dream. And here we are with the horrifying PROOF OF THAT!

Few people knew that Johnson wanted what he called "The Great Society". It was a society that had freedom and fairness for all as promised in the Constitution. Unfortunately the budget was blown because of our involvement in Vietnam. This was one of the main reasons he didn't run for another term.

When you see Biden from 2010 you do realize how far he has slipped. Don't get me wrong, I am a Biden fan and will certainly vote for him. But he looks much different, he speaks much different, and he doesn't have close to the energy he had back then.

Yes, it is amazing. I am a Biden fan. I will vote for him because I think he is a great man and has been a really good president and voting for a dictator wannebe like Trump is out of the question. But Biden's decline is startling. Sure, he is over 80 now, but it is still remarkable how much he has slipped.
See now this is not what I remember this country being. Everyone has their own reasons for voting for either candidate tho I do really doubt people's sanity for voting Republican let alone Trump, there are still valid reasons why people vote for him and I did 2020. I really regret it now especially after finding out all the horrible stuff he did. People are voting Democrat cuz of the Anti LGBT actions the Republicans randomly go into, even tho their voters do have a lot of accepting people. His policies on deregulation as well as the tax cut that was mainly for the wealthy elite and would be the same if not worse again. Ukraine. The mountain of debt piling (which you cant blame Trump all for tho he was irresponsible) the economic war with China which largely failed, the Asian hate crime that rose every time he said China Virus (that was real) the anti COVID mandate approach even in rhetoric had to of cost people lives or just those that didn't think it was as bad and just a flu. Trying to basically create the government in his image or whoever pulls his strings is scary. Overall just the hate that he made worse in this country thru division. Its okay to be on the offensive at times more than most but it was too much. He barely ever admitted when he was wrong, basically never. Dude gets super basic facts wrong, barely even knows HISTORY like AMERICAN HISTORY and just acts like he's above everyone else. There's barely a middle ground with him which you need to have middle grounds to be a good POTUS. It made Washington even more toxic even today. There was also the whole Jan 6 thing and just the unhinged stuff he says now. Trump's worse now than he was then. Trump lost my vote and the whole Republican Party for many reasons. Also voters who truly care about this stuff aren't online, we're working our jobs or something and just mentally exhausted. Not all Democrats are sheep just like Republicans, everyone has their own reasons including beliefs and just vote for who you actually want to vote for. I would rather vote for someone else or have the option, mainly due to his age tho also cuz I think we could have a way better President that pursues progressive policies and there are things I don't agree with that the President does, tho he's still been better than I ever thought he would be and I'm completely content voting for Biden. Then Trump being the candidate, (Ukraine changed a lot as well) I'd vote for nearly any Democrat over Trump even tho I'm a Democrat. I'd vote for a sane Republican though, just not the majority in Washington or otherwise now.
