Very similar issue with mine. In my case, the mounting screws vibrated off and the blower dropped down two inches, so the squirrel cage was rubbing on the plastic. One year old.
I got the same unit. That squirrel cage on mine didn't have the set screw tightened so the shaft turned and the cage freewheeled. I just happened to see it in time before it came off. Mine unit is now less than two years old and the compressor died. Dometic is Scheisse. And don't expect warranty to work, even before it expires.
This happens when a unit has been dropped or mistreated while in transit.

Couldn’t you just loosen the squirrel cage and slide it back a quarter inch on the shaft?
