Replacing the 14 year old (rear) roof AC unit on my motorhome. The new air condition is a Dometic (651815) Penguin II - 13500 BTU - Low Profile - Duo Therm - Heat Pump and conversion kit to make it compatible with my 5 button controller.
*Love this unit! Using upstairs in my sons bedroom **Fastly.Cool** and he’s finally able to be comfortable upstairs without me freezing downstairs. Works for more sqft than expected!*
This video really saved the day. Was able to successfully do this exact same process on a retired Navy Chief’s Motorhome in about 4 hours including the control board. We watched this video about 5 times! For the part you clipped out about wiring the new 5-button control module, if anyone reads this, the instructions are pretty good that come with the board, and easy to do. For the dip switches, just make it the same as the one you’re replacing. Ours were all off but #5 furnace (on). They are nice and cool again.
I’m glad this is helping someone out there, this is really a great comment. The board swap was very easy to do after I watched the technician do it LoL. But it would have taken me forever to do that part. You did the complete instal in 4 hours, fantastic. 🤙
The way we lifted the unit on the roof is written in the description. I just did not want to include it in the video. The ancients knew how to lift without cranes. 😆
Thanks Kirk, I appreciate the comment my friend. I have a few more to edit like this but don't have the time to finish them in the proper way that would have a chance to do like this one. One of these days I'm going to stop watching others and do my videos LOL. Need 2k sbs and them will be comfortable. maybe/ 🤔😉
There’s nothing like traveling in an RV Ray. I love working on it as well. More than the house LOL. Someday you need to try it. I hope the test went well?
Hi John, I like seeing a electrical panel that is well diagram, this way each breaker is explained so you don't have to guess. I like how you tell people to clean up before installing the new AC. Nice to have an AC friend. I thought it was an excellent video, you can see why people without an A4 licence would have someone else replace the unit. Was the unit already charged? Excellent and thanks Like 80 Gary
Great video, very helpful. Can you walk me thru the decision to stick with the 5 button thermostat? Does the 12 button thermostat require running new wires? Or what?
The biggest reason is my front A/C unit is not compatible with the 12 button. If and when I exchange that one I will definitely convert back to the 12 button.
Perfect for hot weather alright LOL In a couple of month we will have above 100 degrees here in Florida, both those ACs will be on at all times. The Heat pump we only use it once or twice / year. Thanks for dropping in and have a great week.
I installed one of these and got the quote button digital thermostat that's required can't get any power to the thermostat did the flip over communication and no power to the thermostat can anybody out there give me any information
CCC or CCC1 is the 5 button control that Dometic used that is in your RV. That is why you had to swap your controller card as CCC2 uses a different thermostat control hookup now.
The card that was in the old unit I do not have, Gave it to the Technician as part of payment. Sorry. I was thinking of saving it for the front AC but that was different as well.
I just replaced the A/C on my trailer and had to do it all by myself because no one wanted to help me. So yeah if you have people who are reliable and will help you , utilize them, because hauling an A/C up on the roof by yourself without damaging it is a pain in the ass..

Really helped me out John before I installed mine. Great job!
Glad it helped! Safe travels.
Glad you had some help getting the unit to the roof! Would have been hard to impossible otherwise!

Sorry, just seen this.
Did you call the Manufacturer?
That's what I would do.
I hope you got it resolved...
nice intro!
You still have the old card (CCC2)? Mine failed in my Airstream. Looking for a used one...
don't know what the ccc2 is but this is P/N 3312227.000

I hope I don’t have to do this. If I do , your going to be getting a lot of time. Cause I will be back 10 times
That’s funny. That old AC lasted way longer than it should have.
Thanks Ken.
