    Good video. I have a Dometic Penguin II acting up. At night the inside temp sensor will show it is 50 degrees (fahrenheit) when the bedroom temperature is 68 degrees. I think it might be an issue with the control board.

      From what you’re explaining to me, I think it is the board problem. Anything to do with control and temperature is off the thermostat and if you’re using the original thermostat that came with your RV then more so the control board have you changed your thermostat there might be software updates for your thermostat like my iTouch thermostat which are Wi-Fi in Bluetooth and I did have an issue originally until I updated the firmware on the thermostat, thanks for your comments and hope this helps

    I wished that you would have shown everything about the install, like the dip switch, the inside air control duct etc..... thanks for the video though.... I still appreciate your help....

      Yes, I apologize for that. My only challenge was we were all up on the roof and I was trying to get the shots as best I could and unfortunately that was the part that even the tech kind of forgot since the last minute and then we were able to fix it and do that, but sorry about that but again, thank you for watching and your comments.

      Unfortunately, that unit is now long gone, which I had access to, but I will look up to see if I can find the dramatic penguin dip, switch configuration and post it in the next message. Thanks for watching and your comments.

    How old was the one you replaced?

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  Місяць тому +1

      The unit was 4 years old, way too soon for it to be replaced. But when the manufacturer doesn’t put repair valves on the unit to add refrigerant or recapture it’s done

      @@ACanadianRVereh I just put a penguin ii on mine 2 days ago hopefully it last longer than 4 years. I work out of mine and my units don’t stop during the summer

    Where are the dip switches located. .?
    Where did you install the soft start?

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  5 місяців тому

      In the model that we were working on, the dip switches were inside the control box that’s in the AC unit and the soft starts. We just installed on the side of the silver box. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching and your comments.

    Does a Honda 2200 generator run these ok? This has both heat and AC?

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  Рік тому

      You should be Ok as long as you start one at a time and let them stabilize for a few minutes. Two units with Easy Starts and a 30 amp generator will work

    So instead of replacing a good unit just low on freon, why not tap it so it can be recharged?

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  Рік тому

      The challenges as I understand them, there is no Connection Point on the unit anywhere to be able to either extract the Freon and capture it in a bottle or tie into it with meters and charge it, but the other issue is once you charge it before you do that you have to find where it leaked and that could be a small is a pinhole someplace in the condenser evaporator or someplace around the compressor that’s really the challenge to find the leak because you shouldn’t have to charge it if you didn’t have a leak so that’s been some of my challenges to figure out how to do it and when they charge the unit they just actually charge it and then bend over the copper fitting and breeze the top of it Thanks for watching and your comments.

      It’s illegal and you can go to jail. You have to have strict licensing to be approved and have to have dometics consent. It’s not likely you’ll need to just buy a new unit. Don’t waste the energy

    What thermostat do your use? I picked up the same unit, same connectors but the thermostat I was sold isn't the right quick connects. Thanks.

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  Рік тому +1

      The thermostat that we used was the old one we didn’t get a new thermostat with the unit and it’s the one that has the RJ 11 the little telephone jack on the thermostat and that’s the connection. That’s also on the penguin to AC unit. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and your comments.

    You didn't include the most important part, water proofing and sealant of the new unit to the roof!

    • @ACanadianRVereh
      @ACanadianRVereh  Рік тому

      The new unit came with its own water seal already on the new unit. All we did is remove the tape side of the seal and if I missed that in the video I’m sorry, but that’s all we did so it had its own seal and we did not need anything else because of the built-in seal that came with the unit just removing the sticky side of the tape.
